I agree. For me, a remote control is also essential. I want to put this down in my garage. Also considering the Aiyima D03. I'd rather also have physical tone knobs like this one does. But I'm worried about the tubes. Do they break easily?
They are glass so if you hit them hard probably. If it's for a garage, your gonna get a lot of dust in it so would consider something else. It's a great unit tho and of all the small amps I've tried last year it's gotta be my favourite!!
I have the exact same one powering a pair of Yamaha NS45 tower speakers and it fantastic. I prefer the sound of the little Douk against my old Yamaha RX V461 Receiver. However, the Douk gets a little warm after a while... not much but if you put your hand on it you can definitely feel it. Anyways, I was just wondering if there is any difference in sound quality among the different inputs: USB vs OPTICAL vs RCA etc... Thanks and nice video.
Hi, agree with you and it does get warm, thankfully not alarmingly hot though!! In regards to tbe different outputs, i have really only used the rca and bluetooth and streaming through the rca i find is better sounding than the bluetooth but thats likely that the DAC in thr streamer is a little better than the onboard one. Cant comment on the usb and optical as not used!
Douk ST-01 Pro TUBE tip: If your amp came with Chinese 6k4 tubes (has a red star printed on the glass), mine caused distortion. I upgraded to much better sound for $17 with GE JAN 5654W matched pair tubes. 6k4 tubes can be replaced by 6J1, 6J2, 6J3, 6J4, 6J5, 6"1N, 64N, 65N, 5654/5654W, 5725, 6AK5, EF95, 6BA6, 403B, etc. Your tubes may be ok. Just an FYI free tip.
Thanks for a great insight again. I was going to dip my toe into the DIY single driver smallish floor stander. Is there a design and driver you could recommend? Many thanks.
Personally one of my favourite small builds that sounds great is this one : ruclips.net/video/U01D-rbsOAk/видео.htmlsi=3FCXCSxDm1eDi8CE The drivers chn-50 are linked in the description.
Must admit I don't know them. Guessing depending on wattage of your speakers you will be fine. I like the slightly warmer sound that you get with tube amp for my full range drivers. I've not tried it on two way speakers.
Can you drive cassette player and vinyl on same unit? If not, can you Suggest any small amp similar too that one you review? Listen most at death metal and electro. Love to check if it works in sound.
Would say not.(guessing cassette could go to RCA though?) but maybe you'd be better off with something a bit more powerful. Cheaper options something like FOSI TB10D or AIYIMA A07?. May be worth asking others ref vinyl
Is the high distortion in in the sound demo because of the phone recording? How’s the dynamics and sound stage in this amplifier? Can it handle not efficient speakers?
The music used for the demo is only some loyalty free stuff form RUclips so, not going to hit high bit rates. The dynamics and flexibility is good with the bass and treble actually making a difference and the sounstage from the speakers I used is very good (full range though and fairly sensitive). Not sure how it would cope with not very efficient speakers but does give a lovely warm sound.
Depending on how you connect it, I would say yes. I thought it was a lovely little amp tho (nice warm sound) and I was really happy with it. Looks good, good connectivity although not a specific connection for a turntable. (obviously you could use RCA).
No idea, it should come with one so complain if I were you. If you bought second hand, recollection on that you could probably buy one from manufacturers
All I can say is try both. I have no experience of the E30 but would hope it's for a better Dac inside that this. Experiment with it and let us all know!!
@ I am just looking for a nice sound system for my gaming pc, I won’t be blasting it loud. I got these klipsch r41m speakers for a good deal and I am just looking for something that will provide them with enough to provide me with a decent sound and clarity in games and sometimes listening to music at low to medium volume. I am totally new to amps and speakers and i have already ordered this amp as it was discribed to have a 100watt output from each channel (speakers are 50w and 200w max output). I have later found out that these amps only deliver around 34w at 8ohms and 45-50w at 4ohms. I am just wondering will this be enough for them to work smoothly without causing any damage and will the sound be good as they are 8ohms speakers I was told I should get an amp that atleast delivers double the wattage of the speakers?
Hi, I have a nexus APD43A amp, but my turntable seems muffled as regards treble/high notes when playing vinyl. Im trying to work out what to do. Is it the turntable, or needle, or would one of these added to the set up, give me what is lacking and actual adjustment availability, as the nexus has no treble knob. Any advice greatly appreciated as im baffled?!
Hi Grant, baffled too I am afraid. Just Googled it and could be an issue with the needle. Other than that, and maybe borrowing a friend amp to see if maybe it's an issue with yours?
@@DIY-AUDIO thanks for your response. I inherited the system, so it's never been serviced, so could be that. But CDs sound fine. So it must be the needle or a turntable upgrade maybe. I know the amp was good in it's day, and turntable although not top of the range, was a decent one. I'll try needle first. Regardless, would having one of these extra amps improve sound?
@@DIY-AUDIO Very true but it just seems a bit of a cop-out. If you've got something and you're selling on the premise that it's 200 w why not send it with the correct power supply that can actually make it perform how it's supposed to again 18 lb charger would fix this and it again. What is the device he's using to the right of the Amp to play the music? The one with the HIFI doorstop on it. !!
It's a Allo Boss 2 music streamer with Dac. Built using Raspberry Pi
