Halloween Prop building, vintage drum collecting and restoration and drumming.
Audio sample of my late 1930's Slingerland Radio King Drums
Here is some audio of my recently restored late 1930's Slingerland Radio King Drum Set. The set consists of a 14" x 28" Mahogony bass drum, Mahogany 8" x 12" hi tom, Mahogany 12" x 14" low tom and single ply steam bent maple 7" x 14" snare drum.
There is some compression and EQ in the mix. I don't have very good overheads and the room is small so a dry overhead mix sounds pretty poor. There is also some reverb added since the room is tiny and doesn't do these drums any justice.

Like all of my other drum covers, this video is a single take all the way through. No overdubs or cutting and pasting. For some rediculous reason I'm opposed to mixing several different takes. Video #8 of the year. This song was recorded on a 1962-63 Slingerland drum set with a 1956-1960s Radio King snare. This kit sounds amazing to me. I included a picture in picture of my feet this time. At some point I'll add more views. Just trying to give you something more to look at. I selected this song because it was something very different for me and my wife loves Marvin Gaye. This is my 2016 Halloween prop build. It's essentially a Cauldron Creep. I veered from the original design slightly. I wanted him to have wings that open which required changing the frame from the original design to support the additional weight and movement. Here is the completed version.

How much did this cost you
It’s been so long I can’t remember. Probably close to $1,000. A lot of that cost went into the prop controller. I’ve since learned about Arduino’s and if you used one of those in place of the prop controller you could shave off about $400-$500.
