Having never watched twin peaks, this version sounds like the theme when a nation or person turns truly, irredeemably evil
Well, the story of how David Lynch instructed Mr Badalamenti to write Laura's theme paints a different picture. The overarching motif was made to describe the empty woods of twin peaks with it sycamore trees, while the build ups represent Laura coming into the Forest to meet whoever is playing the music, and lynch specificallytold Badalamenti to make the part happy, but then she goes away, and that is when the music falls and keeps falling until the starting motif is all that's left, with Lynch describing it as getting really sad. So in this case, I'd say this is the song which describes a people in their darkest hour never being rescued, because the shining star that was meant to bring them out from the darkness never shone.
If you sought out this video, you're one of the few people who truly love Twin Peaks. <3
