    I will never understand wny they didnt keep the origins part going? Like with Dragon Age 2 I get since that wasnt even meant to be a legitmate sequel and more of a side game and it was made in 15 months. Inquisition and Veilguard have no excuse though in my opinion.... such a wasted opportunity that I hope a new franchise steals. That short hour or two introduction to where your character comes from did more to ground me into the world than anything from the other two games combined.

      @@popcandy44 your guess is as good as mine. I agree with you though, the Origin story did wonders to make you feel like a real character in the world. Not a chosen one, not a mythical hero that will just disappear one day mysteriously, but just another person. Albeit a person who skilled enough to join the Wardens, but that’s hardly unique. The series will always have a piece of its heart missing while playable Origins are missing in action.

      @@ratedjentertainment To give you context because I feel it's appropriate, I've been playing games since Sonic 2 on the Sega Genesis. As far as RPGs go, If you consider OG Fable then that's my first, if not, Star Wars; Knights Of The Old Republic (KOTOR) was my first RPG, at least the first that I played beginning to end. I've also played Mass Effect, Dark Souls, and, of course, Dragon Age. My brother got me into it because he knew what games I gravitate towards and how I'd go on about KOTOR and how good it was. As for artsyle, I'm not exactly a great source on critiquing artstyle, as I've never found a style that repells or attracts me, I find graphics to be icing, if the cake is good, the icing (graphics) will enhance it, but no amount of icing can save a terrible cake, or ruin a great one. I'd say my favorite aspects are a toss up between the characters and the gameplay. Fighting enemies or avoiding said fights with a skill check that your character might be designed around, your class matters, a Bard isn't going to fight, or explore the same way a Druid would. Being able to have, say a cleric force a very strong melee combatant drop his weapon and then have your melee fighter take it so his previously insane DPS (I always do the encounter early because I know about this strat) into a very low punch or just pushing a giant beast off a ledge rewards creativity in combat by boosting power without actually boosting stats. The characters are all well written as well. While fantastical they do generally feel like real people you could know. I won't say they're as great as Mass Effects cast, but I am VERY biased. For Christ's sake my profile name is a Garrus reference. TLDR; I think the characters and gameplay are stellar and recommend it. By all means, watch gameplay here on YT before spending money, but as someone with relatively similar gaming taste, I think it's a really good game.

      @@dr.calibrations7984 wow! I appreciate you taking the time to write all of that! I genuinely enjoy your passion and enthusiasm for BG3, that’s fantastic. Also, I’m glad you said something because I was hoping your name was a Garrus ME2 reference. The style of CRPGs in terms of gameplay has never really hooked me in. Even recently I tried to play Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader, as a big Warhammer nerd, I was hoping this would be enough to get me in, CRPG with a Warhammer paint job, should be a no brainer, even that couldn’t keep me invested. Maybe it’s just the game play loop? Maybe I’m just too engrained in the Bethesda style of gameplay? I don’t know. But it’s worth considering. We have a discord in the link of these videos, you should consider joining and hanging out, while I feel you and I might disagree on a lot, I enjoy having my ideas challenged. Which is why I don't buy them, I don't even watch anyone else play them. I grew up in southwest Florida, after my parents moved there from Michigan. I rediscovered morrowind a few years ago after getting into ttrpgs and more complex crpgs, and recently picked up oblivion. Been having a blast with my good daedra worshipping, former morag tong, dunmer monk. Seeing as I’ve played Morrowind and Skyrim, it felt like time to try the elder scrolls game I missed out on. I already immediately enjoy many aspects of it better than Skyrim, especially the ability to specialize in unarmed combat, which few games outside this one and new Vegas let you do. I didn’t know how to use map markers or change quest and I was so lost all the time but it never got frustrating because everything about the world felt so alive it was complete escapism for me as a kid who had never experienced anything like this before. Once I stumbled on Weston Priory I fell in love then with the main quest, I don’t know what the hook was in particular but it was just a great sense of adventure. Gearing up in the Priory to find the Emperors heir, it was so exciting. Favourite moments, well I have so many I can’t chalk it down to one I loved most of the main quest particularly the missions where you are undercover as a blade or where you are sniffing out mythic dawn spies. I loved the battle for Bruma. I loved the Fighters guild questline too particularly the last quest because I felt like an action hero. The ambush in the mages guild quest is burned into my brain also. I have one memory from oblivion that I remember kept me up at Night, I was in the imperial city waiting and I was interrupted by a dark elf to give me the order of the virtuous blood quest, I found that so cool and couldn’t wait to start as I was on the way to the house my parents told me to go to bed so I spent that whole Night bursting with excitement for the morning so I could meet the order. So many amazing memories and I still replay Oblivion to this day almost twenty years later.

    The first time I tried Oblivion, I really, really didn't like it. Coming into it from Skyrim is quite the challenge, and I just didn't click with it like I thought I would. I got to around level 7 and decided that was enough for me to figure out I just heavily preferred Skyrim. Well, this year I decided to buy it for PS3 again and give it another chance because it came with the map of Cyrodiil and the Knights of the Nine poster. I don't know what changed. I really dont. I'm absolutely in love with this game. Once I got past the atrocious leveling system and jankiness of the combat I learned to REALLY appreciate Oblivion. First think I did was to quit being anxious over how to level correctly and keep in pace with the leveled world and just adjust that difficulty slider when it got too hard. After that, I just did what I did in my first playthrough in Skyrim all those years ago and just started dungeon crawling and visiting small settlements looking for quests roleplaying as an Imperial Holy Knight. Well, I'll keep the comment short, but I'm ecstatic about this game now. Borderline obsessed. The exploration, the cities, the lore, the look and feel of it all. I don't have the time to go into the detail of what makes Oblivion so special. I am JUST AS in love now with the world of Cyrodiil now as with Skyrim's. It's just breathtaking how deep everything was before Skyrim too, from the mechanics to the world itself. I, I can actually role-play now. Im not a prophesized OP Dragonborn and don't have to keep that in mind with my head cannon on my characters now. Cyrodiil being surrounded by all the other provinces has it's advantages too, making it's environments so varied and mix flawlessly with eachother. The cities are my favorite part. Every, single, city looks and feels different. Some are a little bit on the smaller side, but also beautiful like Leyawiin and Chorrol. Others are HUGE like Skiingrad, which just about dwarfs every city in Skyrim. Then, there's the magnum opus, The Imperial City. The ultimate quest hub. It's perfect. I can't ramble on any longer, but out of all games I decided to give a second chance on, I'm so glad I gave this one a second shot. It sure deserved it, and I get to experience it all as a newbie too. Loved this video by the way. I agree with just about everything 👍

    • @Firealone9
      @Firealone9 14 дней назад

      @@ratedjentertainment Well, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, and Oblivion are all definitely at their worst on PS3. It's the console I've played them all on with thousands of hours of experience and it's always the same story. Awful framerate with frequent stuttering throughout with all the games. It takes some getting used to, but I'd still say the experience remains in tact to enjoy them. In all the games, especially Skyrim even with the Legendary patch the world will actively start destabilizing around you after around 100 to 140 hours of a playthrough so regardless of level that's when it's time to start a new character. This goes for all the games. You know when it happens because more and more things start breaking like NPCs can't path correctly anymore, mad texture pop in, and quests start bricking everywhere. New Vegas comes in a close second to Skyrim here. Disabling all autosaves is the tried and true way to extend the life of a playthrough. As well as overwriting the same manual save instead of keeping multiple saves. This is a must for all the games on PS3. So far right now I have a 60 hour playthrough in on Oblivion with both main DLCs installed and it's fairing pretty well. I'd say Skyrim had better overall performance at this point, but Skyrim also had multiple freezes and a few broken quests where Oblivion has chugged right along with no broken quests as of yet. Some people might find it unplayable on PS3, but as a veteran with these games on the system I think it's totally playable and I think will fair better in the long run when compared to the other Bethesda games. Sucks I still play the games on PS3, but I plan on getting a Series X soon anyways to get close to the PC experience of them. I'd rate them from best to worst performance like this on PlayStation 1. Fallout 3 (Actually pretty decent port from 360. Not that bad.) 2. Oblivion with DLC (Nothing ruining my enjoyment so far! Totally playable) 3. Skyrim with DLC (Infamous for freezing and destabilizing in time, but performance is pretty decent throughout) 4. New Vegas (Have to babysit the game to get it to be stable for a whole playthrough. Complete edition with DLCs is 110% broken. Base game is playable enough.) I legit encourage you to find a copy or two of these games to try on PS3. It's really enlightening for sure! I am not saying I won't ever play it fully, I will say though that I don't see myself doing it any time soon. Though you are a swell ambassador to the game.

    Welcome to youtube. I remember the joy of playing Oblivion on the xbox 360. It was the first game I bought and played with that console and I loved it. Bizarrely though, I've hated everything else Bethesda has developed since lol.

      There has been a noticeable shift downward in the quality of their story telling in other games. I won’t deny that. But I am glad we share a love for this game! I’ve always been an Oblivion die hard and it’s good to know I’m now alone.

      @@ratedjentertainment After watching this, I'm gonna get Oblivion installed and have a blast through it again as I've never actually played it on PC. Well, kind of. My Dad had the PC version, but his computer was so bad that we couldn't get it to run well enough to play. I remember how hyped I was to finally play it on the 360, after the disappointment of not being able to get the PC version working properly.

    Skyrim's crash-on-save bug (which I can keep at bay for a few saves with the kill command but never really get rid of) has me tempted to go back to Oblivion, and this video sealed it. TES4 just re-installed as of writing this.

    Great video Bro, really Nice content, i Just finish fallout 3 and a I love It, it was my first experience with the fallout series, and now i'm going to start New Vegas, any tips for a first run? The game layout is quite the same of FO3, but i'm kind feeling a bit Lost like the first time playing F03 without any guide . Btw: The soundtrack, radios and envoirenment feeling of ALL old western elements is Just amazing, i love this! 🤠.

      Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to comment, congrats on finishing Fallout 3! Did you play the DLC as well? Fallout 3 has some truly stellar DLC. As for tips on New Vegas, yeah, I have a few. There isn't a ton of level scaling in this game, at least not as evidently as Fallout 3 or Oblivion. There are some areas of the map that are much harder to deal with at lower levels because extremely high level monsters are there purposefully. I don't want to give spoilers because it's a game that is best experienced blind. But find the areas early on and make sure to avoid them. If you are looking for tips on builds, I can't help you there, I am not that technical when it comes to games. I just pick a weapon and go to town on everyone.

      @@ratedjentertainment Thanks Bro, yes i've played of all of them, really like broken steel and the ad content of It, and the better Path they fixed to the Lone Wanderer, the Point Lookout and ALL Lovecraft elements of Dunwitch history and the map and envoirenment of Maryland is amazing, and my favorite was history of The Pitt with all Mad Max references, and special loots, it's a really nice DLC. Thanks for the tips, i guess you're right, i can handle this, just want to find better weapons that'ts all. I'll watch for more videos, sucess for your Channel, keep cooking!! 🍀.

    Epic. Fuckin'. Game. I would damn near any it was damn near perfection. It was hard, it was work, it was hilarious, it was weird, it was corny, it was work. Skyrim was great but it was such a downgrade. Disappointing. Oblivion is still to this day a playable experience and even better with a blunt.

I actually bought a series X just so I could play it again and get all the achievements ( no trophies on playstation) Actually scary how many hours/days/weeks I have put into this. That’s an amazing thing to hear! Thank you for sharing. I think it’s a testament to the games quality that so many of us have some many hours in this game, but truthfully, I’m not sure I’d want someone to tell me exactly how many hours I’ve put into it. I’m sure the number would be equal impressive and embarrassing.
