    Fun fact - the cirrus line has parachutes because they couldn’t pass the spin test and are required by the FAA to have them installed.

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s 22 дня назад

      @@Steve-qn8gn That’s not exactly true. The belief is Cirrus decided to emphasize the use of the parachute to recover from spin as a safer solution since most pilots cannot practice spin recover frequently enough to apply proper technique. Cirrus aircrafts can receiver from spin. The actual reason for development of CAPS was related to one of the original owners experiencing a midair collision and a desire for a safety GA aircraft.

    Hello sir. Really happy for your channel. Watched all your videos. I have one or two questions if I may. How long is the waiting time for the delivery of a new plane ? I read somewhere that there is 1-2 years wait time for new Vision jet ? Do you know how it is with EU for training and maintenance of Vision Jet planes ? I saw a video that there is some maintenance / service center near Munchen in Germany. So for those annual checks on the plane , we, guys from EU do not need to go to US. But I am not sure if there is some training center in EU for Vision jets ? I think that for a new owners of vision jets, that are from EU, we/they have to go to Knoxville for the type rating training and certification right ?

      @ Don, sorry if I wasn’t clear. I meant programmable flap speeds. I can set the flap speed in the FMS to my choice of speeds below 190 kts, which causes the A/T to change speeds based on flap selection.

    I enjoyed it thanks for posting! 2 quick items... 1. Not sure if this works on the vision jet but on the sr22 I arm heading mode and flc on the ground. I spin the wheel to the number I want and then take off. It makes my transition to AP a bit smoother. 2. I noticed you were able to go full flap on your approach vs the 50% I do in the piston plane. What is your missed approach procedure? Do you immediately retract to 50% flaps or is it power first and then taking out the flaps.

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s 2 месяца назад

      Hi Shane! Thanks for watching. What you are describing is a pilot technique for the SR22. I used to do that we’re I set FLC at 104 for the initial and then roll it into 120 KIAS after CAPS altitude. SF50 is a little different since initial climb is based upon pitch attitude of ten degrees, retract landing gear with positive rate of climb, retract 50% flaps after reaching 115 KIAS. FLC at that point is based upon required climb gradient since most departures in the jet for a departure procedure. Yes, we use full flaps on precision and non precision approaches unlike the SR22. The only exception is circling approaches. Landing 50% flaps is approved but abnormal due to VRef speed. Missed approach is stanadard… Power, pitch, TOGA, Flaps 50%, gear up, NAV, FLC and flaps up through 115 KIAS.

Flying patients reminds me of may career as a police officer in a couple of ways... First, you encounter people at their worst and at their best. Second you encounter people dealing with tragedies and life's worst situations. There is always something to be learned about life when you have someone sitting next to you who is fighting for their survival. It reminds me that life is precious, and time is out of our control. Patient Laura was flying with her aunt, so they preferring sitting next to each other in the back. Often, they sit up front with me and we have some of the best conversations about what matters most and what is important. I enjoy getting to know them a but, but it does open you up emotionally. Thank you again.

    Hey Don - So a little while back I mentioned - I'd love nothing more than to be able to fly a vision jet... In your response, you said (not verbatim), I should get started on getting type rated... ON A VERY SERIOUS NOTE --> I don't have the money to buy one of these jets.... BUT, I almost feel like you weren't assuming that I did have the money either... And you also said - it could or would change my life... And so somehow, I think there was more meaning to what you said... Like maybe, I don't have to have the money to buy one... So can I ask you - what did you mean by that? I mean, are there options that would allow me to be able to fly one in some other capacity???

      Hello. I was making a general statement. There is no easy way to get a type rating. I was essentially saying is it fun to fly.

    once I got used to IFR i found myself using it more than VFR.Strange right?

      Thanks for watching but I don’t know what you mean. If you are talking automation, yes you would use it more for IFR flight. Above FL290 you have to use autopilot due to RVSM.

    Even though I am now an armchair pilot, I still get the heebie-jeebies when watching a handful of other RUclips pilots operating a variety of aircraft from piston to light jet. They just seem uncomfortable in the role of PIC, despite their having passed the requisite flight tests. No so with your channel. There is an air of competent authority with each flight. Keep it coming.

    Good morning Don. What’s the normal rate of descent for the vision jet? 3 degrees? It’s 3 degrees for the Embraer and 2.5 degrees with a 50kt+ jet steam tailwind. I’m listening out for ya when I’m flying haha. Fly safe! - Ted

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s 3 месяца назад

      The decent rate is variable based upon pilot defined preference. It defaults to 3.7 degrees but 3.0 degrees is comfortable for passengers as you have experieced. You can essentially change the decent angle in the VNAV settings. Thanks for watching…. Flying between Fort Worth, Birmingham, Raleigh, Richmond and Atlanta this week… Safe travels….

    I asked a friend of mine, a jet pilot, how far his jet could go and he answered, “3 hours”. When I asked why 3 hours he said, he needed to use the bathroom about every 3 hours!😂😂😂
