Hi! I am new to drifting, I would like to learn how to drift slowly, by driving on Mount Akina everyday!
I will be posting my daily timelaps on Mt Akina until I'm used to it and starts drifting!
I drive IRL as well but the whole sim driving feels very different, its very slippery or doesnt turn when I want to.
Taking in advices, please help me improve ^^
I dont upload daily as I work multiple jobs but i still do 1 lap every 2 days even though i dont record it!
My teachers are mount Akina and some of you subscribers who leave comments and advices!
None of these videos are monetized, theyre all for my self improvement.
Daily Mt Akina until I can finally go to the real Mt Akina and do it there myself!
I wish to become a professional racer and drifter one day, I will record my process!

Day 42 - Christmas Akina Run with the Moza R9 test
Day 42 Progress :
Hi again everyone, sorry I haven't upload Akina practices for a while, because I was upgrading the Sim Rig and was waiting for the proper mod parts to arrive
before trying out on Akina again! There were delays due to Christmas holidays but we managed to got the parts and today we are practicing at Akina!
This is a new run, as in, I haven't been practicing at all at Akina with the Moza R9! So each corner I was trying out the different types of drifts,
so earlier on the videos are some fails but you can see I started to get comfier throughout the video!
Enjoy your holidays!

@@realTakumifujiwara its been awhile
The trick for you now will be to fine tune the FFB to your liking. Generally for drifting you don't want a too powerful wheel, you want just enough for quick countersteering and to feel the grip for the front tires. You don't want it to be too strong that you have to fight with it or it countersteering so fast that it messes up your transitions. Generally you want to have 100% ffb in your base software and reduce it per car in games. Dampener will help you slow the wheel down if it's to fast.
@@RelaxSimmer i see, yes i feel 100% is too strong that i have to fight the wheel.. if i set the ffb on moza settings to 70, then i set the ingame to 70 also, does it mean it only gets around 50% ffb then? Or does the ingame ffb override the moza pit house settings?
@@RelaxSimmer and is the ffb settings generally better to adjust in assetto corsa general settings or change it during ingame inside the car?
@@realTakumifujiwara if you set the FFB limit in moza lower then 100% then you can start having "ffb clipping" you can look it up but esencially the FFB is too much for moza base to handle and it won't give you accurate ffb past a certain force, it will just feel like a "constant" force. You don't want that you want to feel every little tiny changes in ffb when driving at the limit and ffb clipping is no good. But to be honest that shouldn't be a problem when drifting since us drifters lower then FFB settings to get that fine tuned control over power. If you ever try racing you'll notice this quite fast. I have a 15nm base from Simmagic and personally u run something like 12nm for racing, 10 for rally and 7-8 for drifting. Leave ffb to 100% on your moza software, adjust wheel speed and Dampener to your liking to control the speed of the wheel and then lower the FFB in the car to a level you feel comfortable with. You should find a setting you like after some experimentation.
Glad to see you are improving, hope to see you get even better
@am_sousa2246 thank you!

you're on the right path you will be great after some time
Thanks a lot!
14:08 this brutal understeer happens because you're turning the wheels too quickly, and also holding the same angle during the understeer only makes things worse. If you watch professional drivers they never hold the steering wheel in one position during cornering, they always going back and forth, to stay on that sweet spot where the tyres do their best job (the limit). Scandinavian flick must be done slowly, smoothly, feeling the weight of the car as if it was the water on the cup, you're spilling the water. Quick flick is almost never good, and only for non scandinavian entries
During an understeer, can we still recover it with countersteer?
@@realTakumifujiwaraduring this kind of understeer you recover by steering towards neutral and steering again into the corner, repeatin trying to make the front wheels align correctly with the pavement to regain grip, can't grip if they're perpendicular to the direction you're going, right?. But the best way to "correct" understeer is to prevent it, most of the time it is a consequence of going braking too late into a corner like you did there, you feel compromised to compensate with the steering but this actually makes it worse
10:30 do the Scandinavian as slow as possible, you have to wait for the weight to get to the other side before turning in. Youre doing it too fast and it makes your car not turn as much as it could. But imo Scandinavian flick is just unnecessary, you can just go straight and flick
Ah i see, i thought what people meant by flicking is flick as hard to get the car sideways like in formula drift 😭
Technically you could still learn drifting with your Logitech but it will help switching to something better specially in your case cause you want your skills to transfer to real life as accurately as possible
Yep it just got sold now, im gonna watch some youtubes to check which moza to get!
So I'm at min 11 about to see the practice, first thing I want to say is that I hope you're not growing tired of drifting, I think it's important to keep it at a fun level, don't be afraid to share your practice runs even if they're not clean or you crash, it's fine, I say this as an artist, don't be obsessed with perfection, enjoy the journey, accept failure as part of it. The clips you showed of the guy teaching to drift vs yours, he was pushing the revs close to the limit after the clutch kick with full throttle and then handling the gas to keep them above 5k, his pedal usually doesn't go below 50% gas, whereas in yours, you're starting the drift with 5-6 revs and then droping the gas to around 30%, so it's normal for the revs to go back to 1-2k, specially at that speed. I know I've said this before but I think you should practice by keeping either the throttle or steering fixed in one position and play with the other, it's hard to learn when there's too many variables at the same time
Not a good car to practice doughnuts because it has turbo, the turbo delay is fucking you up when you drop the gas below 50% I think, and also if you go below 30kph its harder for that vehicle to regain those revs in 2nd gear, at 5:08 your gas was full for a.moment and yet the revs stayed below 3k. Because you started the drift at 24kph, when you start a drift, wheel speed and vehicle speed go different ways, (during a drift the speedometer might show 30+kph but this is not your real speed, it displays wheel speed only, so, the moment revs go down, rear tyres starts regaining grip and these two speeds attack each other like magnets cause they have to meet somewhere in the middle, during this matching process it is really hard to make the rear slip again because it's trying to slow down to match the actual speed of your car, and the delay of the turbo only makes things worse, though even NA cars will have difficulties pushing below 3k rpms, at 24kph on 2nd gear . I'm guessing the maximum torque for this vehicle is around 5.5k rpm Tldr; you need a wider space (or higher speed) to practice 2nd gear doughnuts comfortably on that specific vehicle
Idk if I'm explaining this correctly, if you have any doubts just ask
I will read this fully when i get my new wheels and try the donut 🤣
But naww im still having fun with drifting, its just some time factor where i cant fully commit to it yet because of working 2 jobs 😭 but i still love the feeling of drifting and be able to control it, and watching my own replay!
@@realTakumifujiwarahmmm, psychology studies show many people fall into this trap where they feel they can't commit to something cause they don't know if they'll get any results over time (example going to the gym) but then this creates and even worse state where they're not doing what they think they should be doing to improve their life's. I can't really say if this is your case but please take it into consideration, it's always better to just go full in and you'll see results regardless, other times you might find stuff you thought useless can become handy later in your life
You need to help your wheel with your hands like you know you want to countersteer so spin the wheel with hands, with the donuts you need to keed the back wheels spining because when they stop they got grip and you stop sliding and rpms drops. I hope you understand. I also made a new video, if you guys want go check and tell me your thoughts, I am also learning :D
Okay, watched 2 of the latest videos and compared to the last one much less understeer in this video. I suspect that is because you're trying to squeeze in some Scandinavian flicks (Inerta drifts) whatever you wanna call them, and the reason why it's better since you started using that is that a side-effect of you doing them is forcing you to do more "neutral steering". You don't actually need to do any steering at all (just slight inputting into the wheel 2-6 degrees) and you can rotate the entire car using your brake (with the weight transfer), try doing it your self on purpose. You don't really wanna do much counter steering at the entry of the corner. I might be wrong but I don't think you understand how tire slip angle works since I see you steer more into the corner in hopes the car will turn more, saying that sometimes it's good to understeer the fronts on purpose so you don't have to counter steer out of the corner. All of this might sound like mumbo jumbo to you, but it actually quite easy to grasp once you understand the concept and can picture what the tires are doing when they're gripping the surface. Suelio made a really good video today explaing the slip angle and you might get a great benefit in watching it. Go search the following video on youtube: "The True Limit in Motorsports - Slip Angle Explained"
@@RelaxSimmer so is the inertia flick good to use? I sometime achieve neutral steering while most of the time just understeer.. it all depends on my entry speed, how hard i flick and how hard i brake.. if i brake properly, it will be achieved but requires alot of slowing down before the corners but it will reach that "sweet spot " in drifting which is like a 20/80 chance for me at the moment.. i have watched the video too and understood the pivot point of the car but alot of the other stuff is difficult for me to understand unless i found it out myself during the track!
@realTakumifujiwara i would say inertia drift is not necessary to do all the time, the most useful place for it are hairpins, everywhere else I would say you can be faster with regular braking and neutral steering. (Using downshift to get your engine to higher revs and do some braking for you as to initiate a turn help a ton ofc, but doing it too much results in too much car rotation so you will end up having to counter steer and your ass will whip out of the corner slowing you down since you're not maintaining the optimal slip angle to have the maximum grip throughout the corner. But ye these things sound complicated and you need to learn them by experimenting and training your muscle memory, the understanding of these concepts will eventually just "click" but for now it's just good to know they "exist" It's gonna take time so good luck on your journey, its was fun for me I'll certainly say that.
Gold advice
I just tried drifting the tuned 86 and although it's do able it's not the best and is definitely not tuned for it. In your case I think you js need more precise throttle control, try going into the corner a bit slower too. I use the same wheel pedals and shifter so it's definitely possible to do,
yes definitely! in the end its just throttle controls too!
The FFB itself is controlled by the game your playing. And the wheel spinning the opposite way is because your cars front wheels act like a pivot point. Meaning as your rear end slides out clockwise. Your wheel will spin Counter clockwise. The actual Toe and Caster of the wheel is what helps you to counter what your doing. And adequate braking / weight transfer techniques will help you drift without needing to counter all that much Get the FFB / Wheel settings controller in the UI app. And just turn the FFB higher. This will make it much harder to turn the wheel. But in return you will feel a lot more force coming from how your car is handling allowing you to understand it better. The Logitech wheels can't keep up because they have low torque motors. And in order to counter this they give the Logitech wheels lower gearing. The Thrust Master T300RS / RS GT have Belt/Gear driven steering, and also has a higher torque brushless motor inside. over the brushed Logitech ones. I used to do mount Akina on a Logitech wheel. From the driving force GT to the G27 then the G920. And the wheel didn't change one bit on how I drove down the mountain. Just how much I felt. And how I reacted to what the car was doing. As an example in the Logitech wheels because of the low turn rate I needed to manually flick it to counter steer. Which is really funny. As you also do that in real life cars to initiate a drift. Even if you kick the clutch to get the rear end sideways... Anyways I'm done rambling on have a good one !
thank you so much for this :D really appreaciate it, yes I feel like I have to countersteer myself on the logitech rather than just "letting the wheel go and catch the drift" because by the time I left the wheel to countersteer itself, its too late and the car would spun out already.. I will try sell my logitech in my area and hopefully can upgrade to the moza soon!
@@zipasaurus i agree on most points you mentioned and will add just one thing from personal experience. I started from Logitech 923 and quickly noticed the limitations in the wheel compared to what I was seeing on RUclips so I switched to the 8nm fanatec direct drive base. What I learned from that experience is that while I can now use Logitech 923 to achieve stuff I can do now the direct drive base was very beneficial in speeding up my learning process since the forcefeedback was so much more responsive and faster. I was the limitation and the dd base was clearly showing that, but once you learn what you're looking at and what you need to do with a car to achieve these driving techniques you can use the 923 to drive just fine IMHO since you can compensate for some of its weaknesses with the car control knowledge you gain to give your self more time in my opinion. Saying that... owning a good direct drive base is an amazing feeling. I went from fanatec to Simmagic Alpha (15 nm) and it's amazing. The clear threshold of how much grip you have in a turn is so distinct, it really helps a ton. If I recall I thought I heard the mention of "upgrading the moza wheel once you learn more" or something like that, but if you ask me if you know what you're doing is fun and you see your self enjoying this for the forsebale future it might be better to get a better base now since it might help you to learn much faster.
im gonna try to tune the kunos 86 and see how it feels ill let you know.
Give it a go and share if its good! I'll certainly try it :)
its also harder to drift in logitech because the wheel have a weak forcefeedback, thats why i sold it and bought T300. And I can recomend T300 you dont need to buy more expensive wheel, but I bought it from facebook marketplace, so if you have a option to buy a used wheel you can get a direct drive wheel, but I do not recomend use it on your desk because its much stronger and it can damage your table, you will need to get a stand or make a stand like me.
Oh I see.. weak force feedback as in, it reacts slower or? Might sell mine on the marketboard too and upgrade to moza!
@@realTakumifujiwara when you drift your logitech wheel use force to rotate the wheels oposite way so you can keep the angle (thats real physics) but when you have a weak force feedback your wheel is rotating slower and than you spin. Maybe you can give me your social media and I can explain better and also help you to correctly set your wheel settings

You have some serious lights 😅 I cannot see in night. BTW I did the video with RX7 on Akagi and I believe I mentioned you in the video, this will be interesting journey.
@@alegries_ hahah yea im good at nights tbh, i can see pretty clear even with the lights off! Yea good luck on your practices, I see you do forza 5 beforehand too and you're pretty used to driving on the wheels better so it will be an easier progress for yoj 🙂
@realTakumifujiwara @realTakumifujiwara I bought my wheel 1 year ago and so I am used to it a little bit but there is still so much to learn, I just need to practice 💪
OK bedge time 4 hours of sleep before my next shift time to slep and listen to this music ruclips.net/video/y76mCkx6VVM/видео.html&t=
Nice bro, keep it up
I really like your videos.. I am also learning how to drift and you gave me ispiration. I dont want to copy you. Would you mind if I will try to make similiar videos (for example FC RX7 on mountain Myogi)? And maybe later try to make videos together? I am also beginer. You did really nice progress.
@@alegries_ hey man thanks alot :D hope to race you one dat too, id love to see your progress too Tag me once you do but i dont think using the rx7 is ideal for learning as its very fast, wont teach alot about drifting!
@@realTakumifujiwaraI will, thanks..
The point of driving the wdt cars is to learn throttle control and steering, the problems you face when doing touge surface when you're driving the drift cars, you tend to very quickly back off the throttle but you should try being much more confident, try doing a proper big drift but either adjust the steering ONLY or the throttle only, this will teach you how each thing affects the way the car handles. When you adjust your throttle it needs to be much less aggressive and more subtle, if you try lets say a FWD car on a high speed corner and lift so suddenly, the car will spin instantly due to its aggressive suspension settings so maybe you can try a FWD car to learn how to be smoother with your throttle inputs. Try doing a run where your exits are much more confident on throttle and rely on the steering to correct any oversteer, it will be much faster and smoother. But from what I saw in the touge, theres definitely a massive improvement since the last time, the braking is much better and the car loads up much more nicely giving you a good entry, but finding your braking points will help alot at this stage If you want we can talk on discord so I can share setups and you can ask any questions anytime
Thank you! WDTS feels very fun for me to drive and practice.. the AE86 tuned feels like it just slides and the drift is just by braking.. it just slids and the rest depends on throttle control..
@realTakumifujiwara yes, the same can happen on the wdt cars, use the brakes to turn in and rotate before controlling on throttle
@Jadedstuckinschool i feel like its harder to weight transfer on the wdts, and to do any braking drifts.. so far i could only do by either lowering rpm then clutch kick, or clutch handbrake, thats what ive been practicing!
EK Tsukuba Snow would be a much better place to learn how to drift and how to control your car A lot less grip so its way easier to slide I also find it less stressful as you're also a lot slower, like 30 or so seconds slower than a normal EK Tsukuba time so there is less rush and more time to think about what you're doing Also look at 86 tuned/drift world records and fast laps, those cars are usually driven fastest by usually oversteering them a bit so they're really helpful to look at
yes those map wider, akina is very punishing ;-; but the challenge is to drive akina and let the mountain teach me!
9:34 try doing that at the start of a corner its gonna be disorienting but youlle get used to it
always use second gear as well
good luck drifting buddy
the most important thing is to commit
you want the drift meter orange its trying to force you to learn that wheelspin is good in a drift
the actual hard part is getting the countersteer angle right to little you spin out to much and your into the trees think of it like a tightrope
i hope you learn to drift faster with my advice
when you hear the tires squeel GAS IT ALL THE WAY that is very important
what your doing is not mashing the gas but rather tapping it
redline on every drift attempt to oversteer the car then quickly countersteer you see to actually drift you have to go out of control and countersteer and redline the gas to keep that loss of control going that is a drift
