Too bad that Pryor turned into a druggie. He was a great boxer, uneatable at time throughout his career. Drugs took it all away.

Watch Pete Rose’s face light up with a big smile whenever Stan spoke highly of him. Getting compliments from someone he admired must have meant a lot to Pete. In fact getting complimented by a baseball legend is just as meaningful as getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. So though he was never inducted into the HOF, at least Pete got the satisfaction of receiving the high honor granted to him by Stan the Man Musial.

  • @reybarreto7979

Pete was human, all too human, and yet he was bigger than life. I’m just glad to hear Phil Donahue say, in front of the whole world, what the Hall of Fame is so reluctant to acknowledge: “Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present the greatest player in the history of baseball…Pete Rose.”

The likelihood is that Rose's bat was corked. A memorabilia collector acquired a bat used by Rose during his run-up to his 4000th hit and had it x-rayed. Sure enough, the bat was hollow and had either cork or "superballs" in it.

It was only fitting that Pete Rose broke the record in front of his hometown. Since the day Marge Schott bought the Cincinnati Reds, she made it her mission to bring Pere Rose back home because, in her own words. "Pere belongs to Cincinnati, and he should have never left. There is no way I would allow him to break the record in another uniform but a Cincinnati Reds uniform. The record will be broken in his hometown."
