Thank's for giving the measurements for the "bow/tie" antenna it was very helpful. What I don't understand is after watching many videos on various topics the person cannot invest in a tripod, or have a buddy hold the camera still while they explain their work? And another thing that bugs me that so many of the creators of video's like these do not own finger nail clippers?
I hope you come back and start doing more videos Sir. I can feel your pain dealing with RUclips
Wow!! I really like this antenna looks very professional ❤❤
Where's Danny Hodges?
HOW CAN I GET YOU TO INVIGORATE YOUR PASSION ON MAKING ANTENNAS ??? tHANK YOU FOR READING
What antenna is that up on the roof?
I get 7,10,12 high vhf channels.
Would using 8 gauge wire work better since there is no reflector use Cosmic Antenna ??? Thanks V
I was going to ask where you got those porcelain insulators. I see they are plastic msterial.73
How would you make 100 megahertz ground penetrating radar antenna
Thank you Cosmic Antenna for the video Sir. This will help me layout the backbone of the antenna Sir. Have a great day too. v
Wonderful Site, Vids, Resources, sir! Hope you're still kickin!
How much difference is there between FF4 and the FF6 antennas that you made Cosmic Antenna ??? Hope to hear from you Sir. Good day too.
How does this antenna compare to the wisker one with four bowties Sir ??? Nice and informative video fella.
Does larger wire diameter make for a better gaining antenna ???
No. Just makes it less likely to get bent by mistake.
@@davidlang4442 Thanks David.
WOULD increasing the length of the center bows used in the FF6 antenna 12.5 inches to a longer length that would be able to receive channel 6 ABC Philadelphia ?? Thanks CA. v
COSMIC ANTENNA, why do you feed from the center of the elements ?? Nice video Sir.
It is a question of symmetry. The signal developed in the bottom half will be in phase with the signal from the top half so they will add directly. If you make the top and bottom different they won't.
Does this antenna receive a signal 360 degrees Cosmic Antenna ?? Nice video too.
This is the most impressive antenna that I have seen you make Mike. I hope to be able to make something like this soon. Look forward to see you make more great antenna soon SIR. Thanks for your time too. v
Can you please make more videos for us all to learn from Mike ??? Thanks
I hope you can do more videos for us all to learn from Cosmic Antenna.
Nice design, and I am currently building my own version of it. But a quick question: On your site, you state that the bowties are to be 12.5" long, while in the title and description, they are 12" long. Is there a reason for this? Did you decide to shorten by the .5" for frequency reasons? Well actually another question: You told another commenter (about two years ago) that they could make "one of" the bowties 10". Did you mean the pair of them, across from each other? I assumed this, but wanted to ask. And also, I always assumed (we know that is often a mistake! So I ask...) that each pair of bowties needed to be balanced out with an identical set of the same dimensions (as in your FF4 and FF6, which match pairs of the same size). But it sounds like this is not a problem, with your suggestion. Is that correct? It is not a problem? Thanks much for your time! And for all the great info and design ideas.
I hope you can start making videos Cosmic Antenna. Hope that happens soon Sir. Good day too.
Can carbon fiber material be used for insulators?
I made your 12 x15 last week works very good on vhf and uhf, im about 45 miles away from some of the vhf channels , i starting building ff4 just to fine tune the uhf a bit better, they are about 45 miles away , this antenna works very good on all bands i think. Very budget friendly to build. I also build one for my friend of the family, so she can get all her locals channels . years ago i always recommend the eagle Aspen 2 bay antenna to about everyone, but it lacks the longer elements to get the new wavelengths, so is my new go to antenna..
I would just love a signal gain reading from this antenna Cosmic Antenna Do you know what it would be Sir ???
Would you please answer me this ?? How would a get VHF from this antenna ?? Where I live is one of the few places that still use VHF. Which is a giveaway where my location is Cosmic Antenna. I live near Philadelphia. What would you do Mike ?? Thanks and peace too. vf
Good day Cosmic Antenna. Hope you get back into making antennas again. Have yourself a Happy New Year and more of them to come for me and you too. Peace vf
This build looks better than some of the other homemade builds I've seen. I may end up making one, copper and the fencing has went up crazy in price.
What does this pickup best? I don't understand all of the uniformity when you want different frequencies and wave lengths. It's called the bowtie but I don't see any. I see cat whiskers. So do bow tie Uhf only use part of the loop?
I see some designs with Tophats on the Hoverman - have you tried that design and do the tophats help the antenna in any way?
I have seen post where people have complained about loosing their signal after attaching the reflector - I believe that having one on each side of the reflector will give strong signal from the front and back using a signal splitter.
Que función cumple el sombrero de copa, es lo que hace falta en su gran antena.
A similar "bowtie" used to come with portable TVs back in the analog days. It simply clipped to the VHS rods, and worked pretty well. Today I build something stronger, as the digital signals don't penetrate as well.
How many antennas have you built Mike ?? Would you be able to tell me if using thin tubing increase the antennas power Sir ??? Just thinking out loud. Nice video too. vf
I wish you were my neighbor Sir. Would bet anything we could make a antenna that would revolutionize the industry. Your work ethic is second to none Mike. Good day vf
What I am wondering is if you are doing more antenna videos lately Michael ??? I look forward to see more great videos that extend the range of the antenna Sir. Great video and good luck to your future Sir too. vf
Have you tried using top hats to increase the VHF range of the antenna ?? Nice video too.
Which antenna is better, the G-H or the FF6 ??? Thanks
He's not here anymore, boycotting you tube
Do you know why Tracey ?? I would like to know for myself. @@traceyhobbs8331
Copy Mr.Hodges. Been DONE!
At least Danny showed you how to build this antenna. Also Danny has a video for when he actually tested this antenna. This antenna is equivalent to his ultimate antenna. Danny's been making antennas for a long time. Actually Danny's antenna is better this guy forgot the top and bottom elements which makes the antenna for high VHF and UHF. This one here won't pick up VHF unless you are in the City. Not 50 miles away. I also disagree with the limit of 50 to 100 miles. I picked up channel 2 from Detroit Michigan. Our farm was in western Pennsylvania over 150 miles away. We actually picked up three channel 2's one from Pittsburgh PA, and the third one from Buffalo NY and of course Detroit Michigan. But I don't want to hear the bull about digital signals because all radio waves are analog. The picture and sound are in digital form. There is no such thing as a digital antenna. It's a marketing scheme. 73
Does anyone know why I get 90 channels on a scan with the major network channels never below 80% signal strength - and then every channel suddenly drops to zero and are unwatchable, BUT...stations 120 miles from me i that never get, suddenly come in crystal clear? With 80% signal strength? Makes no sense. It happens instantaneously. UHF doesn't skip. My antenna is the same dimensions, but an unmeasured random element-to-reflector distance. Probably 3.5" Atmospherics? Clear-channel scheduled power cuts? The fact the signal is digital? Stumped but fascinated.
I just want to thank you for this information about measurements, does the copper can be replaced with aluminum?
would a reflector with tighter wires improve the signal? or vice versa
thanks mister
6:05 Those pliers are actually horse hoof trimmers.
Stating the dimensions is very nice... however, at 3:15 the narration says " an inch and three quarters on center," but the yardstick marks clearly show 1.5 inches, IMO. Also, knowing the distance between the tips of the whiskers after making the bend is essential, but not given. Therefore, I am unable to build a replica from following solely this video.
Thanks Mike. I really want to build this one. I might be installing it on my mother in-laws rooftop. Thanks for sharing your skills.👍👍 Subscribed.
Copper is not the best. Do more research.
These open end wire antennas without tip eye protectors are very hazardous. Do not make these. A poked out eye is not worth it.
You could always use caps or small amount of silcone on the ends
you are the only guy that explained it well. everybody else is using these microsoft paint drawing sor just talking. and I also needed to know how to handle grounding with use of a splitter, the other guys only ground 1 antenna wire but not splitter is involved! thanks
