What a small, sweet, wonderful show it was in the beginning. I remember it well. Never missed an episode in the early days. But then they started filming before a studio audience, and it was all downhill from there (as so many others in these comments have already pointed out). Oh, well...

Very potent scene to have Fonzie blindsided by a memory like that. He's still cool and tough, just went through a rough spot. Much better than marketing it as a "very special episode" that almost always wasn't.

Mother Jefferson deserved an Emmy. Impeccable timing and spot-on anger.

It sort of went from a funny, sensitively acted, well written sitcom to a stage production where the acting suffered and lines were yelled over the usually raucous live audience. Opie and The Fonz drew me to the show not Chachi loves Joanie. 🤷‍♀️🤷
