How to Replace Window Regulator 996/986 | Porsche 996/986 Window does not Drop
In this video, I will show you how to fix a window that does not drop on your Porsche Boxter or 911. The reason that it does not drop is because over time the cables in the regulators stretch, introducing slack into the system. This is enough to not drop the window below the weather stripping.

In this video, I will show you how to remove and replace an ignition switch on a Porsche 944. Common failure points include the car having ignition power, but when the key is turned, the vehicle does not crank and loses power. Another failure point is the actual plastic that does not allow the key to return to ignition power after cranking. Following this guide, you will be able to effectively ...

In this video, I will show you how to access and remove the throttle body and MAF sensor on a 986 Porsche Boxster. These cars have issues with the throttle body getting caked in oil and carbon deposits, and this causes the flow of air through the throttle plate at idle to be obstructed. Since this is down stream of the MAF, the ECU has to try an compensate for the missing air, and this is where...

In this video, I will show you how to properly install and tension a KLA strut brace on a Porsche 944. Strut braces are used to add more rigidity to the front end of the chassis. This is a welcomed upgrade when it comes to old sports cars because over time the chassis gets fatigued and more flimsy. Adding this bar will help improve chassis movement in cornering.

I replaced my switch ..but when i tested it it didn't work ..
@@stevehunt3847 Does the car do anything when you hit the key?
@TheMileHighMechanic no nothing I replace it because the other one when switched of the dash board lights stayed on and the other one was brown and black inside ..
@@TheMileHighMechanic found out it was the black connector on the back of switch wasn't on properly ..do you know what the red and black wire is that is loose on the loom up to the ignition switch it's a thick wire it's not connected to anything.
so i broke the blue bulb holder where could i get new ones?
@@nahbu721 If you want "free" ones I would recommend a junk yard...alot of rangers there. If not I believe any t5 bulb socket will fit. I would do a visual inspection before you buy them to make sure that they are the same though.
Amazing video! Looking forward to the increased pp size
@@shoobadoo123 Hell yeah 😂
.. Are the Factory ones the pintle (single squirter) type ? Or do they have several small squirt holes ? .. Thanks ..
They have multiple pinholes to increase atomization.
@@TheMileHighMechanic Thank You for the reply ..The Factory OEM Ones have the small holes for atomization ? I have read somewhere the older K24's have the Pintle (single squirter) type from the factory .. wondering if there is an "upgrade" I could do to mine ..
@diverdon55 From what I've seen the replacements have pinholes
Night and day difference! That’s probably the best sounding exhaust I’ve heard on any 944. If you’re not getting commissions for these borla mufflers, you should be! 😂. Thank you!
Great video! I have to do my axle seals next weekend so this helped so much! I got royal purple max gear 75-140 for it so I won't need the friction modifier correct? Just wanted to make sure.
My 03 f150 only has heat, and only blows on the last 2 speeds. A/c does not work. Also while my heat is running i hear a faint whistle. The whistle goes away when i hit a bump and comes back. Any tips? I cant figure it out
Are you in the mile high denver
Pretty close
@TheMileHighMechanic dang heck yea would love to get a parts list for this mod. Seems like the exhaust takes some specialty fabrication. I work on cars around Denver but yet to get deep into mods. I live in Westminster.
@TheMileHighMechanic if you're available for work or help please let me know.
Best and only detailed vid on the net about this. Thank you sir!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

How about a video on resealing sliding rear window on 2002 Ranger? Also, I'd like to install fog lights in factory position. Wiring harness is there. Any idea where I need to install switch?
Does yours not have fog lights currently?
When I installed my stereo on a 2003 ranger I noticed the fog light switch harness there. At least for mine I just need to install the switch
Video was informative but camera skills could use some improvement.
Haha, I would like to say that they have improved since then😂
Thanks buddy great video !
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have a 2000 F350 we changled all the dash bulbs to LED's and we had to change the idiot lights back to incandecent. With LED's installed, they all glowed dimly so you couldn't tell if one was on or not. Plus the top of the spedo doesn't illuminate and I can't figure out which bulb illuminates that part. We left the black caps as LED's since they are brighter for illumination. If you have any suggestions on getting the top of the cluster to light up, I would truly appreciate it. Thank you again for posting this video. It truly was helpful.
All of the bulbs for the backlighting should be labeled ILL if I believe. The top of the speedo is a different compared to all the other larger bulbs. The ones that light up the top are the smaller 74 bulbs. Have you tried replacing those? If so try flipping the polarity just in case (the bulbs shouldn't be polarity sensitive but you never know). I have noticed the slight glow on the ID10T bulbs aswell seems to only happen on the F350 as I have done the same on my ranger of the same year and it is completely fine🤷
thanks! my ac control lighting isnt working at all, gonna check the bulbs
Glad I could be of service
nice explanation, very easy to follow. thanks

What a beauty
Absolutely!
I attenmyed and I have no dash lights at all I tried swapping them and everything I think the contact points on the other side may bahve fallen off so I might need a whole new dash
Have you checked that you have power from the switch to the dash? I could be a wiring issue
Good stuff. I have a 99 with cable tb and front of tb looks clean but damn the back side may look like that 😂😂
Yeah, it is definitely worth a good cleaning!

I just completed the same job and this video was a huge help. I went through the exact same pains as you. The holes didn't line up, and some of those bolts were a nightmare to install. So glad to be done!
@@ryanholcombe oh yeah, quite the job! Takes a little massaging, but it eventually works out...glad I could help!
Interesting, much more low end rumble at idle and sounds louder at idle but when accelerating it did not sound louder, just different in a good way. I really like the sound of that exhaust system.
@@a64738 Really is a great improvement
Nicely explained thank you dude 🤙
@@neilvenners3309 Of course!
I have a question, since the wastegate can control the boost pressure by bypassing the exhaust gases from spinning the turbine, why do we need a blow off valve?
@@kittiphatkittipanyawat4923 The blow off valve release the pressure build up in front of the throttle plate when it closes. Some people don't run a bov, but in my opinion that is harder on the turbo because the excess pressure has to bleed off through the turbo instead of a separate valve. This is where you can get the "dosing" sounds from... pressure waves bouncing between the turbo and the plate.
24hrs???? Who has the time for that
If you don't want the cover to leak you need to let the gasket maker solidify first and then tighten it down, this usually takes close to a day.l depending on the type of gasket.
@ you can get 90minute gasket maker. I changed mine last weekend
@d-dawg9449 that works too
So I just did this yesterday. Ran into a problem that someone else on here put in, the bottom buttons now sound the horn. Watching your video, the right side set of buttons has a gap between the pins on yours. Mine does not. All my pins are together. I wonder if this is the cause of the issue, I'll investigate more when I get home this afternoon. Cheers!
I wonder if the parts are slightly different 🤔
@TheMileHighMechanic Well it seems like the pins may be the trouble. I pulled it all apart and made sure those were right. I found an obscure post somewhere that said the left side pins are made upside down so I flipped that connector and now it's quiet. However I've run into the airbag light coming on. The steering wheel now has a binding noise and sounds the horn when rotating so I believe the clock spring went bad while doing this. I've ordered a new one and will continue more when it gets here.
@@MultiMrow interesting
wondering when you ordered the lights did you only use LED white or did you have to pick different colors so it would match factory? or as you stated its a film that makes the colors?
@@jbeardsm Yep, just a film/plastic that is on the gauge that makes it show green...I just bought all cool white bulbs
great video man,was just wondering if you noticed any increase in cooling performance or just more stability with temps after this upgrade? Also where did you purchase the relay from? Thanks a bunch!
@@zede_boss1657 Performance increases like crazy...this 944 runs the coldest out of any other car I've seen. Temps are definitely more stable when you are sitting at a stop light on a hot day, but the temp usually swings to below the half way mark when driving around. I perchased the relay off of Amazon...just a generic 5 pin relay I believe
@ sweet man, yeah i’m definitely going to do what you did, just get rid of all these cooling issues. Are you still running the stock early car radiator or did you switch to a turbo model?
@zede_boss1657 Same radiator...I probably run so cold because I don't have an ac condenser anymore so there is more air getting to the rad, but I would highly recommend
@@TheMileHighMechanic sounds great thanks so much, total shot in the dark but i’m not too good with electronics, if i already have a lindsey maf running from the ignition coil and i put this relay on it, would the voltage drop be significant enough to prevent something from working there?
How is the highway drone with it? Any noticeable difference?
@@FissionChips1983 0 drone, no difference from stock in regards to drone
