I have a 944 and was quoted around $11,000+ Canadian and it already looks good. Full outside restore and clear back to factory baltic blue. You get what you pay for with paint.

You should also remove your rear side windows, did this recently. Way less difficult than people make it out to be and also gives you the opportunity to upgrade your soundsystem ;)

I'm also restoring an early 944 and I live in Northern Colorado. Can I ask what shop you chose to do your paint job?

It is currently at The Shop Body and Paint. Every one there is very nice and willing to do anything.

How much is this going to set you back? I am about at the same stage with my early 85. I am thinking of eventually trying to do all the sanding/priming prep work myself if I go the repainting route and just having someone shoot the paint.

I am having a shop do all the sanding and metal work because I want the paint jobs to come out the best it can. I figure that they have a method and I best not mess with the prep stage in fear of messing up the final product. They quoted me for 6.5k but I have dents and dings here and there that will need to be fixed so probably more.

DONT reinstall those UGLY bumper pads ( Unless you really want to keep it original) In my opinion they look ugly and they’re only going to give you trouble down the road with corrosion and the nuts separating from the rubber…. Also they’re pretty pricey to replace IF you can find them…. I simply welded up the holes front and rear and eliminated the front license plate bracket holes for a SMOOTH clean bullnose front bumper….

I actually kinda like them, it's kind of iconic

That’s fine, I LOVE your content, The other thing I wanted to mention was I DIDNT remove my mirrors either I found it a bit of a pain depinning each mirror so instead I floated them and my painter did a PHENOMENAL job working around that. I also had my painter remove my hatch for a complete paint job,I also removed my quarter windows a the painter removed my hood….. I prepped ALL my plastics, But my painter prepped all the metal body panels…. I HONESTLY couldn’t have gotten a BETTER paint job for the price I paid… I can’t WAIT to see yours once it’s finished…👍👍👏👏👏👏

@@TheTr0uble That's pretty much what I had them do too. I am going in a somewhat different direction with the paint, at least as the time period is concerned, so we will see if it comes out as I hope 🤞
