    Thumbnail cool. Hairstyle cool. I'm currently stuck in a business I built that doesn't match my likes or values because it worked and I followed the money. Pays well. Kills my soul a little every day. Working on my other business on the side to escape eventually. Sucks, don't do it. Stick to your values.

    This advice is really helpful for someone who doesn’t really struggle with distraction or temptation while working. You mentioned you are one of those people. But a large portion of people today heavily struggle with distraction and some have actual disorders that make it that much harder. I don’t feel like you are the target audience of these “dopamine detox” videos because you explicitly stated said you feel zero temptation while working. That immediately negates the whole narrative that drives a lot of these other videos. Appreciate the video, but this honestly seems very much catered to people who already have a good sense of will power and self control, which is not the demographic that this “detox” movement is really about.

    Nice video! I had failed to realize this when I was 5 years younger, that the morning routines that we see most influencers and youtubers push are very suitable for "creative" work that one can mostly do at home. I simply couldn't translate it to my own life as I needed to get to work at 8:00 AM. So, clarifying to myself why I need a morning routine helped me a lot. "WAKING UP". that's it. So my morning routine now is just 30 minutes long that includes as many push-ups and stretches I can do within that time. That wakes me up!

    Josh, incredible shit I just saw. I have a question though: when you said, “when you’re cooking, don’t listen to music” is that just referring to the overall message of focusing on one thing/being present and not drowning out cooking with music? Because I don’t seem any harm in dancing around the kitchen and having fun whilst you prepare your dinner sometimes. Curious for your answer!

    this is a pretty individualist look at how society works and tbh if feels like a false "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" take that won't benefit anyone in the long run. things suck! you are not individually responsible for society making your life worse! not everything should fall on you, the individual's, shoulders. these are called societal ills for a reason. you need mass change, not just some "everything that happens to me is my fault" mentality, which if you think about it, is way more victimizing than just saying "the world kind of sucks for everyone and i should contribute to making it better". this is ACTUAL laziness!

    I feel like this ties into the Jungian analytical psychology as discussed by csjoseph community, specifically the demon and child functions. I'm not knowledgeable enough to elaborate in a useful way, but that would be super interesting to cross reference your life experiences and takeaways and see if those theories ring true from your perspective.

    Why does a video for people who have trouble paying attention have this much gratuitous dialogue? I don't need an architect metaphor bro just tell me what the steps are. It's like making a class to help alcoholics quit that you can only join if you're sober for a week

    • @impactfulideas
      @impactfulideas 4 месяца назад

      I disagree bro. If the steps are all you needed, then a quick google search would sort you out. The problem is implementing steps. Using things we already understand as Metaphors help synthesize the 'why' behind the step or the idea. That's what people need to make changes in their lives

    I literally don't even know if you showed animations here because I listen to RUclips while doing chores, rarely actually watch. It's frustrating when someone is showing something instead of just saying it, making me have to stop what I'm doing, take phone out of pocket and rewind to see what I missed. Also I absolutely hate those stock video clips so many channels add. It's the visual equivalent of "um". So yeah, imo good call to put your time into the meat and drop the frosting. Your discussion made me think of how easy it was to manipulate myself into stopping the instagram vomit scroll just by removing the icon from my home screen. Forgot it existed for days. Pathetic really, but better to know the truth.

    Loved this fresh new perspective. I'm happy that you're not easily distracted and you don't procrastinate. Your self control is insane. I hope to achieve this kind of self control. What I'm currently doing is trying to be mindful. For example, when i pick my phone, i try to be aware that I'm doing that and then i ask myself if i want to and if it will make me happy in the long run then i choose either to leave it or use it, depending on what i deduce. Before i just used to do things mindlessly. My self control is not as great as yours but I'm building it one step at a time. Thanks for the video ❤
