I have a pj fig i collected 38 years ago. Great base but too tall and spindly. Im in Melbourne. What time of year would you do a severe cut back? Also i want to air layer some 50mm branches before i prune. When would you air layer a pj fig and how long do you think it would take to root? Thanks

Hi Jeff just found this vid, its what I've been looking for as i inherited a chinese elm from my father 10 years ago which is in a big tub, and as i have just got into bonsai wanted to put it into a wooden box to start, about 6 inches deep. This vid has given me confidence to have a go in the next couple of months. It will then be spring in the UK.

I still come back after 2 years to watch this video again. That is a really nice tree. It's one that I think of every time I see a prune tree.
