Great find Jeff.. I think I prefer the upright position. Lovely movement and taper in the trunk which I think the upright displays more clearly

Nice I don’t think I have ever seen a hawthorn in the bush

Benjamin there are 100s of banksias there are only one that I know where you can trunk chop as much as you want and not fear it won’t bud back. And that’s serrata saw tooth, the others you need to leave foliage on it. Which means chop it back to the bottom branch hope this helps.

Is this a European Hawthorn or do you have a native variety? Here in the UK I find it difficult to keep them alive with not much roots.
