I’m new to your channel and I really enjoy your informative videos. Btw I’d just like to ask you, is it still ok to heat style your hair if you have early scarring alopecia (provided you use a good amount of heat protection of course)? I’m asking because ever since getting my diagnosis of early scarring alopecia, I’ve been too scared to use heat on my hair but I miss straightening and blow drying my hair so much. My hair doesn’t look nice when it isn’t styled lol.

Hi Sobrina, I too have scarring alopecia and I’m surprised to hear you’ve had hair regrowth.Scarring alopecia destroys the hair follicle, making regrowth impossible. So how did you get your destroyed hair follicles to regrow hair? Are you saying vitamins did this?

FYI…. Be careful with FDA-approved drug Olumiant….the drug causes all kinds of side effects, and I don’t know if anyone want their immune system to be greatly impacted just have a head full of hair that could possibly lead to death #BeCareful Never heard of the other drug mentioned

Also, I received 4 rounds of steroid injections in the scalp. They are supposed to calm down the inflammation. In my case, it did not help. And yes, it was painful, especially in areas where my scalp was really tender. They will usually give you a stress ball to squeeze while another person comes in the room and massages your scalp as the doctor gives you the injections.

Sobrina, do you use oils on your scalp? I wonder if you might be lowkey allergic to some of the ingredients in what you're putting on your scalp...

I was never diagnosed, so I don’t know what kind I had, but giant bald spots that appeared kinda overnight outta nowhere - yes - with scalp, irritation - no, but definitely far more sensitive! I tried the Keranique regrowth treatment with minoxidil and that did regrow my hair within about 4-8 months. I could not use it as directed, I had to use faaaaarrrrr less than suggested because using more than literally just one drop on the affected areas did highly irritate my scalp, BUT, it worked nonetheless! Then I stopped using the regrowth drops, and I’ve never had another bald spot since. I focused on de-stressing my life, healing traumas, and taking really, really good care of my total health & wellness, not just my hair. I’m talkin’ physical, mental, emotional, & SPIRITUAL health & wellness. All the things! That was over 10 years ago. I’m happier and healthier than ever before in many ways. I’m free from the person who was abusive at that time. I love myself and God more than ever!
