Aussie Truckie on Highway 31
Австралия
Добавлен 31 дек 2023
Aussie Truckies haul everything everywhere. This is my little corner of the country, Highway 31, Sesame Street, The Great Southern Road, what ever name you have for it.
These are my Adventures as a truck driver in Australia, with my little single trailer and European truck.
I hope you enjoy the trip.
In the second video I explain the jack/brad name change, unfortunately I can’t change it on RUclips for another two weeks.
For day to day pics and carnage on the hwy head over to my Facebook page and hit the like button.

The Slow down in frieght continues so it's back in the heavy rigid. Actually I've been in the rigid most of the week. It's not a good sign this close to chrismas, but time will tell. Anyway, After we finish the usual Canberra Drops It's Down to Bookham to explore a forgotten section of Hwy 31 and Drop some bread off at Jugiong. I hope you enjoy the trip Thanks For Watching If your interested in...

Well Well Well This was not expected. With wet weather ahead the truck seems to have shrank ha ha. This week I was taken back to 2006 and driving army R model Macks with Quad Dogs on (where my HC Licence came from) because that was the last time I've driven a Rigid Truck this big. Lucky For me its a pretty easy day, so my main focus was on steering a little truck once again. And there's a Jugio...
Vlog#44 A Winery Drop, And A Closer Look At Bookham

As the sickness falls further behind I have a new firsts with a winery drop off at Murrumbateman, and then head south back onto Highway 31 to the tiny town that once housed the largest collections of vintage machinery Bookham. Barney's Cafe is the foodery of choice this week, and the prices are pretty spot on with other small cafes along the Hume. And then not just for old time sake, but for wo...

Another week sick on Hwy31, and another video I'm not happy with the quality but here it is anyway. After a beautiful sunrise and a quick first drop the day goes down hill fast with a almost 2 hour wait in Fyshwick And I just cant catch back up after that. We drop a pallet of seed off at Coolac and once again drop in to Gundagai Meats with 4 pallets of packaging they were desperately needing. T...

There's one thing worse then work, and that's having to work while your sick. After a week on a water diet and no sleep this mess got thrown together so there wasn't a gab in the release schedule. In between the coughing and deliria I drop some pallets of silage wrap to Coolac and one to Tarcutta with a parcel for the Tarcutta Ampol which yes that means its coffee and lunch there. I have no ide...

Apologies RUclips, I try some new camera angles in this one and some don't work. Also all of the montage travelling has audio behind it and isn't sped up because I'm trailing some new audio in this one. If you get to a section of the video without music its because it turned out to be copyright even though the title said it wasn't. But to the video, this week as the sun begins to rise earlier a...

I was going to release these as two separate drop videos, but decided to do a full day trip with It. I was then going to cut the music out and not have sped up footage for the travelling scenes, but at a hour and a half long I wasn't prepared to release a video that long. So What did I do? Ha ha. 90h duvet letting it roll off the hills. Sounds about right for us. Great video as always.
@ yeah shouldn’t single them out, everyone’s doing it
@@Brad_The_Truckie Why not? We don't have cameras in our trucks or emails going out to everyone saying we're going too fast. Ha ha
@ ha ha
Brad, if you keep coming even further north i will have to organise breakfast somewhere lol. Soon enough it will be Sydney bound lol. Great video but we missed out on the lunch review from Tarcutta or did you get nothing.
If I’m heading up to Sydney somethings gone wrong ha ha. No lunch that day, coffee at Yass and expressed back to the yard
Nice vid. Looking at how awkward it was to get steel off, would have been nice to see it go on.
Unfortunately the trailers loaded (mostly) before I get there to start the day. And not to knock on the old guy unloading but it’s not something he did on a daily basis, a long load like that isn’t as awkward as he made it look.
Hello Brad hope you are doing well, good to see you go up north a bit more, another great vlog,I will say I am 44 and just passed my HR License last week
Thanks mate, I know a couple of blokes that got thier licence later in life. If you have a clean driving history there should be less time needed between licence classes
There’s a old highway alignment through Bowning it called Bowning Road and the Original Burley griffin way alignment that it went through Bowning is now called Red hill road it still connects to burley griffin way at its western end it was in use before the present day burley griffin way turn off that end on the Hume highway. I love the concrete sections of the Hume highway it so soothing to drive on especially between Yass and Goulburn
Thanks for the info mate, next time I’m in the rigid I’ll turn off there for an explore.
@@Brad_The_TruckieI was going to say don’t go there in the semi because there’s absolutely no merging lanes on to the Hume. Every time I drive on the Hume highway I find the concrete sections are peaceful to drive on
Yeah it looks like a fun exit back onto the hwy. personally I find the concrete sections of the Hume better to drive in for the most part. But when it starts to fail it gets rough
Looks like a cruisy run driving around with just a rigid.
It really is mate
@Brad_The_Truckie 👍
Yard truck. Ha ha. Great video again. Makes me want to drive a rigid around town. I did that before I had my license.
Why around town? Do the same Mildura to Perth run in a rigid and get paid the same. Okay maybe not but it would be good to do it
You bought back some memory's Thanks. In the 1980's if you where only doing 50mph you'd be told to get off the road for going too slow, there where trucks doing up to 100mph along there. That road use to be a racetrack at night. You have no idea on how fast it was. There where little rigids the paper trucks they where bullets.
@@brianwillert2833 thanks mate, I can only imagine what it was like. And on that tiny road as well. Funny thing is it seems there’s still just as many crashes these days and it’s a 4 lane straight run
Want kinda pipe ya rigid have bruv it makes it sound like a screamin Jimmy. Love the overlay and the return of the 28 bit zz top all round another quality upload.
@@nathansmith2802 ha ha yeah wanted to add some sounds of the old days instead of the Volvo fart. There’s a e9 and 3408 in there somewhere as well. Thanks for watching mate
Thanks!
@@grahamehince6563 thank you
Your Lovin the rigid!?? Try driving one in Melbourne!!🤪. 450hp is awesome though, mine is a 280hp Hino Heavy Rigid and with a full load she’s struggling. I’ve strapped down a Ridge Rider cooler/heater to middle seat and works well but of course I’m the only driver for my rigid so easy to set up and keep it as I like it, and yes rattles here and there too but fixed most of them😁. A rubber strip under the wind deflector will stop that rattle….anyway safe travels Brad love the vids👍
@@xxmotovlogs9809 I hate even driving a car through Melbourne ha ha. Sounds like your set up innit thou
Hey Brad, nothing wrong with a tiny rigid mate, could be only a single axle infant 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Kylie
Shit video ... must be on drugs
Can the ridgid do a skid ?
I haven’t been able to get ha ha, does under steer thou
Is your left hand head light gone in that ridged of am I seeing things..😂
Yeah, good way to start the day
Thanks for the flyover of Jugiong hill. Been up and down it quite a few times, but always in the dark, doing Greyhound overnight. Driving an Australian Autobus with M11 Cummins tweaked to 500HP, I would pass heaps of trucks going up the hill, but then pi** off all the truckies going down the other side because I was Tachograph limited to 100kph, but they didn't have a Tachograph to worry about. And it was Happy Hour. (no Highway Patrol from about midnight to near 5am.)
Ha ha great story man thank you for sharing. I hear a lot of blokes as soon as they get past the pub it’s foot to the floor and send it
First time I've seen Bookham since it was bypassed ... doesn't look any different. On long weekends during daytime, there used to be traffic jambs, and it was aptly named ... the NSWHP used to terrorise everyone in the 60 zone.
Do you remember there ever being a pub in town? It’s usually the one thing that stays til the end but I can’t see and trace of it
Hello Brad Another good video You adapted well to the shrunken truck Was good to see the footage in the big truck to Yet again great video buddy
Thanks mate.
Gday Brad, a rigid aye! Welcome to my world and yes very different to driving a semi. Not that I’ve driven a semi anyway but I wouldn’t attempt some manoeuvres in my rigid that I’ve seen semi drivers do, especially here in Melbourne. 😅 keep safe mate..
Thanks mate yeah even feeling more solid on the road in a semi compared to the rigid. More tyres to slow you down if needed. But I won’t lie the workload so far is a lot easier in the rigid
Hey Brad great video again in the rigid for somthing different. I went to gundy bakery last Tuesday but just parked up a bit further near the table and chairs lots of caravans parked in usual spots. Still worth the extra little walk tho always great food! 👍 Catch ya around.
Thanks mate, I’ve seen trucks and rigids parked in the park across the creek. You can drive right around and come back up the next street. I’m back in the rigid today so want to do some exploring
For a well deserved sandwich platter
Ha ha thanks Kylie. Sadly I haven’t seen a platter in there since I got the last one. But now I walk in and the owner asks if I want “the usual” so I guess I’m a regular customer now
Oh Brad lol, you were absolutely a fish out of water. It's amazing how a simple thing changes our complete routine and structure. There is no worst videos thank you very much, all great and very entertaining. I'll be heading your way in about a months time to see my dad in Yarra but i will message you as it gets closer. Stay safe and i hope you had a great weekend after that day.
Cheers yeah let me know when you’re coming down. Spoiler alert for next week, it’s back in the rigid but at least this time I know it’s coming
Haha.. bloody perfect. Geez I love seeing the hills and dark clouds.
Thanks mate, unsure if you’ve checked out my other channel, but here’s a like to some more mountain shots ruclips.net/video/bzW3ieP28xQ/видео.htmlsi=V5d9a27Ly7BQTNPY
Hi mate what app do u use for your log book and do u find it easy to use also I’ve owned Volvo trucks since 2002 and they have been a pretty good truck Cheers
Hi mate I’m using Hubfleet. It’s costing me almost $12 a month which is more expensive than a paper log book. But it’s great not having to count hours, spell towns correctly or have yellow copy sheets floating around. I think most use a dummy iPad or phone and upload the day when they get home, that is probably the best way to go. Using my iPhone 14 it uses the gps and most of the time marks your location as the last tower you passed. And every time you manually change location you have to make a note of why. It looks like your trying to fudge the record which is easy to do but it’s a tech issue and I’m just waiting for nhvr to have a look at it because I just put a . In the comments.
I posted a winery vlog bc u inspired me!💝
Thanks for watching, feel free to post the link so we can have a look
Story of my life, surrounded by f..k wits
I used to love visiting the wineries. I get really typsy with all the samples.
@@RoadTrainAdventures ha ha yeah only did it once, things got a bit messy
@@Brad_The_Truckie Sounds like fun
Hi mate your question to gcm/gvm I have a lovells up grade on my 79 series gxl and ute is 4 ton and with the van on I can go 7.5 ton Cheers
Hi mate thanks for the info. At least you’ve done the hard work to upgrade the Ute so it can tow that weight. It also helps the cruiser is still built strong chassis wise. There’s a lot of twin cab utes that aren’t. I saw a vw small suv pulling a dual axel van up the hwy yesterday, there’s no way that thing would be allowed to tow 3 ton. Many just don’t know how heavy they are or what they can legally tow
@@Brad_The_Truckie correct there is a lot of vehicles out there that should not be towing any sort of trailer/caravan but they are the ones that don’t get caught by the way love your videos I’m an ex truck driver and love seeing how the Hume has changed Cheers mate
@@ShayneHower thanks mate, please don’t take the comments in the video as “anti vaner” I tow one myself
Hello Brad Another great look at your trip The drone shots are awesome, was great to see the old machinery
Thanks mate
Gday Brad, another nice vid mate. I feel your anxiety, I pick up at a Kennards Storage in a 14 pallet rigid where you can drive straight through but have to back out because of the way cars are parked on the other end. It’s on North Rd in Huntingdale which is quite busy and a bus lane as well, one day I got stuck in the dip between the driveway and the road because some idiot decided to not wait for me and I had to brake suddenly which put the drive axle right in that dip couldnt go anywhere🤦🏼♂️. I eventually dropped the air out of the rear bags and was able to get out😊High level anxiety I can tell you with others watching as well 😅
Oh wow, hats off to ya mate I can’t even stand a delivery van in a busy area. Delivery drivers in the city are a different breed.
Hi Brad, well Bookham was entertaining but i wonder if all that machinery is worth anything these days . How far have we come in modern times, would be good and bad i suppose like everything. That colds just about on it's last legs thankfully. Take care mate until next time.
The old stuff it probably worth more then the newer stuff. All the gear at the machinery sales place is small and suit hobby farmers. We had a small half ton super spreader on our dairy farm and it was too small and took too long to do the paddocks. All the expensive stuff like steam and traction engines are long gone when the sales happened. It’s mainly just old ploughs etc
@@Brad_The_Truckie It would have been so cool to be around when the steam era was on. At least we have some of those things now that have been restored that are beautiful
@@KylieMuir I mention this in tomorrow’s members video. I love old steam rally’s etc and seeing the old gear running
@@Brad_The_Truckie Been on a few trips behind 3801. What a gem she is
