What's Holding The MLB Back from Being Like The NBA
Major League Baseball Will NEVER Be the NBA. Ever. The NBA thrives on competitive balance with a strict salary cap that allows even small-market teams like the Milwaukee Bucks to retain superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, building championship-caliber rosters. But MLB? It’s a different story. With no salary cap, big-market teams are dominating the landscape, making it harder for small-market clubs to keep their stars and stay competitive. In this video, we’ll explore why baseball is starting to resemble the Premier League rather than the NBA, creating an environment where financial heavyweights control the field.

A 12 hour flight? Did they fly around the world twice? PR to Orlando is like less than 3 hours.
I have his autograph
Thanks for all the information, will you be covering the 2025 season lol it’s going to be my first season watching it lol
Definitely subbed
Ohtani ihas an honest heart, purity, and strong beliefs. What made him successful was his talent and humanity.
His name is Dick Skank? Tf
Nice job on this video! It really is miraculous what Rich was able to do with the big man.
Wrong Bush 😂
Is it true he didn't even graduate from junior high and he is illiterate?
Red juice? That stuff rappers drink?
Hard work pays off overtime !!
🇵🇷💪
Take a shot for every time he says Shohei Otani
I want to see a video of the downfall of the 2010s SF Giants. I mean how do they go from a dynasty run in the early 2010s to being ran into the ground? As a Dodgers fan I almost feel sad for the Giants fans and do think it's much more than the problems in the city it is in itself. (mostly ownership and a toxic culture within the organization)
When I see Ohtani in the title, I click....
While the Luxury Tax could be a viable alternative to Salary Cap, MLB should have the Salary Floor of $100m, forcing the owners of the small market team to spend the minimum amount before the opening day. If fails, the team will lose the 1st and 2nd Round Draft Picks.
The NBA is completely unwatchable. It's losing fans by the day. Why would I care about something that the people playing don't even care.
I don't want it to. NBA is wack now.
Americans are no longer the best athletes in the world...at least on the men's side.
Only the last 3 years he's been great. He's a late bloomer. Unless he keeps up his game he's not going to be remembered because he's not breaking career records. He's overrated. He ruined his career because he started as a two way player. I think hes going to fall apart soon. 3 years of being a good hitter if you stop pitching wont get you the HOF. He might make the HOF just because hes a DEI hire.
sell the team🟩🟨🐘
thats why hes the goat🙏
40/121
The grand slam against the Phillies was the highlight of the ‘24 season for me. 💪🏻💙🧡
The GOAT
Ohtani probably used that notebook with his father, but I think people are missing a huge fact that he uses the Harada method, which is used for self improvement and leadership. If you google "Shohei Ohtani Harada Method" you will see a huge chart with all his goals. I think Ohtani's high school coach is pretty smart; he coaches at a small school in Japan that produced Shohei Ohtani, Yusei Kikuchi, and his son who's the number one high school player in Japan that set the high school home run record will be playing at Stanford.
Today's NBA sucks! I used to watch it from the late 80's to early 2000's, when it was fun and competitive. Now its a bunch of cry babies flopping all over the court like soccer players.
Is no cap the problem or cheap owners not wanting to spend is the problem?
Games AVG HR RBI H OPS 53 .203 15 31 41 .761 POST SEASON CAREER STATS. The great disappearing act. Just not a money player, not a champion.
Baseball is rising in Asia and eastern europe
Man, got a tear in my eye when you mentioned the free tickets😭😭 I used to get free tickets for bucks games at pick n save all the time as a kid💀💀
Pick n Save and for reading a book at school! Spend like $100 on groceries, and you would get a couple of free tickets. Was so easy back then.
I used to get free Mets tickets all the time too
The mlb needs to start flopping like harden when players get tagged. There needs to be a salary floor tbh in the MLB.
Trying to say baseball is dying by saying its like the most watched sports league in the world isn't really helping your case. MLB has never been so popular internationally
baseball teams are worth more than nba teams. the mlb is about teams not individuals. individuals dont accomplish shit or make anything great about team sports. its not about the players its about the team and winning games. people dont deserve hype for playing school yard games. they arent saving lives playing sports
Rays until this year proved you don't need a high payroll to be competitive. It's the owner's job to pay players if they want to keep "the player fans want." League revenue seems fine, so it doesn't seem like fans are not showing up when things are shaken up. Even in basketball, free agents usually just end up in the popular cities.
And next year they will be in a playoff push
Nothing. Baseball is past it's prime.
Not popular? Didn’t you see the Dodgers WS parade recently? Doesn’t hurt that a unicorn like Shohei Ohtani is bringing new fans from global markets and bringing back old fans who left baseball after the PED era..
I prefer no salary cap, just for the players. That means the players can get more out the owner pocket.
MLB has been increasing in viewership, while the NBA has been declining. It’s not all that bad.
Baseball has the worst owners and a crappy commissioner. Easy!
2020s dodgers fireworks were ALOT louder than 2020 lakers fireworks in LA so that tells me something
thats not how it works at all
yankees and dodgers make the world series together once and people go crazy
Lakers vs Celtics, Nicks vs Pacers, Shack, Magic, Kobe, Bird, etc. Today's NBA SUCKS!
The problem is the players will never agree to a salary cap and the owners will never agree to a salary floor
Nah i like the soft cap approach the mlb currently employs. Do you want to know why european football leagues are so competitive? It's because relegation exists to threaten the revenues and therefore value of the club, so clubs will do their best to stay up.
Agreed.
Its Global marketing
When you've reached your first hundred years, then maybe we'll hear you. You've got average height complaining about short people to tall people.
nba is shit lol
The first time I swung a baseball bat was when I was 2, or in 2018. 4 years later, I'm playing in age 5-8 baseball games (For fun). 2 Years later (Today), I broke 6 records for my team, which was a homerun first 113ft, then 133ft, then 176ft, and in the 7th inning, I hit a 3 run homer as 221ft, now 244ft, and my farthest is...272ft!
