A guide to attributes & fields - blender geometry nodes
Просмотров 30 тыс.Месяц назад
Baffled by attributes? Stumped by fields? This video is for you. In it I break down the fundamentals of geometry nodes, explaining the core concepts that make them work … and so powerfully so. “There’s a wide wide world of geometry nodes. It’s such a big world, with so many nodes it sometimes feels impossible to navigate. So, in this video I explore the things that all nodes have in common - Bl...

A brief guide to the Random Value geometry node in Blender - how it works and a few of its most common uses. *A different version of this video was published earlier today. This version corrects an inaccuracy in the narration pointed out by a observant viewer. If you've already seen it, watch it again for the five new words.* If I want something random in real life I ask my friend Elliot. But w...
orchestrate your simulations with geometry nodes in blender
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.4 месяца назад
This video teaches a method for sequencing geometry node simulations with the index switch in blender. The scene used is available for free on my gumroad so do go get it (but you better watch the video too because I'm going to feel really sad if you don't). This technique is a very neat way to organize complicated simulations. It allows you to design them in stages with unique position evaluati...

Content as if you are a 3 million subscriber channel. Your videos are top notch quality and your audio is amazing!
the best geo tutorials ? Sir Harry Blends!!
Woah woah woah buddy, slow down, you had me at the "luke" node. I'll subscribe. Buy me a drink first lmfao
The storytelling, the pacing, the entertainment, the slowed down emphasis on certain important parts, the quality of the results... this tutorial literally has everything! I hope your channel blows up!
Yea great. Don't get it anyway. And can't understand how anybody here can 😅
Incredibly well presented and edited. Just amazing. Thank you 👏
wth , how??? you made it make sense , finally thank you so much harry <3
I still don't understand why it's based on the index of the instances and not the verticies? If the Sample Index node is bringing the position and index information that it has gathered from itself and applying it to the collection of words you've created wouldn't it be the case that the index is based on the index of the verticies (where it's coming from) and not the instances (what it's being applied to)? I am thoroughly confusing myself I think.
Please do more
Great tutorial, one of the most explanatory video on a very difficult object I've seen so far, I would say this is even more abstract topic you did explained with this tutorial in a really interesting and clear way. Great job! Keep creating. I would appreciate if you could create tutorial which can be practical with geo node, for example how to control point and their normals pointing in/out the its center of the mesh, or the group of points, how to control the spaces between the individuals or the groups, how to control the sizes in relation (distance to center of the mesh, vertex map, or a group of objects). Those are really practical and like the essence of geometry nodes.
Surely this video brings up light on topics that most videos on geometry nodes don't even consider dealing with But still it's way way far from what should be taught about geometry nodes and in general how 3d software think of geomtries in general Meaning the bigger picture and idea are still no where to be found in this vid nor any other out there in the world!
This video is the best explanation of attributes I've seen.
You just got another subscriber. This is by far the best tutorial I’ve seen in a looooonnng time. Thank you! 🙏 ❤
i hope more people found this , your channel such a hidden gem to learn simulation node!
You are godsend to this world thanks you for the great tutorial❤
the best blender puns in the business. ....... thank you, sir, may your YT channel grow, u most certainly deserve it!
I need to reproduce every single step of this video just to understand what's going on :-D Extremely cool tutorial, thank you
Thanks!
Love it. Especially your slightly sarcastic commentary. Brilliant. But from nodes still messed with my head, it’s not you, it’s me 😂. I will get there in time. Great video
As a musician, I congratulate you on the music, which expression is closely related to the content. Excellent GN explanation, needless to say...
Brilliant thanks :)
this channel is not a 100k yet why?
Now.... How would i align these books on a shelf instead of a pile?
Incredibly well done, very entertaining and enlightening. Your tutorials are also masterfully narrated. Thank you for this contribution to the Blender community!
I am amazed with how clever this is. Great quality.
From someone, who spent a lot of time teaching geonodes* I find this video very correct, in particular explaining fields as instructions is clever and very close to the truth: they are functions. The problem being, saying "function" to someone who has no experience in programming isn't really saying much, so this is the explanation I might use from now on towards beginners. An alternative I'm using currently is to teach to read the node tree from right to left, where each node is like a server that receives a request from the right, and works on it, often making its own requests to the left, to other servers, before finally calculating the output and pushing it to the right. In such view there isn't really a difference between fields and values, except for performance. The execution is top. As a perfectionist I can definitely appreciate little details like the nodes being aligned. Unfortunately not much information is being communicated in comparison to the time spent on making the video, but if it teaches people, who otherwise couldn't be motivated to read a wall of text, then no doubt it's a win. I agree with the unintuitiveness of contexts. I even wrote a proposal on rightclickselect, but I was basically blown off, with my post seemingly published (visible to my IP) but invisible to everyone else and no feedback whatsoever on what's the issue... cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/870021681849204797/1260656140866420828/firefox_cWFTnrAu43.mp4?ex=66f10345&is=66efb1c5&hm=486b43d778c255443a8e7b271563e46d4122616468f0ba4e3c8461a695775e41& *if anyone here is interested in some in-depth explanation on how to read node trees to stay sane: - Combine two position nodes (uses Transfer Attribute, non-existent in B3.4+, but the logic of evaluation is still the same) <blender.stackexchange.com/a/251310/60486> - Raycast + Align Euler to Vector. Wrong Hit Normals <blender.stackexchange.com/a/253612/60486> - What Does Capture Attribute Add to Geometry <blender.stackexchange.com/a/292029/60486> - Understanding how "vertex of corner" works in geometry node <blender.stackexchange.com/a/292389/60486> - Passing Data Into Simulation Zone <blender.stackexchange.com/a/296223/60486>
Maybe You can help me: If I have split edges in the mesh, and I want each first point offset to one direction and the second point of each edge to be offset to the opposite direction, and then both points rotated around their original position z-axis - first by 30 degrees and second to -30 degrees. How to do that?
This is the best video about blender ever I seen
I was about to drop learning geo nodes until I realized nodes have their own journey
this video format is very polished and effective , thank you
Diffcult to learn
Clearly explaining tricky concepts and making it look good too. Brilliant!
Why is your voice so good, i wanna have it
One of the most perfect tutvids of all time!!!
5:53 You got it wrong mate "Ctrl + Shift + D" not Ctrl + Alt + LMB
This is a reall, really well made video. Both in the way you manage to break everything down in understandable bites of information and the way you present it. The animations and/or screencaptures all work together well and it's all really polished and professional. Well done!
It's "depricated" not ”depreciated", btw ;)
Yeah, when I realized I’d done that I almost defribrillated
@@harryblends The content is greatly appreciated, though 😁
why we need realize instances? why it doesn't work without it ?
Wow man your page is awesome
This is the best blender tutorial I ever watched. I’d sub 1000 times if I could
this is the first video I've seen by you, and I have to say, outside of the video quality and the really nice presentation of information, I'm subscribing because your voice is incredibly nice to listen to
Very helpful and excellent explanation!
Noooooo... Not the Phil Collins mode! LMFAO
Thank you sir.
I love the blender community.
I need some help understanding at 11:35 how the set position is operating on the index of the instances and not the vertices. The instances are all at 0,0,0 so how do they move to the indexes of the verts if the field isn't passing along the position information of the vertices at their respective indices?
Production quality and script are off the charts! Well done. Subbed! What did you make this video in?
Thanks. My basement. Captured in Blender and edited in Premiere Pro
Congratulations on such an incredible explanatory video! It's truly a privilege to have access to such a well-executed tutorial for the community. Best regards, and thank you very much!
Thank you
