A guide to attributes & fields - blender geometry nodes
Просмотров 76 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Baffled by attributes? Stumped by fields? This video is for you. In it I break down the fundamentals of geometry nodes, explaining the core concepts that make them work … and so powerfully so. “There’s a wide wide world of geometry nodes. It’s such a big world, with so many nodes it sometimes feels impossible to navigate. So, in this video I explore the things that all nodes have in common - Bl...

An animated guide to the Random Value geometry node in Blender
Просмотров 6 тыс.7 месяцев назад
A brief guide to the Random Value geometry node in Blender - how it works and a few of its most common uses. *A different version of this video was published earlier today. This version corrects an inaccuracy in the narration pointed out by a observant viewer. If you've already seen it, watch it again for the five new words.* If I want something random in real life I ask my friend Elliot. But w...
orchestrate your simulations with geometry nodes in blender
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.7 месяцев назад
This video teaches a method for sequencing geometry node simulations with the index switch in blender. The scene used is available for free on my gumroad so do go get it (but you better watch the video too because I'm going to feel really sad if you don't). This technique is a very neat way to organize complicated simulations. It allows you to design them in stages with unique position evaluati...

use lights with geometry nodes in blender
Просмотров 14 тыс.10 месяцев назад
This video shows you a neat little way to connect geometry nodes to lights, or indeed anything that you attach a driver to. It's also episode two of "The Alien Test" series where I break down how I animated an entire scene with the simulation zone. But whether you're a devotee of the button pushing alien or someone desperate to solve their geometry node with lights needs, you'll be totally sati...
simulating all the animation in a scene with geometry nodes in blender
Просмотров 5 тыс.10 месяцев назад
This video shows you how to animate an object with the simulation zone in blender 4.1. Create a rule based movement system that repeats within randomized but controlled criteria. It is the first part of a series where I create a scene where everything is animated with the simulation zone. We got float curves, we got map range nodes, we align euler to a vector and we got so much noodle animation...

Great tutorial! Part 2?
ya funny daddy i like you
This was amazing! Please keep producing more!
Thank you! I’m working on a sequel to this video that should be out before the spring
Thanks for the tutorial! I am having a few issues. I have looked over the nodes a few times and everything looks correct, but each drawn curve animates one at a time, not like your examples. What could be the issue?
It sounds like you’ve got a problem with your Speed attribute. I’d try removing its random value and using a fixed one. The strokes should all move at the same time then. The blender file is available on my patreon (FREE). It might be worth taking a look at it and seeing what’s different to yours. There’s a link in the description
There's a lot more going on here than doing something with lights and geometry nodes. I am not even sure you used Geometry nodes to do something with the light. I would really like a tutorial on how to use Geometry nodes to DISTRIBUTE lights in a scene, if possible
This video shows you how to control the intensity of a light (or any property that can be driven of any object) with Geometry Nodes and an intermediary object. Using geometry nodes to do something to the light is very much what the video is about. The only other thing it’s about is 8 minutes. You can distribute lights as instanced objects with geometry nodes by adding them with either an object info or collection info node. But, as of the time of this comment, you can’t control any of the properties of these instanced lights with geometry nodes
You are the Kurzgesagt of Geometry Nodes.
Ha. That’s high praise. Thank you
I have to watch this again 🤯😳
It would be useful to make a disclaimer how this gets now simpler in Blender 4.3 where you can use custom gizmos
Perfection packed in an almost 14 minute video. Great narration and visual explanation!
Thank you!
Impressive teaching style, grasping the concept of fields has always been difficult for me, possibly due to the fact that nodes are plugged in which makes me think they supply an actual value, but the penny finally dropped when you referred to them as instructions. Thank you and I hope you create more of these fundamental tutorials.
Thank you. A sequel to this video is in the works…
This is very well broken down! HUGE thanks for making this guide!!!!
Instead og geometry nodes, Sverchok can directly utilize lights inside node editor, i watch erindale video on it where he made bar lamp with it.
instead of single vertex, you can directly use Empty. I learn it from Simmon thomes. Here is the process- Select Empty and add geometry nodes to it. inside geo nodes, add instance to point node. it will add point at the empty position. now you can use it instead of single vertex.
Amazing video
poetry
It rhymes. Thank you
I absolutely love your style of explanation, especially the sound of your voice and the dry humor it carries so effortlessly. I can easily imagine you narrating a British novel - OMG! You could be to Terry Pratchett what Stephen Fry is to JK Rowling - You would be a perfect fit narrating all of the discworld novels! 😊 Do it!
Thank you. I’m starting to get into a little voice over work and would love to do something like Terry Pratchett!
awesome!
yeeez, just found your channel. Amazing!
Thank you and welcome!
This video saved my life.
This is like a documentary to explore the world of geometry nodes in blender great job man thanks
I can't skip any step from this tutorial it's amazing thanks
The fun is in all the little details. Thank you
The best tutorial I have seen ever! I'm going to use it as a graphics reference
Woah. Thank you!
Outstanding. Thank you!
your humor is amazing
1 minute of video and i am already subscribing to your channel
im so happy to see such brilliant attitude. u are a gift for the people who perceive this much ability and perfection.
Thank you
Really top quality tutorial. Hope this helps make it financially feasible to make more.
Thank you! Many more on the horizon
We are baked
That is beautiful. Thank you, Harry.
As expected, good stuff. The bounding box tip is gold, realising instances with bounding box prevents intersection and keeps realised geo memory low
How do you make it go backwards to "build" the image, though? So far mine just deconstructs it.
This is fantastic. Question though. Is there a way for this set up be able to have a custom shaped explosion? Like fireworks in the shape of letters or stars?
Ur video is like watching netflix
Thank you Harry, we all owe you a burrito for this. I'm sending you a “California Burrito” from San Diego, Ca.
I have been working with Blender Geometry nodes for some years, and only now I can say that I understand them, thanks.
this is such a beautiful and entertaining tutorial, awesome work!
You lost me at, "Hello"
Why does applying the geom nodes modifier not work? I'd like my GP object to be converted to a curve (and that's it), but I get an error ("evaluated geometry from modifier does not contain grease pencil geometry").
8:58 I was so entranced by the video that I completely forgot we we're talking about Blender and the next thing I saw was just my ceiling
it's insane how high quality these videos are proportional to the attention they get
The quality of these videos is INSANE! I want a tutorial on how you make these tutorials! This level of detail and the animations are incredible! the dad jokes arent to bad either. Thank you so much for these videos these are my favorite thing on youtube! you are amazing! and thanks for making the videos so accessable those of us who are blenderly challanged are very appreciative of the thought!
The way you explain complicated stuff about blender is awesome. I truly enjoy the whole vibe around it as well. Clean, clear voice, no useless extra stuff. Great great work, truly!
You are the best 😍
Thank you, great video. how long does these videos take to make?
Thank you. I started work on this video in 1987 (This was roughly 10 days work. I decided to make it more accessible about halfway through the edit so this meant I had to redo some of the node animation. The longest part is always the writing, which I do twice - at the very start of the process before I animate anything and then a rewrite with the finished edit)
@@harryblends 1987 hhh, thats about 40 years --- very good job.
Maybe it would be possible to use it for a "normal" text too
Please explain in visual (viewer node) 👌🏻
Subscribed, Harry! You found the holy grail of Blender tutorials by using blender itself as the presentation medium - amazing! Also, this totally feels as being the Hitchhiker Guide to Blender :) (totally reminds me of the narration and animation style of the 2005 movie) Thanks, a lot - I am loving it!
hi, do not know why, but the Curve Tangent Node at 5:34 makes my drawing a mess (like nest..)...please help
It’ll be messy until you’ve added more nodes. There’s a link to the blender file in the description if you want to jump to the end. It’s on my patreon but free
@harryblends thank you, ok so lets continue (will try it on my own and go to your patreon after i fail😉)
Amazing, useful and beautiful video
Good video!
