Can water hyacinth save a lake?
Tushar Chandra is raising funds to create a water hyacinth harvesting system at Hennagara Lake. This plant, known as the "terror of Bengal", is an invasive species that is typically very difficult to deal with. At the same time however the plant also absorbs heavy metals, pollutants and excess nutrients from water, effectively cleaning the lake it infests. If it is harvested properly Tushar says it can create many useful products while also improving the water quality in the lake.
You can reach out to Tushar at contact@vrikshamitra.org or 8174978368 / 9663161459 and discuss how you'd like to be involved. Or you can go visit the lake yourself.

India’s first AC railway station SMVT: what went wrong?
Просмотров 1,2 млн5 месяцев назад
Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) is India's first centrally air conditioned railway station, designed to look like an airport. South Western Railways (SWR) spent 6 years and over 300 crores to build SMVT, so its disappointing to see how many issues there are with its design. At a first glance, the building looks like an airport, but as you get closer and start using the space you realize that...

Seegehalli Lake Review: Public Spaces Should Be Open All Day
Просмотров 6 тыс.6 месяцев назад
The Seegehalli Lake has a lot going for it and its a really nice space to spend time in during the afternoons. Unfortunately, officially it is supposed to be locked up between 9am and 5pm. Of course, the locals have no time for rules like this so they've created openings where it makes sense - but it would be really nice to start seeing design decisions like this being taken by the BBMP themsel...

What should Bengaluru build on the NGEF land? A Skydeck, museum, or public park?
Просмотров 35 тыс.6 месяцев назад
There's 120 acres of open land right in the heart of the city and the government is looking to convert this into a public space. There are two competing visions for what to do here: 1. To make it a large green space with a few public buildings like museums & libraries 2. Build a giant 250m tall tower with hotels, restaurants, and more Let's talk about which one to build and why. The Secret Life of Bengaluru's Lakes
Sometimes I feel like do we really deserve modern amenities because no matter how nicely station or a terminal is made we the Indian publicity it up by spitting pan all over the place and secondly no one gives 2 cents about maintaining cleanliness ...so even though infrastructure wise we are somewhat moving ahead ...I think it will take another 50 years for the Indian citizens to change our mindsets 😢
The Contractors and Politicians have made money for next 5 generations. They shamed the name of legend SMV.
Not sure about over engineering, seems like it's built on high school project.
Poorly designed is absolutely right, i have been to airports and stations which are ill equipped with sensible features and add to the inconvenience.
India lacks skills. Design skills are among the worst in the world. Civil engineering, structural engineering seems very cheap to achieve a degree! But eventually those who do pass have no commonsense and logical thinking to implement what ever they learnt in schools or exposure to other resources. I know a famous engineer in Coimbatore Tamilnadu, who is the best example of what I state. Still he is among the reputed engineers!! Poor skills and greed for quick money compromises good quality from human skills. Very bad examples for next generations. This is why the luckier ones migrate even to the so-called lesser developed nations than India. A proud hungry and angry Indian patriot. Jai Hind 🙏🇮🇳
What you want to say about paan stains all over the walls?? We Indians are close to animals and we don’t deserve good facilities. Unfortunately the poor people are the ones who creates the most filth.
please bring mad max raga he and his family will built "Rajeev Gandhi Railstations across ur country, pakistan and east pakistan"
Forget about all the flaws mentioned here .. At least a bin to spit.... 😂.. Our Pan artists have made Madhubani paintings on those marble canvas...
So Accenture/TCS is building railway stations now?
BRO Who are you!!!!!! Amazing content !
This is how India gonna compete with China!!
You gave free consultation without fees😂. Good analysis. This happens when people get contract by reference
Smith Paul Hernandez Christopher Perez Susan
The place is terribly maintained
Bro...in Mumbai British made Bombay central and VT (Now CST) Which is really convenient to use...Indian made LTT and it is a disaster
Indians do not seem to be ready for anything 😮. They shoyld employ chinese designers and engineers. Dont shout at me. Just buy a ticket to China. You may not even come back
please post more videos like this one, love them
And it is named after MVishesharayya, India's ace engineer ? Shame on the modern engineers.
Why people in india has this habbit of sitting on the ground or sleeping on the floor.
Hope this video should reach to whom this video should reach
Whoever was the PM and Railway minister responsible should resign
Efficiency and minimalistic design is the future, people will start packing smarter and lighter, and general improvement will take place, the floor looks super easy to clean vs any other railway station, so at least hygiene and decorum will be first.
This was designed by RR Architects and this was their " prestigious project". Either their submission was different or the govt engineers screwed up or all involved were just bad.
I was born in Bangalore, but live in the UAE. I initially plan to become an engineer (I'm 13 right now, so maybe someday), but your videos seem to sway me to find a way to make India's infrastructure better than any other in the world. Sir, if I end up as a civil engineer or architect, consider it to be your content that is my inspiration. I just wish to see a day when Indian ideals and mental processing actually combined with useful architecture that isn't a corruption front.
That’s so nice to hear JV! Good luck, enjoy school, and see you soon :)
@@bengawalk Thank you do much sir!
Poor jobs
Building giant-ass stations with no adequate seating, few escaltors/lifts, and poor access to the toilets. That's typical India for you
2:39 look at the man at right side ewww taking pan masala and ready spit in the station
Harris Betty Davis Larry Allen Elizabeth
0:18 the dog was taking sun bath😂
After spending enormous sums of money, consumers really need to comprehend the purpose of an architect and why using their design knowledge is so important. An architect designs a place based on the needs and intended use of the area. not merely a glass structure with civil engineering. Even if it's a little place or they believe they can handle it themselves, everyone should contact an architect for their knowledge.
There are very less good engineers in India. Only because of pressure from politicians these poor engineers have no chance but just to submit the project on time without proper planning. India is doomed to fail. Citizens rise up.
Excellent analysis. Well presented. Will the Babus in the govt listen, care and act ? Crores spent, much delayed and not half as useful. Typical
Excellent video. All the youtubers who were paid to praise this project in every possible way must learn something from this video. Thanks a lot for covering so many things
This is the worst railway station in India and it is NOT SENIOR FRIENDLY. This is the worst engineering feat in Bangalore and passengers are being forced to use this railway station just because it is the White Elephant of the South Western Railway
instead of criticizing, why don't you start a campaign to educate people as to how to utilize best of there time not lying on the floor. Here we need to come out of the mindset in which we always have the tendency to find loopholes.
Trees ..just so many trees and a beautiful walkway between them❤
Nicely deliberate, Sham to desiners& government planners backed by bastered BJP
Modi and its joker ministers 🃏
This is poorly designed. I don’t get how engineers are the problem. I am not an engineer but from what I know they have to follow the design.
Another issue is they dont have a metro connection. Its a new stuff should have thought about linked metro to it
why is there hindi written on name board?
2:15 it’s forbidden to put up benches in metro. No country does that. all platforms are designed with fluid dynamics, as crowd flow roughly behaves same as that of fluid.
LETS TALK ABOUT OPEN AND NEAR ABSOLUTE CORRUPTION AND LACK OF COMMUNITY SPIRIT THAT HAS CORRESPONDED WITH BANGALORE BECOMING BENGALURU...AND THEN COLLECTIVELY DO WHAT IS NEEDED TO EXPOSE THE MAIN PEOPLE IN POWER ENABLING THIS.
Accessibility to platforms is challenging one and should be made easily accessible from the gate...
The honking is never ending...not a violin music 😂 in reality.
Superb Video👍
Simply amazing. Every cities in India can learn from it and implement on their cities level.
Thank you for this informative video. Do you know if the main architect was from Gujarat?!
More money spent = more pocket money so keep building.. Someone explain to the ruling class that they can make more money spending on big public transport projects too.
