An edition of the BBC2 pop music bla, from..1995, I suppose: Sannie Whigfield Carlson refuses to do the Saturday Night dance, Zoe Ball chats to Dave Stewart about his doings, Ian Levine comes over all Optimystik, and 2 Unlimited discuss their latest waxing; well, 1 of the 2 does, Delboy had the flu or somesuch it seems. Oh ,and M People appear to have won something. Gosh.

27th December 1983: Mike Read and Sarah Greene ending an edition of some mouse related programme on BBC1, then it's over to ITV for Martyn Lewis with the news, and a football results Christmas pudding, leading up to 'The Wind in the Willows'. Adverts : K-Tel Doublesider computer game cassettes, Bucks Fizz Greatest Hits. "Sarah Greene is now appearing in 'Dick Whittington' at the Richmond Theatre."

The end of an episode of the ITV current affairs programme 'TV Eye'. This edition, 'Clouds of War' (broadcast 22/3/84) was about chemical weapons. It's the great theme music which has prompted me to upload this, rather than any particular fascination with chemical warfare suits. The TV Eye title card at the end is nice too,

He's voice is good and l like he's hair
It’s certainly no disrespect meant to Bryn on my part, since I always thought he was a very capable bass player, but I’m stunned that Dave said what he said about “(we’ve never) really had a good bass player as such” (before Bryn), when they’ve had top shelf players like Paul Gray and Algy Ward, not to mention the fact that Captain was no slouch on 4 strings. Every bass player they’ve had has been well above average, and that also includes Patricia and Stu. I’m really not sure what Dave was thinking when he said that.

I know, Paul Gray, Algy Ward...
Paul Gray is probably the all time greatest bass player to ever emerge from punk/pub rock/metal/post punk/alternative/you name it… end of story. No one can touch him. The undisputed king of the Rickenbacker. That’s just Paul. Then you have the late, great Algy Ward, who played pure thunder with those steel plectrums. Captain was no slouch on bass either, even if it wasn’t his preferred instrument. Those were just the ones who came before Bryn. Later on there was Patricia and Stu - both great bassists, and now Paul is back, full circle.
Sometimes you question reality; sometimes you just go with it and put streaming sheers on your cymbals.
Saw them open for The Misfits, changed my life...
Brings back memories !
