Cruisers have a lower seat height than many other bikes, which can make them easier to handle at low speeds and when stopped. You were reaching a lot to touch the ground with the KTM Duke.

Always fun to ride other bikes. Sometimes you think you want something then find out you really want something else. Get on as many bikes as you can.

I had an Indian Scout Bobber for three years. Absolutely loved it. Funny enough, I switched over to Ducati. (Watched your other video too). I’d suggest trying the Rebel 1100. My wife rides the 1100 and it’s her first motorcycle. The three riding modes gives you time to get comfortable with the additional power.

I don't know if you can find any, but if there are big test ride events in your area. Go and try as many bikes as you can. A few weeks ago in my country CFMoto opened another big official reseller. To go along with that most of their bikes were available to freely test ride. I rode every bike at least twice. It was just around the block but it was enough for me to get a feel for different types of bikes and their riding positions. Up until that point I was familiar with the feeling of a sports bike (Suzuki GSXR600) and street bikes/scramblers. At the event, new to me were trying scooters, adventure bikes, and cruisers. Cruisers were the most foreign to me. The first time I got moving on one, when I went to put my foot on the pegs, I almost scraped my boots on the ground. Haha. I was not used to how forward my feet had to go. Oh but if I could, I'd love a cruiser as another bike.

My MSF course was really fast paced and it scared me. I ended up bailing out before the end of the first day. I wasn’t the only one, we started with ten, I was the fifth person to drop out. Everyone who was left in the course were already experienced riders. It feels like everyone who takes these courses and does well already has riding experience. Anyone have recommendations for an ACTUAL beginner? Not just a “beginner”?

Problem is if your a short rider, their bikes are too high that its almost impossible to walk or power walk the motorcycle. It was too bad that the coach discouraged me to continue. They will reset mine next week. Still I dont know what will be the difference if they will make me use the same bike.

Ride a Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. A classic look and just so smooth to ride. The bobber is too harsh on your butt. Triumph motorcycles are so good.

Get the Indian... I bought my first bike, a '24 Scout Rogue and I love it.

She did great and is so brave. I have been trying to teach my wife on a lowered kawasaki z125 pro and it has been difficult for her.

The way you kept riding too close to the traffic lanes lines got me really anxious… it’s safer to drive in the center of your lane, if you go too close to the lines you could get hit by another vehicle trying to overtake.

Love my 500 to death…been riding since April of this year but i feel as tho im already ready for the 1100 myself..all the power is there and its pretty much the same platform just a few more bells and whistles. scout 60 bob was my second choice but i think its the 1100 for me. didnt get to test drive but i sat on it to get a feel and it was a dream.

Biggest mistake for a first time rider. Too much bike for the, experience level. Sales people need to,stress that to all newbies.

I think the Indian would be more powerful, which you would probably enjoy if you've gotten used to the Rebel.

Unless you're hard over for a Harley or Indian, I'd suggest looking at a Triumph Street Twin 900. I had a 2018, and my daughter loved riding that bike around the neighborhood (she was a newly licensed rider). It wasn't intimidating for her at all, good seat height, reach to the handlebars, foot control positions, etc. I had the V&H slip-ons, cat-delete, and Booster Plug. It had a good sound, and was even entertaining for me to ride (been riding for 40+ years). My 2018 had fuel-injection, ABS, traction control, slipper clutch, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. In 2020 after refreshing my riding skills, hadn’t ridden for 20 years, on a Honda shadow phantom 750, I was ready to upgrade. I went used and found a 2014 harley street bob that was still stock and only 1,400 miles on it. Got it and made it mine, the right size and weight, great power and handling. Good luck in your search.

It looks like you are gripping the handlebars very tightly and very close to the inner part and from the videos I have seen on how to prevent death wobbles or tank slappers you should grip it more loosely. Just look up how to prevent death wobbles or tank slappers on RUclips and you will see what I mean, could be useful to know.

Heyo, I recently upgraded from my Rebel 500 to an Indian Scout Twenty and I definitely think it’s worth the upgrade. You’ll get a lot more power out of it to really pick and go when you need to while still feeling relatively light like the Rebel. It also has a better build quality feel to it since it’s less plastic and more metal than the Rebels. Honestly the only thing I’d consider getting changed is the stock seat and shocks as neither are very good for dealing with bumpier roads as you’ll feel all of it lol.

I want to like Indian, because Harley went woke, but their bikes are ugly compared to Harley. They may or may not be better built than Harley, but they sure as shit aren't as esthetically appealing.

Why not a Rebel 1100

I bought my first bike last year, its an 2023 Indian Scout Bobber and i think it is perfect for me. The clutch is very gently, the torque is very good to handle and the low position on the bike is just perfect to put both feet solid on the ground. I personally changed a few things, get a Mini Ape Bar and Upsidedown Mirrors and changed the seat to the Indian Comfort Seat, which made a huge different.

I was looking at the Triumph Speed 400 and the KTM Duke 390, I ended up with the 390. I'm excited to ride. I just passed my MSF course, your video helped a lot.
