This is a greener take on Ardbeg 10. Definitely grassy and mossy. I think less smoked meat/BBQ vibes, more green and flowery character. Totally agree it's green and like-a-Spring-time-whisky. I like it more than 10 and more than 5.

You would like Teeling Irish Whiskey.

Not being a cow, I'm not 100% sure what grass tastes like, unless you're referring to the legendary medicinal grass that has powerful smoky resinous notes, especially when ignited. Chocolate and grass would be very appropriate in that context.

I just found 2 of these buried in a local rural store. Bought just 1 and after tasting it I’m definitely going back for the other one. Imagine that it has likely been sitting on the shelf 3 years there people in that area simply aren’t informed whisky consumers!

Hey, that was a great review! I've just opened a bottle, and i was quite impressed with it. The nose is so fruity and vibrant, and at 59.6%, as it's currently bottled, i would have expected a lot more ethanol to the nose, but no.. just fruity and a bit floral. Now, the taste note was very unexpected. Usually, you can deduce the notes just by smelling the whisky, but not here - the taste is on the opposite spectrum: leathery, old book, and it lingers on forever. There is a hint of sweetness right at the beginning, but that fades quickly, and what i'm left with is a woody, even ashy aftertaste, which reminds me of my old smoking days (1 year tobacco free). The body is, again, a very pleasant surprise, rich and oily, and it evaporated almost instantly in the mouth, leaving just the woody taste explosion. I've also tried it with a splash of water, and the peaty notes are more easily apparent, but they also become fruitier. Overall, it's a very interesting experience. The contrast between the nose and the taste is the most prominent feature i've spotted. It's like smelling a nice speyside like Aberlour and tasting a dark, rich Ardbeg minus the peat. This is definitely a connessieur's dram, not a casual drink.

Terrific thoughts! Huge Ardbeg fan. I don't buy all of the special releases as there are so many released and the prices are a bit insane but I do get some! Lagavulin is my favorite distillery but Ardbeg comes in as a close second. I adore peated scotch! Cheers!

Onishiki whisky of japan is beter and 3 times cheper, onishiki is not famus whisky, but is better then yamazaky, i tast first onishiki, and lather yamazaki, and is felt like yamazaki is a deseption if competed to Onishiki whysky, onishiki worth every penny

I’m just sampling my first Machir Bay Cask Strength. Water is a must to fully appreciate the dram. I always get a farmy note - silage and wet horse, on the nose with the Kilchoman range. Interestingly detected my first liniment and sarsaparilla note with this expression. Great wee dram. I’m keen to see how the Machir Bay stands up against the new release 57% Batch Strength. I think that smell is same as ballantines finest but taste is something new to me..that spicy taste at the beggining I never tasted before and finish is somehow light and the thing I like about this 7 is that it doesn't have so much alcoholic taste like original finest.

I love this whiskey. Flowry honey, Baking spices, and some malt. I also get a hint of orange. I am amazed that this is a peted whiskey because you can barely tell that it's there. And it is not the harsh peak type it is more flowery. I love the scotch and and put off by snobs that consider this a beginner whiskey. I will always have a bottle.
