    Excellent video! (*you might want to check out 'green tripe' vs storebought cleaned/bleached tripe) Your video gave me hope. I have two large dogs, one is very ill, so I switched her to total raw. It has made a difference! She is happier again, runs, swims and plays. I wish I had done this with all my dogs. We only have one butcher within 3 hour drive. He will not touch poultry and his prices are the same or higher than the grocery stores. Strange. Luckily we have a big Walmart and a small family grocery that has excellent meats for a price less than Kroger - Yay. Again great video and thank you for doing that map. Wow!

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 5 дней назад

      I typically shop for the entire month and freeze everything. I pull 2 days worth of food out of the freezer and keep it on the top shelf in the fridge because it keeps everything frosted, but not frozen solid, so it makes it easy to prep every day. I prep her food daily from that. I typically don't meal prep and like to make everything fresh, but meal prepping would be a great option if it saves you time.

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 5 дней назад

      What kind of salt are you consuming? Do you have any pre-existing conditions? MAST cell? Histamine intolerance? Leaky gut? Impurities in the salt could cause this if you are compromised. You may need a really clean salt or salt that has been heat treated if you think that this is the case. Typical heat treating is over 1,800 degrees F and removes all impurities, leaving only sodium. Also, is there a reason you are consuming so much salt? Have you experimented to see how you feel if you cut back on the amount of salt you consume? As for the sleep disturbances, what specifically is going on, and what does a typical day of eating look like for you?

    • @pruthvikumarreddy

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 4 дня назад

      @@pruthvikumarreddy Do you have a way to heat treat your salt to remove impurities? If you feel better without it you may try experimenting with scaling way back on the amount you use. Some people don't do well with salt on carnivore, regardless of the notion that you need to consume a lot of it. Did you, or do you have any pre-existing conditions? It sounds like you might be having a hard time digesting the protein, which could be a number of issues ranging from elevated stomach ph (could be caused by h-pylori), in which case hydrochloric acid or bile salts might help. In the case of h-pylori, mastic gum might do the trick. A form of gut dysbiosis may also be hindering absorption. It'd be hard to nail down without knowing all the specifics of where you are coming from and what exactly you are going through.

    Butcher's in my northern state are no where near that cheap. Our closest one imports all her meat from big Ag, and sells it as "local", charging $3.99/lb for chicken. No one sells turkey necks, or ground up leftovers in my state. Does your local butcher ship?

      A simple formula that will get you in the ballpark: Less Active dog: Dog's weight x 2% = Total weight of food More Active dog: Dog's weight x 3% = Total weight of food Example: 50lb dog x. 0.02 = 1lb (16oz) Example: 50lb dog x 0.03 = 1.5lb (24oz) That'll get you really close to where you need to be and you can adjust weight, meal timing, and meal frequency based on how your dog responds. 👍

    Eating raw off of fresh kill is one thing. But is there any concern at all with bacteria due to handling and shelving, etc?

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 13 дней назад

      With anything raw there is always concern of bacteria and food-borne illness, so you really have to weight the risks and know your source. I trust my sources and am comfortable feeding raw from them because I'd be comfortable eating the food raw myself. Any time I buy meat from big-box retailers I really screen the meat to make sure it is safe, and I'll make a decision based off that. Frozen is typically safer than fresh when it comes to those stores. Sometimes I see chicken or certain cuts of meat that are on sale, which is usually due to the butcher either cutting too much or the meat nearing the sell-by date. If the reason for the sale is the latter, I'll typically cook that food just to be on the safe side. If you can find a good source you can trust, that will always be the best option, but it will ultimately be your call on whether or not you want to feed raw or cook the food. It is very much a personal choice.

    How many times a day do you feed uoir dogs? I remember when i was a little girl growing up, we fed our dogs once a day. In the last i dont know 20 years maybe, it changed to twice a day. What do you recommend

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 13 дней назад

      Great question! I feed my dog once a day, but it's really up to the dog. Some larger breeds may need to eat more often, especially if they are active because allowing them to go hungry for extended periods of time can cause serious gastro problems and lead to bloat (gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV)), which can be life-threatening. If your dog is able to consume an ample amount of food in a single sitting, does fine until the next meal, and maintains a healthy body mass, you should be good to go. If your dog struggles to eat enough food, loses weight, begs, vomits bile, or seems to be in distress, you might want to split the food up into 2 meals.

      Isn't it crazy how the most nutrient-dense parts of the animal are so cheap? It's largely because the average person is grossed out by that kind of stuff so it isn't really sought after but as more people catch on I've seen the price of some of these things increase. It's a double-edged sword because we all want cheap meat, but at the same time I like to think people are also getting healthier!

    Hi thank you for the videos! My husband went Carnivore over 1 month ago and are doing so well and I I am transitioning my 55 lb dog and struggling a bit with a few things. I bought the 10lb bag of chicken leg quarters and cooked them, deboned them and made bone broth with it. My question with that is it only gave me 3 1/2 pounds of meat and a ton of broth (which i put the skin and all in) she will drink the broth but how much should I give her and would it be more cost effective for the meat to buy boneless skinless chicken since it only made 3 1/2 pounds? My dog will probably never eat bones because she doesn't like raw chicken and doesnt chew bones well. Also, when I made the bone broth the bones and very soft so could I make up for the loss of feeding her the raw bones by pureed bones? Where it is completely mush and no splintered bones ect.? I am adding hamburger which she likes raw and gizzards if I can find them. I also wish we had cheaper meat here! Hamburger here at walmart is almost 5.00 a pound and local butchers here are 6.00 a pound. Most of the items you mentioned except chicken and hamburger our local walmart and meat processors don't have them. Thanks so much for your help 😊

One thing to look for is that some of the cheaper chicken will actually be a certain percentage of weight from water. This information is typically found near the bottom of the bag in fine print. It shouldn't have been that much water, but the water that was in there would have certainly rendered down as broth. Keep in mind that the broth that renders out of the meat is going to be full of nutrients and can still play a vital role in nourishing your animal, though it won't compare to the actual meat. You could try buying boneless & skinless chicken to see how it compares once it's cooked down, just keep in mind it is going to be very lean, especially without the skin, and the nutrition will be inferior compared to a leg quarter. In that case, I'd be sure to add some other meats and/or small amounts or muscular and secreting organs. I find that feeding the mushed bones is okay occasionally but I don't like to rely on it. When the bones have cooked that long to the point that they are mush, there's really not much left in them in terms of nutrition because everything has been rendered out of the bones and is now in the broth. My dog tends to be less enthusiastic about her food when I include it, which tells me there isn't much in there that she wants or needs. It's also rare that she seeks out "spent" chicken bones when I toss them into the garden. Congrats to you and your husband for completing 1 month, I'm very happy to hear you are both doing well!

    Just wondering if you dont eat any vegetables or fruits then? Those are necessary for a well-rounded diet from what i have studied. I love them so I can't live without them.

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 23 дня назад

      I don't consume any vegetables or fruits as they are not necessary and typically don't make me feel optimal. I have some fruit trees on my property and might have an apple or a few cherries or blackberries when they are in season, but that's about it, so meat makes up at least 99%-100% of my nutrition year-round. Here are some videos I just did illustrating that you can get everything you need from animal products: ruclips.net/video/O7dBeFWhfjQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Ax3_rJIWst0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/jyuZ3U0JUuw/видео.html I'm a huge advocate for being honest with ourselves and doing what works best for us as individuals. Thank you for this series! So do you think I need to be in a calorie surplus to gain muscle? Or can I just eat intuitively and work out consistently? I’m at a low body fat and weight

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 23 дня назад

      There will be a lot of factors to consider, such as how experienced you are with working out, genetics, your health background, age, etc., but generally speaking if you want to gain weight and gain muscle, you need to eat more food. Specifically, more of the right foods. If I was trying to gain weight and gain muscle on carnivore, which I have done a few times, I would focus on fatty red meat as my primary source of nutrition, eating as often as necessary to ward off hunger. As soon as I started to feel hungry I would eat. If you tolerate dairy, raw dairy/milk, cheese, and butter, can be good tools for gaining weight and size. Bone marrow and pastured eggs would be good options to include as well. In simple terms, keeping fat intake high while still meeting your protein goals should be enough to do the trick, and adding in some occasional organs to keep the nutrition high would also help. If your training is on point you should be naturally getting hungry more frequently, which will lead to consuming more food, which will lead to muscle growth.

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 23 дня назад

      I find that I can eat more in one sitting than I could when I was eating other foods (starches/carbs, veggies, etc.) because meat doesn't make me feel physically full and bloated like those other foods did. I just feel satisfied and satiated. It's important to do what works best for you. If you don't feel like you are eating enough, I wouldn't be surprised if your body doesn't adjust in a similar fashion, given enough time.

      Thank you for your kind reply. Actually i feel to be in a strange situation. I have difficulties to eat meat, i am buying meat to grind and i make hamburgers with 70% fat in calories and about 30% protein but i really struggle to eat 700grams of this split in two meals a day, yesterday for example i wasn't hungry all day so it was very difficult to eat something for me. In the mean time i am losing weight but i do not want to because i am quite lean... I do not know how to behave, it seem to me that my body refuses meat that it is not very high quality.... I also feel a kind of nausea like when eating fat meat

    • @apexpackandtribe
      @apexpackandtribe 21 день назад

      @@fiorenzo6301 How long have you been carnivore? What is your reason for starting? Is that all you are consuming is 700g of ground per day with nothing else? If you tolerate eggs, cheese, raw dairy, and butter, you might consider experimenting with those. Those foods are nutrient/calorie dense and would bump up the nutrition you are getting while not taking up too much additional room in your stomach. This could help you gain/maintain your weight. I also find that those fats are well-tolerated and I can eat more of them without getting that nauseated feeling. One quick note is that if you are eating all the liquid fat from your ground beef, that could be the reason for your nausea. Solid fat (fat chunks from meat, fatty cuts, fat trimmings, beef suet, etc.) tend to be easier on the gut than liquid fats and most people can consume more without feeling nauseated. I also find that salting my food usually entices me to eat more.

      Is there a specific reason you are trying OMAD? I'm a huge fan of intuitive eating, which means eating when hungry and stopping when full. Forcing yourself into specific and unnatural eating windows could mean cramming food, under or over consuming which is not sustainable long term and may do more harm that good. For some people, eating one meal a day may not be optimal, so finding what works best for you as an individual would be the way to go.

    One toxic exposure people may want to consider is their mattress. Many of them are loaded with chemicals. We spend many hours on a mattress, so going to a chemical free mattress would make a big impact. Applies to dog beds also.

      Such a great point! Mattresses & bedding are often missed but you're right, we spend a ton of our time on them, and even more importantly the time spent is some of the most critical for our health as well. Natural fabrics and stuffings will always be the best route.
