This really made me want to hear all of the HL sounds in full 44100hz bitrate, but making this possible with current upscale tech without is sounding "spongy" and otherwise scummy is probably not possible. I want to hear them as if they were recorded with a modern array of pro mics in a proper recording room. I do not care that it might sound worse, I just need to know what it'd be like.

I really wish Ken Bailey would show us how he made those sound effects.

I watched through Aeon Flux properly today after not seeing it since I was a kid, never realised just how much of Half-Life and Half-Life 2 were inspired by that series until now. They even use a lot of the same sound effects especially for weapons.

This was actually quite interesting. One of the reasons I like the older hand drawn Animes so much more is that they where so much... Darker. Old movies 2. Darkness leaves room for interpretation in you subconscious mind and the same applies for stillness in videogames.

I remember a game dev on Twitter talking about how even indie games with lo-fi graphics often use realistic sound effects for things like footsteps, and they wondered about a game like Skyrim using beep boops for horse hooves. Also, anyone who says analyzing a joke kills it is, almost by definition, not a funny person because they refuse to learn what a joke is.

Did HL reuse any sounds or were they all original? I just noticed a recycled sound yesterday playing The Witcher 1, and it takes away from the immersion. As a teleport vortex/gate closes, the sound effect that plays is the sound of a tesla coil from Command and Conquer Red Alert.
