The Japanese Yugioh score is so iconic and memorable, I still listen to it to this day. It is rich in musical diversity and filled with different instruments and styles. In my opinion, it is one of the best scores made for screen works, and this also applies to select tracks from GX and 5D's. It might have only needed a better director for a better track placement.
I never really got into yugioh as a kid, but this video made me go back and listen to some of the music again, and you're right, it's sometimes campy and a little ridiculous sure but well crafted and intentional. This is why we watch your videos. (Also gotta keep my 100% streak up 😂).
This is the greatest video I’ve ever seen discussing why the ost (specifically the Japanese ost) is amazing! Bless you for articulating the science behind why I feel the way I do about my fav series! 🎉🎉🎉 king!!!
this is the best channel i've found in a long time, hope you can make videos more often (but i understand that they must take a fair bit of time to make)
End of Evangelion also had two non-diegetic songs with vocals made specifically for it, but other than that i really cant think of any tv shows/movies that did music like that. Though obviously games have done this kind of thing for a while (for example Sonic Adventure 2)
Honestly OG yugioh still has my favorite theme song in all of media. Although I'll admit personally unlike most of the other comments here, I actually prefer the Japanese soundtrack overall. Can't wait for the next video i knew I was gonna enjoy this one!
Considering the background music, the BGM “Sad Duel” is a strong piece that captures the high pressure and intense emotions that Judai (Jaden) exudes in his descent to becoming the Supreme King. Trying to duel not for the sake of fun but to save his friend’s lives so their souls don’t get used for the creation of Super Polymerization.
The Main theme of Yugioh i’m pretty sure is a remix of a song from the soundtrack which was sound track called ‘Your Move’ - you can tell this was the original theme song because half the samples are just sections of this song.
Enjoying the content. I would like to see a more in depth view with more examples from the show. Like the ps one video. Just a thought. In any case keep it up!
You should look at the soundtrack of Ultrakill, mostly on "The Death of God's Will", "Order" and "Divine Intervention" since you'd probably have some interesting input on it
The key music stuff is wild. Never seen anything like that before, and i'm kinda surprised? Like it's def weird but I can imagine a show pulling it off with enough of a campy over-the-top approach
you know, i didn't mention it in the vid but i actually used to own a toy duel disk (it's still at my parent's house) and i once brought it to school for show and tell in kindie 🤣
one crazy thing is that the American localization has a completely different soundtrack than the Japanese localization. the Japanese soundtrack is great but the English soundtrack slaps
Looks like I haven't posted my previous comment or you deleted it thinking it's a bot. Thank you for the new video, I want to support your work since the Fallout video, but I have no way to interact with Patreon.
i didn't delete your comment so idk what happened! but thank you for the support my friend! no need to check out the patreon if it's not for you, I'm just grateful for you watching and enjoying my videos :)
WAIT! what about Passionte Duelist? we are just ignore that masterpiece hat sounded trhought all the series but didt make it to occident due to 4kids??????????
not enough people are talking about the yu-gi-oh/sopranos dichotomy fr brother thank you for this 🙏
it's a serious topic that has been ignored for too long
20 years playing Yu-Gi-Oh, I wanted Pot of Greed. I compromised. I ran Upstart Goblin instead.
Yknow, my dad didn’t mind watching yugioh (he even took me to the movie in 04) and he loves the sopranos. Now I do too so maybe the pipeline is there

Dance every time Black Magician is summoned
yu gi oh forbidden memories has some cool soundtrack.
You got me with that diegetic joke 😂😂😂
Keep up the good work man
that's a joke special for the commonwealth 😅
Glad I didn't miss this upload. Good job dude.
glad to have you back chris!
@@SimonZinzovski always here lurking... time for a binge XD
legend 😅
Banger video like always Simon! YuGiOh has an underrated 'sound' and I like how you tackled it very succinctly but very thoroughly all the same
Thank you so much! That really means a lot coming from you 🙏
@@SimonZinzovski Absolutely, man! Have been a fan of your videos ever since the breakdowns of Fallout's music
Always happy to see yugioh analysis videos on interesting topics!
Great video. I love all the yugioh music, the dub, the sub, season 0, the video games, all of it.

100% streak?? Thank you! 🙏 the support means a lot and i always love seeing your comments 😊

that's so kind of you to say! i make them as quickly as i can without sacrificing quality, but yeah they do take a while 😅
End of Evangelion also had two non-diegetic songs with vocals made specifically for it, but other than that i really cant think of any tv shows/movies that did music like that. Though obviously games have done this kind of thing for a while (for example Sonic Adventure 2)
that's a good reference! i never finished eva because it made me too sad lmao, beautiful though
Very Good Video..! ✌️👽
another upload! your videos always slap, I get so excited when you upload a new vid - keep it up!!
thank you!! 💕

So you finally did upload a new video! 🎉❤
I did indeed! I put out my tf2 video a earlier this year too, and im working on another video that should *only* be a month or two away :)
Adhering to the poll I see

Beautiful video!
Also, what's the name of the track that plays at the beginning of part 3?
is this the one you meant?

@@SimonZinzovski That's the one, thanks!
Loved the video! I'll check out the rest of your work.
Cool vid. The original Gundam from 79 has some songs like that with lyrics about the main character fighting on and shit, pretty funny and weird
The Main theme of Yugioh i’m pretty sure is a remix of a song from the soundtrack which was sound track called ‘Your Move’ - you can tell this was the original theme song because half the samples are just sections of this song.
The 1997 'Berserk' series also does key non-diegetic music fantastically, perhaps take a look into it as well?
i actually really really love the '97 beserk series but i haven't watched it in a while, i should absolutely go back!
Enjoying the content. I would like to see a more in depth view with more examples from the show. Like the ps one video. Just a thought. In any case keep it up!

Loved this video, glad I subbed a while ago
i appreciate you sticking around 🤝
The key music stuff is wild. Never seen anything like that before, and i'm kinda surprised? Like it's def weird but I can imagine a show pulling it off with enough of a campy over-the-top approach
it's strange huh, weird ass show with weird ass beats
🔥🔥🔥
🤝🤝🤝
the joel douek score is pritty good too
IT’S TIME TO D-D-D-D-
I got you there! XD
you know, i didn't mention it in the vid but i actually used to own a toy duel disk (it's still at my parent's house) and i once brought it to school for show and tell in kindie 🤣
@@SimonZinzovski those were dope
I like the synth rock music in some of the YuGiOh video games.
one crazy thing is that the American localization has a completely different soundtrack than the Japanese localization. the Japanese soundtrack is great but the English soundtrack slaps
yeah ikr!! it's so strange to think about that happening these days, like a full audio redo just for the sake of localisation
How about metal gear series music?
Crazy cool vid. Thanks for it. Subbed.
very educational
4kids was originally a company making music for kids lol so it makes sense the music for their shows were catchy as a kid.
I would never call Yu-Gi-Oh! a kid series Vague magic punishments aside. a man got stabbed in the hand and sat on fire as soon as chapter 4
“We have Eminem at home”
Eminem at home:
Just joshin yah good video bro haha
I clicked on the video because he does sort of look like Eminem
You should cover music from the Timeplitters series.
My favorite original yugioh song is seto your not me it’s as iconic as guy who voiced him
The one time I would argue the dub was better is this. In terms of OST at least
i'm so biased but 100% i agree

That so cool So Animeanimph
Despite 4Kids censuring a lot of the show, the american soundtrack is better than the japanese, specially the openning
i agree! i actually like the way they censured the show, but i am hyper biased bc i loved it as a kid
i love you
eminem???
