Welcome to DCD Transporters RUclips Channel!
We’d like to show you some of the vans we’ve converted and some of the products we use to make the conversions.
We specialise in converting VW T4, T5, T6 and Crafter vans into luxury campers, day vans or just nicer places to be, with added functionality and improved fittings we can create cozy spaces that are practical and relaxing to take you away from your daily stresses and provide an opportunity for you to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you holiday close to home or want to travel further we can build the perfect van for you.
As a Skyline Roofs approved fitter we can fit pop top roofs to your T4,5,6 and the Ford Transit to give standing height in your van and an additional double bed if required.

In this video I just wanted to outline the parts we’ve had to replace in order to keep our T5 on the road.
A list of components will follow. Although I’m not including the exact cost as this will vary depending on where you are and the brands of components you use.

This is the van that started it all. Back in 2018 I bought this van to do a self build project. A rock and bed and some cheap eBay furniture got fitted and we went camping. Inspiring, will be looking at doing something similar 👍
While I do get the point of the snorkel and how useful it can be to protect the engine, it is bloody ugly. I think the nudge bar really suits it.
True. I’m not sure I’d do it again. But it does complete the full swamper look I think.
Couldd you tell me a bit more about replacing the seat foams? I changed the covers from t5 to 6.1 and it's not right. Does the 5.1 foam fit early t5 seats (with lumbar support). Also where did you buy them from?
The T6.1 covers are different and you’ll need the foams to make the cover snug. EBay often comes up with genuine foams cheap otherwise it’s vw. The 6.1 foam does fit on a T5 frame.

Depending on the covers you bought you should only need the back rest foam but the lower one would probably benefit from being replace due to age. The 6.1 foam does fit on a T5 frame. Most lower foams are the same with exception of the caravelle and California. These got a deeper base foam
I've had 13 drive shafts and 8 stub axles for two different 2.5's over the last 15 😂years

Love the videos. Where is the egr and the intake shut off valve?
Thanks, the egr is safely stored in the cupboard. In honesty though we’ve not noticed any difference and it was pretty clean when it was removed.

Got one of those CADAC 2 ring burners recently, so versatile, especially with the griddle and skillet additions to the standard pot holders. No more carrying around frying pans. It's the perfect two ring cooker.

I had a 2006 T5 2.5 with over 450,000 miles and ran really well!
That’s great going. These engines are commercial designed engines for vans and higher mileage. Unlike the modern variants which are a car derived engine
Do you lie on these beds diagonally if you’re 6ft? I can’t find any videos where someone is demonstrating how long they are
If you wanted this layout I’d recommend you had a LWB van. That way you’d have a bed that was over 6ft in length. They end up with approximately 1900mm of usable space. The SWB van is always going to be a compromise of bed length vs how much the units protrude into the door opening.
Gorgeous van, the design has given us alot of ideas for our T5 project.
There are some great design ideas here. Beautifully finished as well. I especially love that potti drawer as a great solution for those horrible but essential things. The only bit I'm not so sure about is having to go outside to cook. Not with British weather anyway! Lovely van though. Lots and lots to like.
@@Springer5 thanks for the kind words. Yes we live forever hopeful that the weather will be kind enough so we can cook outside!! Always a risk in the uk!! But that said I have the same set up in my van and I have a small portable cooker which I can use inside for a brew first thing without having to go outside. If the weather is that bad normally I’ll go and find somewhere else to eat and let them do the cooking and washing up! The porta potti drawer is a game changer for those 3am wake up calls so you don’t need to trek across the campsite. 😃
@dcdtransporters Yes. It's almost worth getting the urge at 3am just for the joy of using that drawer. 😀

I can any one help us I have 2007 transporter 2.5 diesel iv notice a big noise on my engine is it the top cam shaft get intouch let us no uour thoughts thanks
@@balwantmahi8298 More than likely camshaft. Unlike a conventional cam these are only bolted on one side so the pressure causes uneven and premature wear to the cam lobes, rockers and buckets on the top of the valves. All this coupled with the fact they are quite noisy engines anyway because they are gear driven, not a chain or belt - which is much quieter. Have a look at darkside developments RUclips as they had a van in which was the noisiest they have every seen/heard

Totally agree re the layout. I am coberting a transit 350. Loke you. Im going for the U shape back end whoch wi comvert when required. Into the bed. I never did get the bed at the back with a garage. Doesnt make sense. At all. 😊
This is now my favourite plan for a T6, u shape lounge. Love the buddy box because it comes out to get my bike in . Brilliant. I will be coming to speak to you guys once I find a decent van with low miles. Cheers. 🏆👍
