I have much the same thoughts about this game and with the help of hindsight, as well as some serviceable theories that help fill in the plot inconsistencies, I've come to the conclusion that the game is... fine. Not better than Breath of the Wild, but decent enough, especially if you ignore the story. I do also have to comment on your thoughts about the secret stones. It was such a dumb localized name and they're probably the worst kept secret in ancient Hyrule.

I love, Messmer, Midra, Bayle and PCR's boss fights. I like hoe Bayle's, Midra's and phase 1 Messmer and Pcr feel like duels. And I also like how in Pcr phase 2 it feels more like how Miquella would fight with a little less honor and more ferocity.

I honestly feel like I got tricked into loving trolling this guy after learning to parry him constantly to do his Evergaol at level 31 with a dagger. It took me an hour to get him, but watching him die to 8 parries in a row is peak comedy.

I just think developers should be careful announcing a game and then saying nothing for half a decade. Like Cyberpunk 2077 should NEVER have been announced as early as it was. Like, would there be anything wrong with Team Cherry saying “hey, new game” and then releasing it 6 months later? I’m just personally over the age of games being announced several years before it’s even ready to be shown, let alone be released.
