Beauties... I FINALLY got myself a Strider SMF Perf Series and I now Understand what everyone goes crazy for these.. They are Super Strong, Light enough to EDC but hefty enough to not feel cheap, they just melt into the hand, and they are USERS!! The Action is just awesome also! Smooth and solid. My only complaint is they arent that Sharp.. but that can be fixed.. Best of Luck brother!! you have an Epic Strider Collection.. If you have any SMF's you would part with, Please let me know!
Thanks man. Ya they are epic. My old new one just need the burr knocked off but this old one is a razor
It's a beefy boy. Thanks for sharing Bro ✌️
Thanks for watching. Ya I’m digging it
Really sorry to hear about your mum. Great collection man
Thank you.
Love that Demko
Ya it’s a beast. Took me forever to hunt it down a couple years ago when they were super hot.
M398 has better edge retention then m390 but is more brittle/prone to chipping during impacts. Nice vid!
Cool makes sense for knife like that. Not taking it to the construction site
Cool looking knife. I would take the pry bar off your hands if it’s still available.
Thanks. Ya shoot me your shipping info on ig and I’ll get it out when I have time.
Puy through the paces for a hard week, looked up the specs, seems pretty good ,doesn't seem to be over priced to over priced for a smaller usa manufacturer
Ya I carried it today and I’m digging it. And I thought the price was pretty reasonable
The blade length kept sneaking up on you…been carrying a Strider? 😂 Cool knife, intrigued to see if it’s a keeper.
Ya for some reason every time I whip the blade out I’m like man that’s long. Haha.
Never heard of it but unique design. Hope it gets pocket time.
Ya I carried it today. I’m digging it.
Interesting one. Gotta say I have never even heard of that brand before. Do a follow up if it sticks around 🤘🤘
Ya I’d heard the name but don’t recall ever seeing one. Ya I carried it today and dig it. I’m going to keep using it to get a good feel for it.
Super Cool blade curious to hear your thoughts after some time.
Ya I’m liking it so far. But gonna have to get a long term feel for it.
Congrats ! Bless knives look super amazing.
Thanks. Ya excited to get one.
How did the Medford carry go and did you ever get to the AD20?
@@deadvikingtrolls I’ll have to go back and see what Medford it was. And ya I tracked down an all ti ad20.
Not sure if the 31 will ever be better or even as good as the 21…. HECK WHAT DO I KNOW…with that being said it’s still a heck of a knife!
Ya I’m with ya on that. I’m going to see how good one will break in though
Agree 100% - Praetorian is the knife that comes to mind on Medford.
Ya I don’t like it but I get his reasoning for just to many of them out there sitting on shelves
I found carrying OTF in your cargo pocket while working outside… Clipping it not just having it inside the pocket… the Flap closure keeps ALL the dirt and lint out of your knife vs front pocket carry. Edit: brother that is WAAAAAY TOO MUCH oil… just a few drops 😂 goes A Long way.
Haha. Ya that was my first otf.
I fell down the strider rabbit hole and just picked up this same variant. That makes 4 striders in 2 weeks!!.....
Nice. And good luck. Haha. It happens that fast and will continue
I’ve held that very knife
@@roscomcfarland204 I got this from monkey edge
Lovely knife!
Thanks
Agreed - let the washers polish themselves over time. Look forward to hearing tales from SMKW. Safe travels.
Ya it should be a good time. We’ll see if I can find somoto buy. Ya I’m sure if I tried to cheat I’d mess them up. I’ll just be patient
I agree with you - I don't know how those dudes can pull the pivot, washers, and bushing/blade without pinching washers. CRKs are so damn snug. I use Goof-off to take off nasty adhesives because even on clothes it doesn't stain (too bad). ✌️👊
Ya I just rubbed and rubbed till most of it was gone. And ya I’ll try it sometime but how they do it without messing anything up. Man
Record every moment smoky mountain knife works
Haha we’ll see
I remember when a new Panerai involved a pear wood box and a spare strap with tool. Now it’s a service pouch
Haha. Ya
For me it’s socks. I’ve ordered 3 mega pints of socks over the past 3 months and I have no idea where they go. A 10 pack is arriving this Friday, hopefully I get to wear a couple of them. 🧦 🧙♂️
Ya it’s really a mystery. The funny thing is anytime I bring it up she’ll get mad and tell me to do my own. Then I tell her I’ll gladly do my own because then I’ll have all the clothes I started with at the end.
@@ScotchNThings well, it’s just myself and the dog so I don’t have any scapegoats. I honestly have no idea where they go and I do the laundering every couple of days b/c of work requiring we wear that high yellow vis fad bullshit.
@@wesb123 haha still have the dog to blame
It's those damn underwear gnomes. Lol
Man tell me about it. It’s really a mystery
I used to enjoy flying. But the older I get the less I like it!!! It sucks.
Ya really that’s how I’m getting. The people annoy me that always have zero clue and act like they’ve never flown before
Have a good trip
Thanks man
Appreciate the kind words!🙏🏽👊🏽
No problem man. Much respect to people that make their own stuff
Hope you have a great trip bro
Thanks man just landed.
Good luck with the travel, it definitely can be a pain, really interested to hear about Smokey Mtn. knife works!
Ya it will be cool to at least check it out.
Polish the washers! That helps immensely
Ya I know. But im being stubborn and want to win haha. I’m an idiot
@@ScotchNThings lol! 🤣
Holding one in hand greatly changes your perspective on these.
For better or worse?
@@ScotchNThings better. It makes a lot of other knives feel like toys.
I think that’s the knife that introduced me to your channel. It was quite a while ago I think
Haha ya it’s back baby. It was over 3 years ago
Man! That is sweet! A video comparing this and the TFF-1 would be awesome!
I’ve got a video shot he TFF against the size of striders up
Awesome! Thanks man! Looks great. You think a tff-1 would make a good stand in for a strider?
@@marcmiller2916 ya the ergos are very similar. It’s a taller knife but just as bad ass
As much as I’ve loved every CRK I’ve had, the moment I got a Holt in hand, CRK wasn’t an option anymore. The precision Joe and Angie put out is mind boggling. Better than Koenig, CRK, even better than the rasks I’ve handled. My haptic and Morpheus are insane.
Ya I always forget about them. I’ve wanted a Spector for awhile
If you think Holt is insane, wait ‘till you try a Milwaukee. Those razor blades cut through cardboard like it isn’t even there!
I wouldn't mind watching a video about how you got into the silo building. I think it would make for an interesting video.
Will do. I showed one about a month ago show one. But I’ll do a how I got into it
@@ScotchNThingsI think it would be an interesting video.
I've got a Herman Dragonfly in m398 and a sting in Magnacut. I think Herman is the best bang for the buck. Anyway Herman makes awesome knives. I think if I bought another Herman it would probably be the slim. If you like the bigger Herman's definitely check out the Dragonfly. It's by far my favorite Herman.
Will do. And I agree for what they cost is amazing for what you get.
Sweet strider, I've got to get my hands on one when I have some extra cash. Probably gonna be a while. Lol. Congratulations Scotch, that's a Billy badass strider. 👍🇺🇲💪💯💵💥ER 🤘
Thanks man
KPL Knife Shield works great for getting gunk off the blade.
Thanks. I ended up just rubbing it off with my fingers. It took some time.
Want one, from Canada... wonder how i can get it and from who...? 😢
Man I feel bad for you guys. I don’t know if you can find a dealer up there or even if the knife is taken apart and sent in pieces to you if it will get past customs
Scotch, you should try polishing those washers on a strop. You'll thank me later, trust me.
Haha. I’ve seen guys talk about doing that. You know I should do it but I’m also stubborn and it’s like a battle between me and the knife to see who will break first.
Some people like to break them in the old fashion way I guess. Lol. The polishing makes a world of difference though . NO MORE PAIN. Lol..
Fantastic! You know what we like! 😂💪
Haha. You know it check out the description of the video hah
Thats a beautiful grind
Yes it is
Unfortunately the 31 will never be as smooth as the 21's just due to how they are built. And you can't crank the 31 pivot down like the 21's either
Ya that’s why I started scooping up 21’s that interest me. The 31 can get smooth like a well used 21 it just takes some time and still it’s not anywhere really close to a well broken in 21.
@@ScotchNThings 100%
Frog Lube liquid for removing tape, gunk etc. always works great for me. I have a handful of CRK and only two Grimsmo’s. Both very precise of course, but I think CRK is my kind of precision. I find the Grimsmo hardware not to interface as nice with tool bits. The backspacer closest to the pivot on the 31 affects the pivot tightness so don’t go full blast on that, it can tune tension almost as much as the pivot. Grease only for CRK’s on the washers no matter what Batman or anyone else says. It is designed to run on grease not liquid lubes. Some people mix grease and liquid lube, it just gets messier quicker.
Ya I agree with you on how well a crk is made. And anyone that likes to bag on them I don’t think ever really spent time with one. I need another 31 or 21 like I need a hole in my head but I’m always looking. For how much I love my striders it’s probably the best one and done knife out there.
Great how2 by Steve video😊 Enjoy your trip bud
Haha if I can just help one person on not how to do it I’ve done my job.
@@ScotchNThings haha job well done bro!
Got any thoughts on seb vs inkosi? I have been carrying my inkosi more and more lately-kinda itching for a 31🤔
I’ve always been a Sebenza guy having 6 of them at the moment. I’ve had a couple inkosis but never kept them around and I don’t really know why. I like them but for me the Sebenza is my favorite
I think the 21 is by far a better knife
I had the same issue , the Chris Reeve white fluoride lube worked for mine
Sweet I’ll give it a go
Damn...I was stressed for you - can't imagine how you felt (other than by the colorful language 😂). Good work.✌️
Haha. Ya when I rewatched it I was like oh got a little spicy
