Hey man what arrows would you prefer for the best outcome with the hyper raptor?
@@EvanBell-s3h honestly I'm struggling with the hyper flite ones right now. I'm thinking the headhunters would be more accurate
$300 in canada
Sheesh
Never new u have to set the speed dial i was also having trouble with inconsistent shooting so thx for explaining that
Yeah I still have trouble with it haha
Had to get rid of my compound bow and most of my other archery gear due to a back injury and I gotta say seeing videos of guys going through surgeries/other issues using this crossbow is definitely giving me some relief of mind. Good luck man!
@@dabubba4603 they are great for those of us who can't hold back the compounds anymore !! Also great for new hunters . More ethical
Love my Tenpoint Siege 425! So quiet and so fast and accurate! Go Tenpoint!
I hope to get a reverse draw wicked ridge sometime
I'm hearing about a ton of Barnett fails this year
@@TheEverLovingOutdoors it all depends on where you go I guess. I’ve seen a ton of killer instinct issues. I think the technology needs to catch up to the speeds somewhat. Below 400fps seems to work no problem on most brands
Hey bro when was the updated BCX released - it looks like I have a MAY 2024 model - just received it - let me know - THANKS
Not that long ago I didn't think the realtor was last year and BCX was this year
Was going to buy this xbow. They can't produce these wth the buk ops scopes in time for hunting session. Bought a tenpoint and will not buy a barnett probably every.
@@chrismarfia9917 I’ve actually reached out to ten point to try out that and wicked ridge and I have never heard back
Here'a an idea, use your old Game Crusher instead. Simplicity is the sign of good design, complexity is the opposite.
@@jimaureli6475 that is what I hunt with while testing this one
Too complicted, too many quirks and issues.I love my Barnett whitetail hunter str, not one problem in three years, and 3 bucks down.Too many tight turns on the string and cables plus high poundage = wear problems, just like on compound bows.
Sub 400 might be the safe bet huh
would love to see a video going over the scope have yet to find one
Bought a Hyper Raptor 10/5/24 a week later 10/12/24 got it sighted in and was practicing maybe 10-15 shots and the cable exploded after squeezing's the trigger my bolt went down range as I got smacked in the face by the string. I sent a email to Barnett but with the hurricane idk how long it will take for them to get back to me. I have a older Barnett and I upgraded to the HR and its disappointing at the moment to say the least. I waxed my string and double checked to make sure the bolt is seated as far back and properly that didnt do me any good. what did they say about your Raptor when they got it in and looked at it?
@@MakingHope it just got sent last week. Sounds like the nock broke and the arrow didn't get transfered the energy causing a partial dry fire
@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead i cant seem to find my bolt it went flying and is out in the grass somewhere I just know that when the string smacked my upper cheek it was a little to close to my eye for comfort
@@MakingHope got one of those magnetic nail picker uppers? Maybe it will find the tip?
They need to quit selling these until they get it figured out they know they have a problem with them and they continue selling them. Yours isn’t the only one that has done this. They have crappy strings that are prone to breaking. I had a raptor fx that the bolt didn’t sit on the rail correctly and they never made it right I had to compensate with the scope because it shot extreme left. Then the bow exploded because the string broke. I know of another Barnett that exploded on a guy while he was just sitting in the stand. If you ever get ravin money don’t buy one they only have a 5yr warranty and their warranty department is almost impossible to contact. Excalibur, Ten point, mission all have great bows with lifetime warranties.
I want to get a wicked ridge reverse draw soon but that's a bit over my budget right now haha
@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead my dad has a wicked ridge invader he has had forever. It is big and loud but has been pretty reliable. My wife took her first deer on her very first hunt with it.
Did you ever find an optional lighted nock for the raptor? I want a lighted nock but don’t want to break my strings
@@heavydieselengine8989 they make one that you can order the bolts with
The plastic piece that holds the string on the cocking string broke and pieces went everywhere. This was on the hyper raptor. It’s a bad design and not safe. It should be metal.
@@samsteelman8980 I would like to see that. Even with Centerpoint bows
Dealing with the same crossbow, have you had any luck shooting any other bolt or nock from the Barnett raptor 410?
Just the plain headhunter with factory nock.
the .006 isn'really the issue, however the overall weight is. I have used the arrows that came with my hero 380 several years ago.....sort of. they were inconsistent in weight, one to another, but worse yet they were too damn light unless you use the Chinese 151 gr field points and lighted nocks. if your wife's scale is accurate, then your discount arrows weigh roughly 247 gr, lighted Chinese nocks add another 13 gr over the standard moon nock= 260 gr. now add 151 gr really nice plated field points from Amazon = 411 gr. i'm using the ki mechanical bh's that weigh approx 150 gr give or take a grain either way. now you have sufficient weight to hopefully not blow up your ki hero 380 and I don't know if you are limited on the Barnett bow in terms of what kind of nock it will safely take. your overall speed will be around 360 fps and blow through any deer you pop with that speed/arrow weight combo. go under 400 grains of total arrow weight you're asking for it.....imho! the ki killertech arrows, according to their web site specs, now weigh a good bit more than those that came with my hero 380, so they definitely are putting a heavier insert in there as compared to those arrows that came with my bow several years ago! those underweight arrows were the only way that my 380 shot 380 and it sounded like I was trying to blow my bow up. I fired one and no more, going to 400 gr arrows I already had which were 300gr + 100 gr point + lighted nock.....and these grouped great at 60 yds+ out of the ki 380. I think Barnett headhunters are also roughly 400 gr when using 100 gr point as well.....Easton used to make the headhunters for Barnett, but I don't know if they still do?????? just trying to warn you that the Chinese arrows are fine, but heavy them up!!!!!
Yeah the practice tips are 125 grains on the Chinese ones to heavy them up
Have you tried the headhunter arrows?
@@charlesstrawn-e7j yup as long as you don't have the lighted headhunters nocks they work just fine
Its junk a pile of crap
What's your go to? Love hearing what people like to use
If you haven’t already flip your sled over & use a fine flat file to de-burr the round molding marks. I had to do that on mine. It’s actually very very easy on strings & cables. Hope your surgery went well & you’re completely healed now
Thanks for the tip I'll do that
I’ve had an Amped for 3 years. Crappy trigger, crappy scope (in my opinion) & and little heavy Very very solid & fast x bow Very accurate too I shoot Victory Decimator bolts 150gr 3” cut Swhackers Deepower lighted nocks I also switched the scope out for a LUMIX speed ring 1.5-5x32 I’ve got 10 x bows now 😊
@@GregK-pv5xe that's the dream I want a bunch some day !! I like it but yeah heavy and don't love the trigger
@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead There are guys out there that can fix the trigger issue As for the weight I sling carry mine with a good quality weight distribution sling & when I’m sitting comfy in my ladder stand I don’t notice the weight at all. With that said the HR 410 is probably my favorite for fit & feel. Sure wish they’d get back to me. They were closed today due to the hurricane
Wal mart crossbow is 399 so idk where ur gettin under 200 dollars at.
@@kuntryboy4lyfe125 that was a few months ago now haha
I think we complain about things that need not be complained about. Instead of loading the bolt nock through halo first, put the point through the halo apparatus then push the nock in the trigger mechanism. You are making it too difficult, where it needs not be.
That's a good tip. I try to keep my hand north of the strings if possible that's why I do it that way.
Try the standard hyprflight NON illuminated knock against the illuminated knock. I suspect the illuminated knock is causing it to not fly straight. I quit using them. Following your series closely. Great information. I’m having a different experience with the standard knock than you mentioned. It seemed to me that the illuminated knock clamped on to the serving much tighter than the standard knock.
Hoping to try that this weekend sometime thanks
Hey brother, I had to turn the speed up to 450 and that seemed to help with getting it sighted in
I'll check it out thanks
I am 63 when I get my center point back from shopy back all mess up and shoulder but I am going back to compound 25 years had on string break I just ain't putting no money in cross ows any more anit worth it ther all just breaking something like saynocks bolts targets one problem to another I brag up the amped now and sitting waiting get it back just to many roblems I wish you a good season I don't have money tob

I don't like the thought of broadheads in the ground for someone to find some day.
Cable issues are just before the cam.
Keeping an eye on it
I just did a quick search and the first thing that popped up was Bass Pro shops sells headhunter illuminated nocks for 26.99 You can also buy headhunter bolts with the lighted nocks installed
There is a trick to using a speed ring scope. Focus on elevation. windage issues is usually shooter or the arrows. You can correct that with your windage turret. Here is a quick trick to make sure your speed scope elevation works out to 60-70 yards. Key step is sighting in at 20. You have already done that. Focus on elevation going forward. 1. Go out to 40 yards. Pick a POA at the top of the target and shoot using your 20 yard reticle at that POA. Your arrow should drop about 11". Do NOT remove the arrow from the target!!! 2. Next do not cock your xbow. Aim using your 20 yard reticle at your ORGINAL POA at 40 yards and hold Xbow on that position. As you hold your 20 reticle at that original POA turn the speed dial ring to move your 40 yard reticle to the elevation of your arrow in the target. It's that simple. You should be very close going forward.. 3. Now shoot at 40 yards using your 40 yard reticle. If you hit high turn the speed dial up until your elevation matches at 40 yards. If you hit low turn the speed dial ring down until your arrow is impacting at the correct elevation at 40 yards. It's that simple. Your elevation should be accurate from 30-70. Deal with windage anytime but focus on elevation. Note: Very few speed scopes are accurate out to 100 yards. 60-70 yards is usually their limits. Hope this helps. Not saying the Barnett scope can't shoot further. but most do not. 4. Next level performance: if your arrows are missing right and left they may requir nock tuning. Also, repeated shooting arrows will lose its spine and POI will open up after 10-20 shots for that particular arrow. So this becomes an arrow issue. For more information contact me at Crossbow Nation and I can help you out. Looking at your bow string your servings are already opening up. It will degrade signficantly going forward if you continue to use capture nocks. Using half moon nocks your bowstring will not separate. Good luck!
Thanks for all the tips. Crazy how much work the scope is haha
A lot of people don't think about this with crossbows but there could also be a timing issue with the cams that you wouldn't normally notice at 20 yards due to the speed but will show up the further you go back and 30 you might show a little 40 is gonna be fairly noticable and 50 you will definitely notice it. If it's a compound bow they CAN AND DO have timing issues right out of the box. So just something to think about.
When you have a speed ring scope don't just start with what the bow says is it's rated speed. Get your bows speed with a chronograph and get it actual FPS average (I recommend no less than 5 shots). Then set the speed ring to the average speed you ended up with. From there you sight in with the line it states to use at 20 yards (some are top line some are 2nd line some are even the 3rd line though that's rare) and your lines should correspond with the subsequent yardages after that. You MAY need to make some minor adjustments to the speed ring no more then 3 to 5 FPS with way but most of the time you don't need to to do that
Not sure why u couldn’t use ignitor lighted nocks with the aluminum bushing in the back..
Lumenock GTC illuminated nock works perfect on the standard OD arrow. Only advisement for the Head Hunters is you need to glue in the glo stick on the inner stop with super glue. Do not glue the outer stem. Just one drop of glue where the glow stick inserts into the nock. Very easy fix. Remove the half-moon nock and install the Lumenock GTC nock. Let the glue dry. You won't regret it. Good luck!
throw the hyper bolts in the trash and use normal bolts.I couldnt get the hyper bolts sighted in. they were all over the place.standard bolts are dead on.
Calling arrows bolts I don't really understand why. Try some arrow lube. Might help might not. I have the same issues with 4mm arrows from my compound bows. It annoys me because I like the skinny arrows. But they are a pain in the butt.
I hate the skinny arrows. What compound you got?
Try pulling the crossbow into your shoulder a little tighter. That's what ive found that helps me not jerk so much. And it will make the crossbow more stable when it fires. They say crossbows dont kick but they do a little bit. 😂
I’ve mentioned before I harvested my 2024 black bear with my BCX. Completely pass through broadside @ a good 75 yards. Really impressed with the overall shooting once the scope got dialed in. But the strings and cables seemed to get rough quick. Recommended to wax every 5-10 shots. So I definitely would keep an eye on that. Hopefully I can get that figured out with them. Awesome video and safe hunting

With the hyper raptor you site it in at 20yds it has 6-7 holds in the scope. Can’t remember at the moment. It doesn’t say but I would assume it’s 20-30-40-50-60-70. I had a hold Barnett that the scope was supposed to be 20-30-40-50 but 40 was more like 36 and 50 was like 45. My question is have you tested all the holds to see actually where they are?
