Ha ha, reminds me of a time I was working on a lawn mower. I had taken the handle off the rope and the pull cord sucked right into the starter recoil. I was cursing! Of course just as a friend was walking up the driveway. He probably thought I was crazy.

Great tip for people, been doing this for years and really saves a lot of money over buying individual chains. I also hit up the rental yards for there used chains, they put a new chain on with every rental. I use a dremel tool to grind the rivets down and then use the popper. I just noticed that big safe in the background, Owned a lockshop for 32 years before I retired..

Those are great units and very reliable for normal work conditions, biggest problem is the fuel and fuel tank 😢😢😢 Just don’t let them set up for a year or you’ll be doing this repeatedly 😢

those are not seals , they are loose fitting dust covers , you can pick them out with your fingernail , the grease will go around them and threw the bearing like they are not even there a grease gun puts out like 10 000 psi . when you remove the bearring for no reason you are egging out the soft aluminum housing and before you know it you will have a spun bearing and housing will be junk , just grease until you see it come out ends of spindle , thats how they are designed to work , takes 60-70 pumps to fill em when new , then give em 10 pumps a few times a season to flush the grease contaminated with metal particles out of the bearings and replace with the new grease ya just pumped in , simple as that

Running a engine with out a air filter that is not a great idea to do that

A little preventative maintenance will save you time and money. Just use Seafoam in the gas and you won't need to do this to your carb. Seafoam will keep the gas from turning to sludge and varnish so your carb will stay clean. It's a great fuel stabilizer as well as a cleaner. I've always added it to the gas for all my small motors and it works wonders. My motorcycles, lawnmowers, snowblowers, chainsaws, etc. all start easy and run smooth because of Seafoam. In 35+ years I have never had to cleanout a carb on any of my motors.

You mentioned using NGK BPR5ES plug. Cross reference shows NGK BPR6ES or Champion RN9YC.....Any differance using these hotter plugs on this generator?

Very nice repair Mark and always a pleasure to see you work. I always learn a trick or two from you so thank you. I don't know if the customer asked you to do the work or not, but I think it's a good practice to also pull the belly pan and lubricate the gears, gear adjustment shaft and clean the friction drive disc as well as inspect the drive disk rubber. The whole job will only take 5 minutes and is a vital inspection in my opinion. However if the customer is unwilling to pay you for your work to do it then I understand.

How come they don't put a drain at the bottom of the bowl so you can shut the fuel valve and just run your machine out of gas , then drain the carb?

Over the years I have collected several pieces of equipment with small engines. Our local shops are booked out 6 to 8 weeks depending on parts availability. It is much easier to maintain and repair my own equipment. What solvents and how long do you run the ultrasonic cleaner when cleaning carbonators? Thank you,
