Oh Devo, you cannot so that! That is blasphemy haha
Because this wasn’t on the Truth About De-Evolution DVD I got when I was 12, it was kind of like this forbidden video for several years, and then I somehow caught it on VH1 Classics, which was amazing. After that, I kept checking the channel whenever I got a chance, hoping I’d somehow see it again. Now I can just watch it on RUclips.
One of the worst remakes ever made.
i know this is super pixilated but alan is so cutie patootie
DEVO accurately predicted that lazy modern humans will evolve fatter butts to sit on and will use fake shoulder pads in the late 80s to replace their weak de-evolving shoulders.
Good solo. Great live band.
That base track...... I must repeat!
Solo i DEVO potevano fare una versione così ❤❤❤
DEVO - A force unto themselves. One DEVO record is worth more than Tyler Snifts entire catalogue.
I love this song man
ima spud from way back🥔
I’m still just a spud, looking for a real tomato.
Best DEVO song ever!!!
New to me. Just like Jesus said, seek and ye shall find. 🙏
As a child of the 80s, I am ashamed to say I've never heard or seen this cover until today! And I'm 54 years old.
The Music Biz Bots came up with the New Wave label but I believe Devo was simply the only intelligent and creative Punk band. The rest of Punk were just shills for new clothing looks and attitudes.
Ide leave a comment but im to scared no one will comprehendo my potato😊
I’m only a spud boy!
Loved them in the early 80s....still do😮
A million years later and still the best live performance ever.
Saw this at Flamingo Club in Halifax during the darkness of the early 1980's. The Afghani was super-good!
This is one of, if not my fave, live versions of this Devo classic. So awesome. :)
(He's been with the world) I'm tired of the soup du jour (He's been with the world) I wanna end this prophylactic tour Afraid nobody around here Understands my potato I think I'm only a spud boy Looking for a real tomato [Verse: Bob Mothersbaugh] (He's been with the world) And I'm tired of the soup du jour (He's been with the world) I wanna end this prophylactic tour Afraid nobody around here Comprehends my potato Guess I'm just a spud boy Looking for that real tomato [Chorus] We're Smart Patrol, nowhere to go Suburban robots that monitor reality Common stock, we work around the clock We shove the poles in the holes
How did this become my favorite Devo song(s)? I mean, there are so many good ones.
The greatest song ever written
A great side project. Great how these musicians infiltrated so many kid shows to plant the seed of deevolution.
Wow
It’s a shame I’m only 20 and will never get to see them perform like this!!
Isnt video for that, Beethoven also cannot hear
Around that time, quicker upper CC scooters were popular.....Devo did a commercial for HONDA.
Oh you Cal Arts knuckleheadz I AM MR. DNA
When DEVO played Cleveland in "Peek a Boo" years, the General was in the audience! Many recognized him and saluted!
I remember watching this on beavis and butthead way back in the 90’s. Came across this a few years ago. Guess I didn’t just make it up in my 6 year old imagination lol.
Wasn't into it when first shown on Mtv .....and yes i heard the Hendrix version.....i was 12 years old.....now i love it.😊❤
A couple of shows and a time for the ages. I'll always be indebted to DEVO for giving me such a fun life !!
Seeing them perform this last week in LA was like an out of body experience.
RUclips's been around for 17 years, for fucks sake..
The thing about Devo is that you’re going to sound like an absolute lunatic trying to explain to non Spuds why they’re so fucking amazing. They’re extremely talented musicians. The outfits, the choreography, the precision, the AV, it all gets me right in the feels every time I think about them
rip alan myers, if you listen super carefully to how alan plays during devo - super thing - song. you will not hear a better drummer in tune exactly making the song what it was. if a drummer can play 1 song to perfection on perfect tunes and beats he did this superthing. no drummer alive can outdo what he did on that particular song. its so precise its just beyond any skill set anyone's ever done. most people dont listen enough to understand the back ground and drums what he did during that song. thier is not even a micro second of off tune missed beat for the entirety of the song. its absolutely god like play. very few people ever listen to it in that regard's so they miss his true brilliance of drums. listen so several renditions of superthing and you will know when you found ALAN playing GOD on the set. impossible perfection. i know everyone talks about all the great drummers but for that 1 particular set, he owned the world. ALan did this live, this was back no mixing or all speciality sound stuff folks have today use. he played that set to near impossible human perfection. listen carefully next time you hear that rendition of super thing and it will become real clear quite fast what alan is doing on the drums that day. the song came alive all due to what nobody notices alans drums during the song. if you pick a drummer to play 1 song the best drummer ever this would be alan myers on superthing. maybe not best ever drummer over all, but for single song yep he wins hands down.
Perfection.
Potato photography right here.
Does anyone know who played Daddy Know It All in this??
"Oh Dad, we're ALL Devo!" Truer words were never spoken.
get Bob 2 outta the shadows he's ripping up the rhythm
Nothing touches this, it's perfect
Had a hankerin' to hear this song, and this is the clip I watched. I am sooooooo happy I did. I saw DEVO in 1980 at age 13. This brought back so many good memories. That band was far ahead of their time and happily still measured up as one of the best bands ever.
1978?
i am at my fucking limit
They still got it
Excellent For My Ears!
Man!.... they is tight as a nuns nasty! They are DEVO!
