Hey there 🫶🏼 I'm Emi, a half Japanese, half American girl from Tokyo, Japan, now living in the gorgeous country that is South Africa 🇿🇦
I started this channel to hold myself accountable for my Spanish studies, documenting my Spanish study progress for a year, and eventually reaching a B2 level.
I no longer actively study Spanish, but I'm passionate about film making, and I make content about travel, culture, and languages (and I definitely still have a huge love for everything Latin American)!
Not sure where this RUclips thing will take me, but I'm for sure enjoying the journey-- and I'd love if you could be a part of it as well!
Sending you my love and thanks for reading this ;)

Been watching a few of your videos having searched best ways to learn a new language, but seeing that you're a young woman of faith, you just got a sub ❤ From a neighbor here is Botswana 😊 (Sidenote: I love Colombian Spanish)
I speak Spanish and need to learn English. If someone helps me with English, I can help them with Spanish. My English is basic; I'm just starting.
Next When You Go To Japan Take Me With You I'm In Gauteng
Love your videos !! Pls post more❤
How were you able to move? I am thinking of staying for about 6 months but visa says 90 days from US.
hearing you say yoh makes me giggle so much now i am happy for no reason, eish these videos are too funny 🤣
I agree with your approach regarding taking the examen. It is more a normal progression, at the end of a learning cycle... For me, I have little to no pressure to take it. It is to close 6 months of study.
inspirational fr to those who are trying to learn spanish
Thank youuuu❤ I searched for Rosetta Stone and see what I found! I'm gonna try this
If you were born and raised in America what does your parents’ grandparents’ (or even great grandparents) home country have to do with anything? The majority of Americans are something-Americans but we’re all Americans and would likely have similar reactions to yours depending on where in the country we grew up.
I'm half American, half Japanese, but grew up my whole life in Japan and never lived in America. Just worded it like that because it's shorter ;)
I keep going back to Pimsleur to practice sentence structure. I’m not a beginner by any means, but I do forget exactly how to structure my sentences when I’m still translating some words in my head.
I am VERY new to books in translation so I am doing a lot of research into what I should read. I really enjoyed this video so much from your POV as a Japanese woman in Japan! As an American, I have to agree that the loneliness aspect of each of these likely resonates with us as Americans more and more all of the time because we are a lonely country with an identity crisis and also so much denial of that. Particularly now this video really resonates with me even though it is 3 years old as I watch it because well....sigh, this country is in sure trouble, what can I say. A good portion of us want the hell out so I in particular love to read the books that have deeper thoughts and give me a sense of hope, even if they also highlight the lonely aspects of being a human in the 21st century (no matter where you live).
Bro she’s one of us Load shedding 😂😂
Sorry, typo - mean Emi
Hi Eli, this method was invented by an amazing guy called Michel Thomas so he should be given all the credit. He taught numerous languages this way and now everyone is emulating this!
Amen 🙏
Yoh and flippen and ja ... 😂😂😂😂 Makes you South African... You now one of us ❤
😂😂😂love your content... Lol you sound South African already 😂 by the way you say yoh when expressing yourself 😄👍
Your prayers are pointless. God does not look after you cause he doesn't exist.
21:40 ahhhhh the nostalgia! When I was a kid, every time I went to the shops with my dad I always got a strawberry yogi sip and had it on the way home. Also the rating you gave for TV bar is just unacceptable...
Hahahahaha. We DO joke about everything. Banter is legit our love language.

Agreed! Language transfer is great! And I also agree that it truly feels like a labor of love from the fascinating gentleman who created it.
Thank you Grace ! God bless you ! l love this video !
Do you even care to actually share how you learned Spanish? Did you use books? I mean come on… it would be super helpful.

Wait until you get kidnapped, car-jacked, breakdown (spikes), hit killer potholes, have killer vehicles in your face or have violent thieves walking all over your alarm / secure area home at night, etc. Or you need to travel and have to leave your wife and children on their own. SA isn’t for sissies. I know it and love it - but you need to be real. SA is in most areas - even increasingly in the W Cape - dangerous. When things happen, it is often lightening quick and tragic. RIP to all the people I knew once - and are no longer here. Moreover, realise more poor people (beyond poor) and criminals (beyond criminal) move to SA unhindered from the rest of Africa. Even from Nigeria, very unfortunately. Some places are worse than the Wild West. Dozens of shootings regularly.
Im confused, you mentioned its best to limit resources but you listed 15

Late to the party, but the loneliness that is captured in Japanese lit is very true to what I myself, and others seemingly, have experienced. And it is captured in a way I have not often seen captured in American or British lit.
Thank you for making this video. I’ve been wanting to find a good learning app that’s free and actually works.
The sudden random use of a Japanese word was a surprise 😂. Didn't know u were half a Japanese. "mottainai", the closest I can get is "such a waste". And, Idk, you are the Japanese/American how about "zannenna koto ni..": "unfortunately"?
that's so funny how you stopped watching and listening to Japanese when you discovered English entertainers cuz my situation was opposite with you when it came to Japanese. I stopped listening to English once I discovered Arashi and just followed that deep rabbit hole. It got me interested in learning Japanese.
