    My local theatre venues (two from same company) added the wheelchair spaces to their booking system for me. I go often enough that it saves me phoning every time. I can just book the same way as everyone else online. Unfortunately the other 3 venues i attend still require a phone call. Something annoying is that generally accessible seats and wheelchair spaces are never available at pre-booking (eg band releases seats early). Seems discrimanatory but I just phone immediately on general release day!

    It's interesting how much of a barrier stupid people can be. Logically, any of us could get sick any time but we assume we won't and statistically speaking, these things only occur to a small proportion of the population. Personally, I am aware invisible illnesses exist and aware that i have no clue about many of them. If someone needs accommodations, I am open to it

    I completely understand how it feels to feel out of the loop with the world when feeling unwell in public, that’s a great way of explaining it! I reset my day in a similar fashion when I go to my family lake house. We leave in the mornings for church,I can’t travel and then go to church, so I wake up, travel an hour and a half, and then go back to sleep once I’m home. It actually helps a lot and I don’t feel so horrible. Out of curiosity how long is the train ride to London for you? I’m American and have never been on a train, considering America is so big and we travel far I was curious.😆

      @LifeOfPippa 21 день назад

      Thank you as always for watching Ruby! I'm based in the North of the UK and London is down South, so the train journey is usually between 2-3 hours. Feels like a long time but I bet that's a drop in the ocean compared with travel within the US! 🙈💜

      @@LifeOfPippa Yeah, my cabin is in the same state and it’s an hour and a half away. You can drive 4-5 hours and still be in the same state. The closest big city near me is over 8 hours away and people will drive there no problem for doctor’s appointments and turn around and go home. I can’t tolerate big drives so I fly if I need to travel there.😆

    A "hack" that has helped me with reading on the computer, is to use a text to voice app or addon. I use the firefox browser, and find the "Read Aloud" addon works well. It's free, has a variety of voices that I can modify by pitch/tone/speed. I can highlight a block of text, and have the computer read it to me, or I can click the button and have it read a whole web page. One drawback is that it doesn't read text within a google doc, so I'll copy text from the doc, and paste it into a reader. There are other apps that have been developed for visually impaired people that I have tried, but they have functions that get in my way. If anyone has found something they enjoy, please let us all know.

    On the range side of things, although the advertised range is 11miles/18km the max range Iv had out of mine is 10 miles/16km on perfectly flat smooth ground at 4mph (fastest it can go) I know this isn’t a real world scenario so I found it useful to work out what the minimum range of a full battery would be. And on very hilly gravel and trying to match someone else’s walking pace and stopping and starting it will comfortably do 6.5 miles/10.5km. Knowing this has made planning trips out easier

    I think I commented on your previous video about the Whill saying I had a demo a few years ago and didn't like it. I actually wanted to say in the last few weeks I had another demo, after watching your video, and I got on with it so well! I think the difference was the demo person set it up better for me this time around and it felt more comfortable. I ended up buying it, a second hand Whill C, so the older model compared to your C2. I've also got a manual chair with a Triride so I'm so grateful I have different aids for different situations. Pros of the Whill for me is that it has a much smaller turning circle compared to the footprint of my manual + triride plus the basket underneath holds stuff in! The downside of the Whill is the 10-11 mile range which feels quite low compared to the 30 mile range on my Triride. You also have to beware the "shrug" jolting motion also happens if you set off too quickly! I put mine to speed 3 and started going and it accelerated suddenly and jolted me 😂 I've learned to start going in speed 1 then increase it!

      Oh wow, just goes to show what a difference that point of contact during the demo day makes! So glad to hear that, and it sounds like you've got a good system going having the Triride as well - I still can't stop thinking about how brilliant it was when I tried it out!

I was really impressed with how it handles over bumpy grass, loose gravel, and even tracked well across a sloped path with a loose pebbled surface. I also have ME/CFS, and will be getting a higher back from the start, to support my upper back. i agree !!! in my homegroup, aka the class where its about "social issues" ((except we actually never talk about anything social issue related but whatevz, its legit just 2hr wasted each week)) there is literally one mention of disability in the entire curriculum, and that was when it was for neurodivergent awarness week or smthing, we didnt even learn what it was, we just learned which famous people had adhd n stuff 😭 also in english we did an essay on sitcoms and we were shown sitcoms, had ep1 of malcom in the middle which is ableist asf !!! the moral message was "aprriceate what you have" cuz a side character was in wheelchair and couldnt walk AND THERE WAS NO CORRECTION TO THAT ABLEIST MESSAGE !!!! ((+ we watched young sheldon which has a very sterotyped autisitic mc)) These instances were in the past year, the only change ive noticed in my classmates are that they use the r slur, and Autistic as slur, more ... Our school somehow made kids more ableist... We gotta be taught about disability cuz otherwise the outside world teaches them, and that world is ableist af !!!

    Today I got stared at by an older woman while I was using my wheelchair, because I dropped my phone on the floor and had to move my feet in order to bend down and get it back... She didn't say anything, but the judgemental stare was there... I'm 29 and dealing with symptoms of POTS, plus a narrowed disc in the lower lumbar area of my spine that makes it extremely painful to stand and walk. My heart rate was at 151 earlier today when I wasn't using my chair. After using my chair, I stayed below 130. At one point, I was even under 110! That's rare when I'm not sleeping!

    Oh I love the bag you’ve got on the arm of your chair - what it is (bc I’m looking for one and I’ve also got a Whill C2)

    Man the response of getting a wheelchair from family is shocking the persecution is unheard of that you get. If it was a stranger not a problem because you can get away unlike disfuncanel family where your stuck. But if your lucky your family will support and help and understand.

    I’ve got a Whill C2 and I love it, but I’d have preferred a power add on for my manual. That’s certainly what I want next

    Thanks so much for this. Have just ordered your book. I got Long Covid in 2021 after completing the first year of my degree and meet the ME diagnostic criteria. I’m hoping to return again this September but it’s so daunting. I really appreciate all the advice ❤
