  • This London trip was a tough one on my chronic illness symptoms and left me feeling a little defeated, but I had such a great time at the National Gallery for the launch of their #200Creators initiative and watching Two Strangers Carry A Cake Across New York at the Criterion Theatre. Definitely not my best vlog but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

Hello! My name is Pippa Stacey and I’m a disabled writer, speaker, and communication consultant based in York. I enjoy theatre, books, and fundraising, and can most often be found wearing some form of pyjamas and drinking all of the tea.
I acquired my chronic illness as a young adult and struggle daily with the challenges of living my best life alongside managing a debilitating health condition. However, I’ve finally learned that I don’t have to ‘overcome’ or ‘defy’ my illness in order to be successful, and I know now that there’s nobody’s path you have to follow but your own.
You can find out more by visiting www.lifeofpippa.co.uk, and subscribe to see videos about being a disabled freelancer, enjoying travel and little adventures, and simply learning to find the good in every day. Thank you so much for being here!

I love how you always include your rest bits. The frames of the bed clothes. It just makes it so much more... Natural, in a way? For all of us with chronic ilness.

I'm so glad to hear this as that's exactly my intention when I do it! Normalising rest is hard but it's too big a part of my day to ignore in vlogs!

I love watching you go away and do things by yourself in car too anxious to ever do that! It gives me hope for independence but also what an amazing opportunity thanks for sharing your adventures xx

I completely understand how it feels to feel out of the loop with the world when feeling unwell in public, that’s a great way of explaining it!
I reset my day in a similar fashion when I go to my family lake house. We leave in the mornings for church,I can’t travel and then go to church, so I wake up, travel an hour and a half, and then go back to sleep once I’m home. It actually helps a lot and I don’t feel so horrible.
Out of curiosity how long is the train ride to London for you? I’m American and have never been on a train, considering America is so big and we travel far I was curious.😆

Thank you as always for watching Ruby! I'm based in the North of the UK and London is down South, so the train journey is usually between 2-3 hours. Feels like a long time but I bet that's a drop in the ocean compared with travel within the US! 🙈💜

@@LifeOfPippa Yeah, my cabin is in the same state and it’s an hour and a half away. You can drive 4-5 hours and still be in the same state. The closest big city near me is over 8 hours away and people will drive there no problem for doctor’s appointments and turn around and go home. I can’t tolerate big drives so I fly if I need to travel there.😆

Mornings are really rough for me too, so I can relate to the struggle of getting going. Thanks for the vid!
How will you be decorating your old set of side panels? Keep the new ones for the "dress up" days, and cover the old ones with whimsy?

Ooh I hadn't thought about decorating them as I'm not the craftiest person, but might look into that for the future! I've not managed to get the new ones on yet but so looking forward to it!

@@LifeOfPippaask an artsy friend for ideas, or look for vinyl stickers that suit your vibe. I'm wondering if a 3D sticker of a me sitting in my chair, at the bottom of a flight of stairs, with an accessibility sign posted, would be too much.
