Hi! I am Adam Stillwaggon. I love being outdoors and spending my time in nature. Hiking and running are my two passions. Check out my channel to see how I am still going far!
2024 Year In Review
I decided to make a video chronicling most of my adventures from 2024. I couldn't fit everything into one video, but I did put in the best waterfalls, structures, races, and trails I was able to experience last year. I am hoping to see even more of western Pennsylvania and beyond in 2025. Stay tuned!

Running an ultramarathon in New River Gorge National Park
Просмотров 19928 дней назад
Wolf Creek Race Management invited me out to run the New River Gorge 50k in the beautiful, New River Gorge National Park. It was a cold day on an amazingly runnable course. The race was extremely well put together and designed. The course had some nice flat sections, plenty of views of the gorge and bridge, historical ruins, and several bridge crossings. New River Gorge National Park has everyt...
Clear Creek State Park Backpacking (Day Trip)

Mike and I headed over to Forest County, Pennsylvania to visit Clear Creek State Park during peak fall foliage. This state park has miles of trails, many of them easy hiking loops. The Tadler/Tobecco Trail took us along the Clarion River, up a ridge, and through tunnels of mountain laurels. The River and Irish Rock trail wound upstream along the Clarion River with beautiful views of sunlit foli...
Hiking to fall foliage at Beartown Rocks
Просмотров 1552 месяца назад
Mike and I hiked through Clear Creek State Forest in Pennsylvania to view the prime fall foliage at Beartown Rocks, a large rock outcropping on the top of a hill. The hike took us from low in the valley up the rugged and rocky incline to the overlook. Oh boy, were the views incredible!
Tent Camping at Laurel Hill State Park (and the best overlook in PA!)

My family and I drove to Laurel Hill State Park for a weekend camping trip. We camped at Site 74 in the Laurel Hill Campground and during the three days we were there, we were able to swim at the beach, fish on Laurel Lake, hike through a natural Hemlock Area, walk on the dam, climb the Scenic Overlook Tower, hike on the Pumphouse Trail, and visit the Jones Mill Run Dam. This park definitely ha...
Adventuring in Parker Dam State Park (and the 5 best things to do!)

I drove to Parker Dam State Park for a day trip and had an absolute blast. I was able to hike on several hiking trails, some along Laurel Run and one that climbed up to an incredible overlook. Laurel Lake was busy with kayaks, fishermen, and swimmers; I even decided to take a dip myself. The park has lots of history surrounding the CCC and large section of the park where damage from a tornado t...

Exploring more of the North Country Trail
Thats called Leesburg falls nobody calls it Springfield falls and everyone knows about it
The purpose of my video was to highlight the ruins of the Springfield Furnace. I believe the falls were originally named Springfield Falls; the name Leesburg Falls is another, possibly more common, name it is known by.
Thank you for this video. I attended in 1977 from Great Trail Council (Cleveland OH), and agree with the comments below; it sure felt like more than two days of rain. I remember "merit badge mudway" very well. Lots of Scouts sliding in mud! The amphitheater remains a vivid memory, seeing all that red was quite awesome. Thank you.
You had us dancing over here with that banger 😅 great stuff and Happy New Year my friend!
Happy New Year to you too!
As always, great video and great job on the 50k! Love the Racoon hat.
Thanks a bunch. The RR hat felt appropriate!
Good job on the video! The New River race is on my race bucket list so hopefully I get to it sometime. That's impressive to go hiking after finishing the race, my friends and I will sometimes do some hikes after our races, it's fun, but the extra mileage adds up and I feel it the next day. Keep up the great job!
Thanks for watching! It's definitely a race to add to your bucket list.
thank you , thank you, thank you Adam. this was well done and I truly appreciate your efforts. I attended the '77 Jamboree traveling from Oklahoma with ~35 other scouts from my region. yes, we all called it "More Rain St. Park," but it seems like it rained for more than two days (but that was a looong time ago). President Jimmy Carter was scheduled to speak to us but cancelled at what seemed the last moment. and, of course, the (at the time) recent Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner was there (when he was still Bruce). it truly was a once in a lifetime event for an 11-year-old scout. I've recently been doing some research on what was left of the Jamboree in the park and had seen this from google maps. it's great to see the old footage and your newest footage. as a former broadcast engineer, job well done, sir!
Thanks! I really appreciate your kind words and comments.😊
Local here that hikes there frequently. Next time you visit there, the overlook on Ledges in your video pales in comparison to the upper one near where Ledges and Copperas Rocks trail meet up on op of the ridge about 1/4 mile from the smaller overlook you stopped at. It has a very expansive view of the mountains and forests facing the opposite direction.
Locals always know the best places!
Great images of fall! Ill have to go back in season.
You should, it's a great spot!
Haha! Keep working man!
Worth it- both eating and running.
Minister Creek?
Yes, sir!
Mother Nature at her finest.
Awesome 👍
Given the lack of rainfall this year, I’d be willing to bet the skin of my elbow is still on Irish Rock from when that green moss reached out and tripped me last May. 😅
Ouch! Gotta be careful on those big Irish rocks.
Great stuff buddy, still hilarious to me that we were there within a day of each other! One day our paths will cross, for whatever reason I left my drone back in the truck this day and I was kicking myself for not bringing it. Everything from the drone shots to the music was excellent man, really looking forward to our plans in the spring!
Thanks a lot! There is a definitely a video collab in the future!
What mile is the water crossing? I'm doing the 100 in 2025, so curious if it is toward the beginning, middle, or end of a loop.
It's about 2/3 of the way through the loop. There is an option to skip this year; it adds about 2.5 miles to the 100 miler.
Great video, love the drone footage!
Thanks! I was really happy with how it turned out.
Was there in 1973,Danny Thomas spoke to us at that theater! Funny don’t remember the water. Showers were quick n fast water came out of the ground, VERY COLD! Thanks!
Just love Pymatuning. Try to go there at least twice a year. Sometimes more. Even if I had to just do day trips I would.
I don't get there as much as I'd like!
GO MR. STILLWAGGON ‼️‼️‼️
This video , solely this video, has me training right now for may 31st for my first ultra. I know I won’t win, I just want to finish and that’s my goal!
Awesome! That is a great goal to have. Honestly, that was my goal as well. I really didn't know what to expect and didn't even know if I could run that long!
I was part of Troop 288 out of Philadelphia. Thanks for the video, great time to be a 12 year old scout
Nice video.I found a few you missed tho.😐Just a few.
Used to hunt in that area and never heard of the falls. Is it upstream or downstream from the old bridge at Reeds Furnace?
About a mile upstream.
I am hoping I can make the registration cut for next year's 50K. Itching to give it a go.
Be ready on registration day! The 50k sold out in less than 15 minutes this year.
Hey guys, love the video! I’m currently in preparation of planning a trip. I’m trying to figure out how many miles it is from Sioux campground to Pioneer. Do you know?
It looks like its gonna be a little over 3 miles between campsites. Have fun!
Wow! Looks like they put on a great race. And that “stream” crossing would be something to have to overcome. You’re not not going to get sloppy feet on that. On my list now. Great video.
They absolutely do! I am planning on running this year. New this year is the option to skip the stream crossing. It adds a small bit of distance, but your feet should be drier and warmer!
@@StillGoingFarthat’s nice. I would definitely opt for that and that’s definitely more of a creek. I’ve already got a race that day so it will be 2026 for me.
Cool!
Glad I found this before I hike there! Great video.
Awesome! Thank you!
Was there last weekend, love this park 👍
Nice 👍 Hope you had some fun!
Great video, Thanks so much.
You are welcome!
Wow my man you covered some ground in this video! Even cooler you showed off one of my favorite parks in the state (Kooser) great stuff as always, your drone shots were 👌🏼👌🏼
We sure did! I'd love to go back to Kooser when the fish were biting! I saw a lot of them, but none seemed hungry.
@@StillGoingFar there are some monster pike in that lake
Looks like an awesome spot to camp. I've actually been to this park and loved it.
The campsite was great. They have more wooded sites as well, and it was very spacious.
Beautiful video. Enjoyed watching the video. Thank you for sharing. 👍1
Many thanks!
One of my favorite overlooks. I've never been there during peak autumn foliage, but I'm going to try and get there this year.
It really is incredible! Breathtaking in person.
Great hike! I've made several short videos of shorter sections along here. It's so cool to see it all in one go.
This is still one of the most ambitious overnight hikes I've attempted. What a blast!
You didn't go across the swinging bridge or the balanced rock? You were right there across from the ice mine. So many spots on Raystown to visit!
We did everything in Trough Creek, balanced rock and the swinging bridge included!
Looks fun. How do you deal with transporting your own kayak? You take an Uber back to the start to get your car?
This trip was a short one and I had my FIL pick me up when I reached my destination!
I am so appreciative of this video!! Great following everyone’s approach to this race, congrats on such a successful day. I’m still getting in shape but I’d love to race this one day.
This race was brutal, but had been on my race bucket list for some time. When I finally I got the chance, I took it. I sure did have a blast! Who knows, maybe I'll be back someday to take on the 100k!
Thanks for a very info packed video. You filming technique is very professional, your zoom in & out is seamless & how you integrated the drone footage is great Thanks. Stringing all your videos together would make a great intro to PA parks to sell to the State?
Another epic adventure Adam, can’t agree more about the short hike along Laurel Run it’s a magical spot, also hard to beat those views at the top there. Looking forward to the next one!
My expectations were exceeded. What a wonderful park to visit! Thanks again.
I haven't been to this park yet, so appreciate seeing the 5 things I should see. Looks like awesome hiking and nice to have swimming on the summer too.
Yeah, I was surprised at how entertained I was. Definitely a great place for a weekend visit.
I never new about this park . THANKS
Nice! Plan a visit sometime soon!
I’m 48 now and when I was 16 I spent some time in youth forestry camp 3 and I had to sleep in the woods for a week alone to graduate. Knowing what I know now with werewolves running around on these grounds. 😱
Alone in the woods is always nerve-racking!
@@StillGoingFar yes it is
Thanks for the nice presentation - I was raised about 8 miles North on PA-153 in the town of Penfield and am very familiar with both Elliott and Parker Dam State Parks. I have a recollection from the early fifties of a fire tower being located there, the elevation is right around 2000 feet and was well suited for one. At around the 00:20 mark in the video on the left side of the screen over your shoulder sits a light-colored vehicle. I think the fire tower stood in what is now that parking area.
What a great area! I enjoyed my visit very much.
I was there with troop 855 for Severna Park, Maryland. I remember the amphitheater and swimming and the report fireworks they used to signal times for events. The memory that stands out the most is that our assistant scout master pitched his tent in poison ivy and had a terrible rash by the end of the event.
I would have loved to have been there. The memories that everyone is sharing here in the comments make it sound like it was an unforgettable event!
Joe Severino my second husband was an important worker of building the dam. Which became a reservoir of the Lake Arthur back in the 70's.
My father in law and his backhoe worked and helped build the park in the 70's. Charles Graham I dated his son at the time and it was a very proud and exciting memory to be part of.
We stayed there a few times when I was a teenager. My parents didn’t care for it, though. My sister and I didn’t like the fact that so few people were there and there wasn’t much opportunity for stuff we liked such as hanging out at the playground, making friends and pick up games of baseball or capture the flag. Instead, we would go to Parker Dam. But there, the cabins were so far removed from the campground that it was hard to intermingle with other guests. I guess we were just spoiled on good old Clear Creek where we had the best of all worlds. I’ve considered staying at S.B. Elliott during the elk rut but have often wondered if road noise from I80 can be heard at night. I live along Route 322 so I’m accustomed to road noise but prefer to leave it behind when I camp. It is nice to see that the CCC era structures are being maintained. Thanks for the video, Adam. They’re always appreciated.
Thanks! Parker Dam is definitely the better of these two parks, but I enjoyed S.B. Elliott for what it was. I love imagining what it would have looked like in its heyday.
Thanks for a great video. Your filming is very professional, your narrative just right & packed with current & very interesting Historical info. We'll be following your foot steps. Thanks
