My father in law and his backhoe worked and helped build the park in the 70's. Charles Graham I dated his son at the time and it was a very proud and exciting memory to be part of.

I was in the Delmarva peninsula Council during the 73 jamboree, but as a matter of fate, I ended up in cranberry Township Butler County Southern, but my Boy Scout troop was in Marine trail Council. We were the hosts, so we did day trips up to the camp for those weeks… It was outstanding. My two daughters are in scouting now they’re in Boy Scouts, so I had my neckerchiefs that were pristine I gave them to them. I have my original blue, and from 73 and then I have the beautiful multi colored one from 77.

I was a member of the Japanese contingent to the 1973 Jamboree. Our camp site was in the Camp Jackson. The members will meet here in Japan next month celebrating its golden jubilee!

I was not a Scout yet in 1973, but I was wanting to be. My dad took me to see this spectical as we lived near by. I was in complete awe. It inspired me to join even more.
I believe that the original thought of the BSA was that Moraine State Park was to be the permanent site for all their Jamborees. But, some negative elements in the community changed their minds to look to a place called Fort A.P. Hill.

I was at Camp Sam Wood in Pike NY as a British Scout acting as a camp counsellor in 1977.
A couple of leaders from there took five of us on a drive to the Jamboree at Moraine State Park for a two day visit. I recognised the entrance area and the arena where we watched the closing ceremony with Burl Ives. It was a brilliant couple of days meeting all sorts of people and I was really impressed with the whole thing.
Thanks for bringing back some great memories, you mentioned the rain which had fallen but unfortunately I think that there were two scouts who were struck by lightning and died, very sad.

I was at the 1973 Jamboree. Sir William Johnson Council, Fulton and Montgomery Counties, NY. I remember meeting the Japanese Contingent and swapping signatures and patches with them. I enjoyed the Jamboree immensely. I remember Danny Thomas being at our assembly.

I attended in 1977, don't recall our troop number. Tidewater Council, VA.
It rained, rained and Mo-rain. We dug small trenches on the up-hill side of our tents to divert the water. The sun eventually came out. I remember the fire works and Burl Ives.
thank you for sharing the video.

I was there with troop 855 for Severna Park, Maryland. I remember the amphitheater and swimming and the report fireworks they used to signal times for events. The memory that stands out the most is that our assistant scout master pitched his tent in poison ivy and had a terrible rash by the end of the event.
