I'm 28 getting ready to apply for the royal navy. Use to fight English amateurs. Would you say the mental toughness I learnt during hard fights and the round after round off sparring will help with the mentality on the physical training in the royal navy

Follow a good solid 3 month training plan leading into a taper for the last couple of weeks to reduce fatigue and a weeks rest with minimal recovery exercise during. Maintain a good diet all the while and stay off the drink and get plenty of sleep. You may as well get used to the sacrifices. Cheat and your only cheating yourself. Get to lympstone and stand by. Enjoy it and listen to what your told. End of the day, treat things like you would for a serious race or event. More you put in, the better the outcome.

My training plan: My current schedule Monday: pjft bodyweight test & 8km zone 2 run Tuesday: heavy upper body chest training weighted dips push ups 4×12 (increase weight) & swimming interval sprints and underwater distance fly kicks Wednesday: 8km zone two in the morning, bodyweight test and race pace swimming in the evening 20× 100 Thursday: pjfa bodyweight test & rest Friday:8km zone two& upper body and weighted pull-ups in the evening with swimming sprints Saturday: rest Sunday: combat training& heavy leg strength session& swimming sprints (no more than 10 minutes actually sprinting) And a lot of food and protein; eggs, pomegranate seeds, mince turkey, mince beef, chicken, sourdough bread, tiger bread, mango chutney, ×2 peanut butter shakes a day, cereal, honey nuts and dark chocolate, Get plenty of sleep because you'll miss it in training

Monday: 45 min Zone 2 run Tuesday: Full Body Strength day (Deadlift and OHP focus) Wednesday: 1/2 and 1/4 mile repeats Thursday: Full Body Strength (Squat and Bench Press Focus) Friday: Ruck Saturday: Full Body Strength (Incline Bench Press Focus) Sunday: Swimming What do you do for your Combat training that is interesting is that just a hobby for you Boxing,MMA,BJJ or have you implemented that specifically for your RM prep
@@JackLearman grappling no gi, and sometimes Thai boxing during the week. It's more for fun than specific to royal marines to be fair. But having a membership in a MMA gym allows you to be flexible in the sessions you train. But I don't know how transferable it is for royal marines and the extra sessions might be hindering recovery for other aspects of the training prep.

Actual strength training has helped me massively in prep for RM, compounds such as hip thrusts are avoided by most lads but this has been most beneficial for me since I’ve implemented them, stronger core, glutes, hips even lower back and overall lower strength and robustness.
Upon passing out you will become a driver of lorry’s and coaches. It’s mandatory. You cannot get out of it boyos

Exactly that means 2 commando is better than RM because it's SF
@@LucasAlpe-c7m what I mean is it isnt direct entry like RM is. you would have to go through kapooka and singleton and serve for a few yesrs like anyone else before even thinking about joining. rethink your motivations if pay is a big part.
On the website it says you do recruit and basic training and then 9 months plus all the SF continuum training so where has this few years come from?

I was in the SAS and seal team 6 and walts are just really getting on my tits.
Do they teach muay thai or boxing there for example
Do they teach Martial arts over there wanna join but also wanna learn martial arts
when i completed mine online, i did only one section of it and my page bugged out so i refreshed it and it concluded the whole test. turns out i still passed, which shows the pass rate for the marines when it comes to the DAA, the real tests are actually becoming physically and mentally robust to pass the physical tests further down the line
I’ve been interested in the military since I was young as my dad was in the army for 30 years. But growing up I was really small and weak so I never thought about joining, however since I turned 16-17 I growed from 5ft 2 to 6 ft and have been on and off to the gym, I struggle gaining weight being muscle or any at all I’m now 20 and weigh about 67kg. Would your program help me stick to a work out plan, I just find everything online too much of this and that and need to stick to something so I could have a chance in the Royal Marines. I find fitness and outside great fun but I’m not natural at it. Any advice
The tough training was essential for what lay ahead for when I joined my Unit..42 in the Far East…did my 9 years from 64/73..mostly with Recce troop

Depends how quick you’re wanting to go about it, dirty bulk if you’re wanting it quickly, ie high calorie foods and heavy lifting or you can slowly increase your calorie intake and slowly up your weights, more reps, or higher weight loads
Whats the eye tests like?
Not sure he'll do 23 pullups with that slow speed
Is it possible to get an AIB guide for Royal Navy FAA officer? Even though it’s not Royal Marines specifically you might still be able to give some great advice, anything is better than nothing! Been following your instagram for a while now and it’s been a massive help thus far!
Whats the pass grade and what happens if you fail?
if you fail you are taken aboard the first available royal navy vessel, sailed out into the middle of the north sea and must 'walk the plank'

Have the times for the 3 miler changed recently? On the MOD site it says 1.5 miles in 15 mins and the next 1.5 miles in under 11:15 mins!? That's for the All Arms Commando Course. Or is that different to the PRMC for civvies? So confused.

Hit the physical..be as fuc..ing fit as you can be......but 90% is in your head...the Royal Marines want men with a brain on their shoulders. Nice to see the commandos are still in good hands.

Back in 1988 I was a Bosun's Mate in the USN and our ship pulled into Gibralter. I was picked for Shore Patrol with a few other guys. We reported to the Provost's office and met the Provost and had a chat. He said, "I'll take you out to meet your leaders for tonight. There were 4 Royal Marines in the green uniform. One corporal nudged his SGT and said, "Hey, take the big guy." (I was 6'1" 244 pounds and had a 36" waist and a 48 inch chest and a 20 neck.Lifted for an hour each day) About 11 we got called to a fight, and some drunk sailor hit me with a bottle over the head but it didn't break, I didn't even stagger. I just grabbed the guy by his ear and lifted him up.Worked with those guys for three nights, what a blast. One thing that flipped me out was one guy was standing having a cigarette and another guy sneaks behind him, lowers himself and then grabbed the guys ankles and down he went. He had one ankle in each hand and he used his foot to tap him in the balls. An officer saw it and told me that the Commandos have used that move since WW2, but the other man isn't alive when it is over.
Hey Harry. Have the requirements for the marines dropped recently? I thought you had to aim for 60 press ups (for example) and was given full marks if you hit that?? Then given less depending on where you failed
