to correct something, there ARE blackmagics that can record over 240fps, the Blackmagic Ursa Mini pro G2 can shoot upto 300fps. source: I own one.

Cool video. But one mention. The 100mm shimmed. Or at least my copy is very usable at the widest aperture of t2.8. It might be a faulty lens ufortunately

You forgot the biggest issue with this lens, it doesn't fit a lot of adapters. Some people are really pi$$ed. The back protrusion is the problem! 😢😮

Man! I’m in this boat right now lol my main cameras are red Komodos. I’ve been using a gh7 with them but honestly I can see the limitations of the sensor. It doesn’t hold the grade in 10 bit or raw like Komodo does. I can’t get mad at it. On its own, it’s a great camera but next to red it doesn’t hold up. I’ve had an xs20 laying around as my dad cam for months and I’m just seeing how powerful it is in video even next to red. In raw it can hold a red grade and in 10 bit it also holds it nicely. Better than the gh7 cam. It’s got me wanting to ditch mft lumix and get an xh2s to be solid c cam/hybrid cam next to my Komodos or use an xh2s & xs20 a&b cams on their own. I’m torn right now. So far I know I want an apsc camera because the lenses are smaller but I can also adapt to FF lenses and have a closer to FF look. Super versatile and I reckon the xh2s is the best apsc camera. Have any advice ???

Dude there is a lot of distortion and the barrel distortion looks very distracting. Are you shooting this to camera with it. Your table looks very bent. Things get worse when the camera tilts. Thx

I really like your cinematography, although I guess I am just not a paricularly big fan of anamorphic lenses myself. Oh well.

The 33 and 50 are my favs! Pretty good center sharpness that isn’t too clinical. The 33 def has wonky edges but any time I’m shooting 3:2 FF i use distortion control in post and it gets rid of most of it.

I’m either buying this 33mm Remus or 35mm thypoch simera C this Wednesday have you used both?

I think the pattern i've been seeing is anamorphic at longer telephoto lengths (85 and up) are soft wide open unless they're Sirui or Laowa. But then the Sirui/Laowa's anamorphics are sometimes clinically too sharp.

The footage you showed from the fx3 was poorly graded, I've seen some absolutely stunning footage from the fx3.

I have another question. My M7 just arrived, and I also got a Lexar Go 2TB SSD w/hub, but when I plug the hub into the gimbal it doesn't charge my phone (my phone charges when I plug it directly into the gimbal though. I also plugged the hub into an external battery and my phone still wouldn't charge. As a matter of fact, the only way that I can get it to work is by plugging the hub into my MacBooks charger. Have you had any problems with your Lexar Go charging your phone?

Feel the Ursa Broadcast G2 gets forgotten mostly because of the name. Upgrading to that since I prefer the heavier body and easy access to buttons when using a shoulder rig.

Listen up ya'll 33:00 mark. Buying Red will cost you! The memory space I need to keep up shooting Red is absolutely is insane. When I grade properly lit footage on my Reds, it could pass as professionally shot motion picutre. A thing to consider, is that since Nikon bought Red their cameras prices are in the dirt. You can get a Monstro like I did for under 5k! It was a 60k + camera only a year or so ago! Its a pain in the ass shotting and editing on Red, with all the new stuff you need to do, and shit you need to buy, but once you go RED, ARRI, or Venice, YOU DON'T GO BACK. i watched the whole video and subbed btw!

I have 2 reds (Komodo x, & Monstro) and bought an FX3. With the external monitor to get 12 but raw is perfect to shoot pick ups and match up to my r3d footage. This being said, your the first person to mention the quality difference, which IS a problem. Its not a Red or ARRI but the slow motion, and low light capabilities are the reason i got it. Also the "cinenatic look" you are failing to get with the digital looking FX3, obviously has much more to do with the glass. Question: How do you thinl the Komodo mtches up with the DSMC 2 Red Dragon?

In the spirit of rude and snarky comments, is that the best FX3 footage you have? I have seen beautiful FX3 footage on RUclips and yours looks like it was shot with a different camera. The difference in quality is striking. Could it be you didn't grade it right?

the Pyxis has the same camera guts from the the pocket 4k, with a body change and a larger sensor. the pocket 4k has more frame, more formats and a sharper image , a better value in comparison.

Varicam LT, Panasonic S1H, Red Scarlet X, Sony F5 are some other high IQ low cost yesteryears cinema cams for my budget boyos.

The Sony is priced correctly in my opinion. I’m a lifelong Fuji shooter. I have used and reviews the xh2s extensively and I just now bought the fx3. I’m saying this so people don’t come at me and say I’m a Sony fanboy…. Anyway the Sony is $3700 here in the US and it’s priced correctly! The black magic cameras are cheap because they lack A LOT. If you ONLY care about image quality then yes of course the black magic cameras are the best bang for the buck BUTTTT the battery life sucks! The rolling shutter sucks, no autofocus and I get it some people don’t care about that…. My man these are BIG DEALS! You’re playing off these things like it’s no big deal but for a lot of people it totally is. That little fx3 has way better low light capabilities than any of the cameras you mentioned, best AF out of any camera but you can pull your own focus if you want so having that AF option is super nice. Best battery life out of any of these cameras, best rolling shutters out of any of these cameras oh and by the way it fits into a tiny bag and my back doesn’t hurt while using it all day. I can rig out my fx3 and I can shoot ProRes raw which by the way is true raw and not a hybrid RAW like BRAW is. ProRes raw IS more flexible in post than BRAW lets get that clear here. You can convert ProRes raw into cdng into various compressions and edit that in davinci resolve perfectly IF you want. Final thoughts about the fx3…. Technology becomes expensive when you get the same performance but in a smaller package. The FX3 IS a cinema camera and is requested by many production studios no a days. I understand you like black magic cameras a lot pretty much how I like fujifilm but to call the fx3 not a cinema camera is wild.

Your comment about Komodo image falling apart if you aren't willing to spend time on lighting, is totally inaccurate poppycock? Come on! That's true of any camera - BUT - RED raw allows way more flexibility in post, so it actually demands LESS from videographers in terms of lighting (because ISO can be pushed around so much non-destructively using RED Raw). Komodo X is the one to go for here, especially with its superior color science, the 3K cost reduction, other features and very usable autofocus. Otherwise, though thank you for all of your work putting this huge comparison together - it's appreciated!
