yes, actually really enjoyed that 'throaty' sound, as you called it! :) You must have been in it's lower register there, because I was thinking it sounded a bit like your octave mandolins! Absolutely exquisite build. Rythym or lead, beautiful "character" changes seem very easy to achieve with this pristine work of art. Tuning heads ARE gorgeous too. (*notes to self - scale a lil longer? than 25 1/4" 😀 15.5" wide body 🤗). Thanks for posting! 😉

Nyberg Instruments A 7 for the High E String (they make Terminator Tailpieces like Allen 10 string Mandolin tailpieces) to allow for ball & loop end strings, would be great for people who have Arthritis & also a longer scale length.

Hello dear channel I have question Im so confused Irish bouzuoki, mandolin and cittern Which one is which beacuse they have alomst the same also sound quality and sound textur is quite similar so , which one is which ..is there any difference between these three European traditional instruments? ..is there any we could find difference between them?? If yes then which one is which

I have a question about your instruments, who are your intended customers... Irish/Celtic? Seems you have a niche and have filled it well. Where can I here some of the players, are there you tube videos. I would like to see and hear more. As I no longer build for sale (that was years ago) and have no intent of doing so, I am happy to make for family and friends and for the pure joy and exploration and investigation. Wood is a miracle material. Instrument making is an endeavor of the highest order. My compliments for your achievement. Edit... I just checked out your web site.. spectacular.

Great sound, beautiful instrument. I, too, am enamored of Port Orford Cedar. I have quite a few billets from dead fall trees, all legally harvested thanks to the Oregon Dept of Forestry. A local classical guitar maker uses POC exclusively. Looks good, sounds superb and the smell : ) A few Flamenco guitar makers are using POC for backs, sides and tops.

Another fantastic instrument. California Redwood and California Bay Laurel. umbellularia californica AKA Oregon Myrtle.

Beautiful instrument, sounds great. I have been hoarding Doug fir for a number of years. All very old growth, perfect quarter. Most of it now 20-40 years in my stash. I am in So Oregon... good old growth Doug fir is difficult to find. I use it for cavaquinho tops. There was a violin maker near Mt Shasta who was using Doug Fir for tops as far back as the 1920s. Exquisite. Phoenix Mandolins were occasionally topped with Doug Fir. And his line of mandolins prior to the Phoenix were Doug fir. He discontinued use because of brittleness and cracking. However the tone was fantastic. I imagine that some controlled bracing and careful attention to thickness may be the key to longevity.
