WonderPan 400- Grain Never Tasted So Good! 🍳
Pretty impressed with my X300, and 50mm f1.7 lens. Nice and sharp.
Studied tv production at college and uni. It’s a side quest. Tell a story in a single frame, tell an epic in 24 frames a second.
So far? So far right. I can enter later?!
Had no option as a kid digital didn't exist. Returned to shooting film last year after rescuing my old camera from the loft. 😊 What I would also add is that it has given me a new lease of life with photography again and have switched digital systems to Fujifilm and it's just fun again.
There's so much fun to be had in film! Glad it's helped you to find your love for photography again 🥰
I never totally moved away from film. I started collecting cameras at a young age, so even when my main photography shifted to digital, I retained film as a hobby. The Argus Collecters Group is probably mostly responsible for that.
That's great! I bet you've acquired a lot of cameras over the years and nice to hear you've found a community in film.
Me I learned in college and university and I do my own photography and developing at home.
How fun! Nothing better than having your own darkroom 😍
@AnalogueWonderland I have the gear but not the space foe a dark room but I develope my film in the kitchen with a dark bag....and use my chemicals gets the job done.
Hey, I have an R72 filter, and some rollei 400, I want to shoot on my canon A1, with a 50mm lens, however 1. How do you develop this film? -can I use ilford ilforsol, stop bath & rapid fixer 2. What ISO do I shoot this at? -do I meter through my camera’s built in light meter -if I’m metering, do I meter for like iso 12 with the filter off or iso 400 and just meter through the filter? -do I need to change the metering stops on my camera (the canon A1 can adjust for metering a few extra stops without an iso change) Thanks again anyone can answer my questions and queries!
El mejor video sobre la pentax 17.
Thank you! 🫶
The stickers go straight in the bin lol
That's a shame, we spend a lot of time on our stickers. Please send them back to us with the free shipping label so other customers can enjoy 😊
How old is your social media manager, 60?
XP2 looks even better when developed in B&W chemistry.
No darkroom needed 😊 Artly innovative 😊
Indeed! Have you tried any of these processes before? ☺
you guys got shorts now?
Yes! Enjoy them 😎
especially in the warm weather
I need to find my daughter's Polaroid camera and give emulsion lifting a go. I love the idea of creating 'wet photographic ' images with the lights on!
Absolutely! Emulsion lifts are so magical 😍Have fun!
lol ISO 3200 film on half camera
It works!
3200 iso film is ideal for these environments.
@@Answersonapostcard Exactly! It would be a real struggle with lower ISOs 😅
what camera are you using?
@@alanicyculipus615 Pentax 17?
@@mvv1408 Correct!
Its vandalism!
Art is subjective 🤷♀
I think you might be over optimistic about the demand for Super 8 at ~£150 / 2.5 mins run time. It's a great format, but really a professional one for the last 30 years.
Surely this is non colour graded footage?!
Is that how Kodak London grades the footage, or you did you guys just not know what to do with Log footage?
Recently bout a load of 200,400 and 800 direct from Candido!! Amazing customer service, super quick delivery and also love how I can use paypal on their site!! Cheers Candido!!
Really helpful review & I’m really looking forward to receiving mine. Is there any guidance about when to use exposure compensation dial (aside from using to effectively push or pull film)? Are there particular conditions / situations where using it is necessary? Thanks!
by the way, half frame is print quality, not digital scanning quality. - Print depends on film quality, and lens sharpness . - But if you still want to measure it, from one realy comprenhesnive review of the film vs digital - on the internet - film resoilutin transfered to digital, was around 100-120 MPX - So the half frame would be at least 50 mpx
real good photos and explanation video ! - thanks !
The stickers generally go straight in the bin.
Oh that's a real shame. We spend a lot of time designing them ☹ If you use our lab for developing, maybe send them back to us instead so they don't go to waste?
Great news. This is the same way you do it with Spotmatics, K, and M series Pentaxes.
Great video, very informative
I noticed you were saying photos rather than photo. Does that mean we can submit multiple photos?
Correct! You can submit as many as you like 😊 Although, you can only submit one at a time with the form, so you'll need to put your details in a few times per photo.
I was mad they didn't make it possible ! Awesome ! Bet they didn't even know about that ! Thanks for informing us. Sure wish they had thought of a self timer, the plug in for the electronic shutter release doesn't come with a plug to keep water and dust out of it either. And why didnt they make a kit set up with the shutter release included ? I'm still waiting on mine from Adorama. A self timer would have been much smarter !
Love the shots! What settings did you use in the dark? My efforts didn’t go as well using ultra max 😅 any exposure compensation?
Thank you! Paul used a mixture of modes - Program (with and without flash) and Moon (with flash). No changes to exposure composition, but maybe worth experimenting with 😁 Let us know how you get on!
can't belive was that easy
Just started with half frame. The added frames makes me much more free as regards experimentation. BTW: half frame used to be used to make film strips. Needed special projectors, I think.
That is one of it's great benefits! More leeway to get that perfect shot 😊
Ah, that's interesting! I did notice the great tonal range and exposure latitude of this film (using it in 4x5, and mostly at ISO 50 with pull development for pinhole photography). Should give it a try with ISO 100. And it is quite affordable (at least here in Germany), somewhere between Fomapan (dirt cheap) and Ilford (reasonably priced for the really good quality).
I'm confused about shooting it at ISO 3 - 5.
Is there a limit to how many entries?
Nope! You’re welcome to submit as many photos as you like 😊
You can have a Bessa L like new with an optic for less than the price of this piece of garbage.
cannot wait to get mine in the post. gonna take so many pics of my lop bunny
Not much happens to black people with ortho film. They just look more glossy or slightly darker. The reason why people use pale individuals for comparison is because it ACTUALLY does something to them, because their skin texture can actually be highlighted, since it's not covered with melanin. It's not because of racism. I can't with you people. Racism does not have to be the culprit of everything. What a dumb take.
Thanks for the information. Do the developed photographs have that border, I’m a bit confused by this? Ty
Hello! Nope this is just for the purpose of the video to make it fit better. But we do offer 'Border Scans' for 120 film or 'Sprocket Scans' for 35mm. Otherwise, images will be scanned as normal with no border.
I wonder if you can clarify the "white moon" setting's aperture. You say it does f/16 to force a slow shutter speed, and I get the logic there. But Pentax describes the mode as "ideal for twilight photography," hence the moon icon. And for twilight photography, f/16 would make no sense. From the manual, I'd assume that this mode simply *allows* slower shutter speed (slower than the 1/30 that the P mode presumably stops at) as needed in low light. The PetaPixel video review seems to have a similar take, saying that this mode uses a f/3.5 aperture. So the question is whether this mode simply *allows* a slower shutter speed (and therefore generally a twilight-friendly large aperture), or if it *forces* a slower shutter speed (and therefore a small aperture). The latter interpretation seems at odds with Pentax' "twilight" wording. (This seems to me an important distinction, since if you're right, the crescent-moon mode is the one to choose for landscapes with foreground detail. If my interpretation and that of PetaPixel is correct, than you'd probably want the Auto mode and its hyperfocal focusing for such shots.) Have you heard anything direct from Pentax for where you got your interpretation? Thanks!
(I'll also note that your graphic onscreen says it's f/16 for Bulb, whereas the Pentax manual specifically says it does f/3.5 for Bulb mode.)
Excellent video 😊!
Thank you very much 🙏
How are the scanning machines coping with half frame scans? Is there much more manual handling required?
Luckily we have a half-frame scanning mask so it's easy for us to do, though some labs do not have the right equipment and will charge extra for half-frame scanning as a result!
Super useful video - thank you very much!
Glad to hear it, thank you!!
Still haven't decided what camera to pack!
What did you take in the end 👀
Can't help wondering... if you take a double exposure do you get a full frame? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
haha folded in half, yes... 😂
Now this made me laugh. Probably shows how old I am, but “pressing the rewind button for double exposure”, duh!
I know! But many folks are at the start of their journey - and it's never something the manufacturers are going to talk about 🤣
This was exactly what I was thinking would happen! Thanks for confirming this and making this video!
Glad I could help!
I suspected this was the case, but it was good to see it done. This camera is on my list if for nothing else, to support the designer.
You won't regret it, I promise
My initial experience could be better:). I shoot it at 320 in various conditions, and frankly, it could be better. When you shoot the film at 200 do you pull the film during processing or just develop for 320? Thanks for the review!
Great coverage of this new little classic. Perhaps some fujifilm X100 users will be seduced over to analog with this little beauty.
