Wendy's Garden Journey
США
Добавлен 12 авг 2023
I garden in USDA Zone 9b, in the Sacramento Valley. I created this channel to document the changes in my garden and my garden journey. My goal is to contribute to the ecosystem, grow my own food, and have lots of pretty flowers to look upon.
I love to garden, but am not an expert, so this will be a journey of many lessons.

Here’s the deal. I see PW plants on social media all the time and they always look great. So, since they are hard to find in my area, I decided to order a few by mail. I have purchased unbranded verbena, sedum, and calabrachoa in the past and have had moderate success, so I thought I would give these a try. provenwinnersdirect.com USDA garden zone 9b Filmed using and iPhone 15 pro

Thank you Wendy for taking the time to share your experiences for a very informative and eye opening video. Can you please share where you purchases the bird fountain and the manufacturer.
Beautiful garden! I love the half wall dividers ❤
Thank you!
Reminds me that I have a fountain that I need to work on and find out why it’s not working. Thank you for sharing!
I love the new pathway!
Thank you! Me too!
Your garden seems HUGE! Thank you for walking us through and sharing!
I would call it a middle sized garden, but I agree. sometimes it feels like too much to care for.
Thank you for sharing! I too am running into too much shade issue with my garden space as trees around it mature. I think I’m going to end up moving it.
Good Luck. I am nervous about moving them.
So beautiful and calming!
Thank you. I am glad you think so too!
Were the peas tasty?
Yes, they were very good. 😊
Can we go back to those rainy days, please? Everything looks great!
The backyard thermometer peaked at 113 degrees yesterday. I am missing the cool rainy days too.
Proven Winners is a great brand and those look like wonderful choices. Looking forward to seeing where you place them!
Me too. I am curious to see if they do better then some of the other plants I have purchased in the past.
Beautiful looking garden, flowerboxes and containers, they are the bees knees.
Thank you
Get a wet/dry shop AC to empty it.
I always forget that one. Thank you
I love The layout of your garden. It is so beautiful!! With so much planting space, raised beds and beautiful walking paths, your garden has so much potential! I look forward to seeing more garden tours and changes to your garden. 😊😊
Thank you so much!
Perhaps a clematis on the arbor? Beautiful job 💗
I like that idea, but I was under the impression that clematis doesn't like the hot afternoon sun. I recently planted one on the west side of our house, so far it is doing well, but no flowers yet.
The stone pathway is beautiful and adds so much!
thank you. I love it!
Thanks for the tips, And I would just turn the fountain into a large flower pot with trailing flowers or plants.
We can do that if we decide it is too much trouble, but having a fountain was something we really wanted for the garden. So we will keep trying to make it work.😊
🌳fantastic 🌳
Thank you very much

Nice. Isn't Linda Vader there? I really like her channel.
Awesome garden tour. Your garden is beautiful. New subscriber to your channel. Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Thank you
Great info! Thanks for sharing!❤. Also, your rose arbor looks absolutely beautiful! Could you share the source of it too? Thank you!
I ordered it off Amazon and then stained it. I don't see it on Amazon anymore, but did find it on Wayfair (link below). That said, if I were to buy one today, I would probably buy metal and not wood. Good Luck! www.wayfair.com/Vita--Rosewood-Wood-Arbor-VA68894-L7184-K~ZNE1067.html?refid=GX685263775352-ZNE1067&device=c&ptid=345426831824&network=g&targetid=pla-345426831824&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=134770196&fdid=1817&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC4fgzOQRZQpWZAzcCEgOVWLG&gclid=CjwKCAjw57exBhAsEiwAaIxaZjklKcrbxNGsosKe1zZmPHhbfClw7KAT9k17_9vA-tdOVHJDwOC1bBoC6KsQAvD_BwE
❤❤❤great info
Thank you. Glad it was helpful!
❤❤❤❤💕💕💕💕💕👍👍👍
Thank you 😊
Add a cup of peroxide each week for algae.
Oh interesting. I haven't heard that one before. 😊
Great idea, but is it safe for the birds?
@@donnasantamaria8317 yes
Wow.looks amazing❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
It looks beautiful! 😊
Thank you! 😊
First concrete information I’ve found on growing as a hedge, thank you! So you top them every three or four years, that’s not bad in terms of maintenance. What about the sides? And may I ask how far you spaced them to get this effect?
I have to trim the sides up at least once a year or they will get too wide. They were planted about 5 feet apart and are part of the original garden landscape for this house, so they are about 30 years old. Also, I live in California and we don't get a lot of moisture in the summer, so I am not sure if they will grow faster in areas that get more moisture. Good Luck Planting 😊
@@WendysGardenJourney Thanks! I grew in San Diego but will be planting them in the South of France. Same long hot dry summers but a little more rain in the summer. We shall see!
you can use a hose to empty the fountain... just fill the hose with water and let gravity do the work
Thank you, that is a good idea.
What algaecide do you use now? Thanks.
We have used the below brands that are supposed to be bird safe. Got them both via Amazon. They both work, but need to be added several times a week. EasyCare FounTec Algaecide and Clarifier MICROBE-LIFT ALGA08 Algaway 5.4 Algae Control Treatment for Ponds and Water Gardens, Safe for Koi Fish, Goldfish, Plants, and Decorations
They are pretty but a real pain.
But so pretty 😊
What a lovely Garden Like 7 My friend thank you for good sharing 😊 Have a great Spring
Thank you, you too!🌺
Remove the fountain, dig a deep pit, install plastic tank 24 to 36 inches deep 48 inch diameter tank open on top, dig the pit to the same depth of the tank . Use expanded metal on top of tank with concrete block in center to support fountain. Place pump in botom of tank with long hose for fountain Place fountain on expanded metal ,cover the rest of the metal with rock. Fill with water , if algae forms use chlorine tablets to subdue. Don't over use the chlorine birds can still drink the water.
Nice idea 😊
Good information!! All good points to think about. All solvable issues. Algae will always have to be dealt with. Just takes money and time, and depends on how much you desire a fountain. Beautiful fountain. I hope you keep it going, and don't fill it with dirt and plants. Thanks for sharing!
We love the fountain, we just don't get to run it year round.
That’s a bummer that the fountain never worked out. But thanks for the tip.
It just didn't turn out like I expected. That said, it has a wonderful sound and i really enjoy that part of having a fountain.
You're doing a wonderful job 👏🏼
Thank you so much!
This garden is well designed, the beautiful layout and path make the space looks much bigger. great jobs! Subscribed!
Thank you very much!
Could you add a few rain barrels to help with water around your house? You could water your plants and save your landscaping from flooding.
I have considered that but we generally only get a few months of rain, so the cost benefit ratio is relatively small for my area. 😊 It is the clay that keeps the soil from draining. Since I started forking a couple years ago, the soil drains much better than it used to drain.
Looking promissing wendy❤
It is a labor of love.😊
Lynne here from Canada. I love your garden and look forward to more videos . thank you

Evergreens are beautiful!
Thank you! I hope to add more evergreen winter interest over the next year.
Wow, I love pineapple guava. So many childhood memories. It looks great. I was unaware it grew in bush form.
I have seen them in tree form too and was thinking about trying to trim them into a multi-trunk style. But for now they are just large bushes.🙂
Ohh wow.never seen this fruit before.or eat it.butbi love gauva and pinaaplle
I know a lot of people who really enjoy them 😊
Great video 👏🏼 😊
Thank you!! 😊
❤❤❤
Thank you, I think I enjoy the fall almost as much as spring. 😊
Wow,thats a nice raised bed..ya the the traditional echinecia is like a bush for me.😊
Thank you 😊 That is what I wondered. I didn't realize echinacea got so big. My fault for not looking closer at the package. 🌸🌸
What a great update 😊
