Exploring a NEW POND!!! (WAIT UNTIL THE END!)
He's so handsome 😍
Very good video. Its been years now. Hows it holding up?
It’s hard to catch fish there imo
Agreed 👍
Looks good man, EZ build works fine i guess? wd
I can’t find a PWM for a brushless trolling motor
I love tour setup, i may build onw on my lifetime tamarack angler. Why did tou mount the stwering triangle ao far up on the motor shaft ? It seems like it would be better lower down, but maybe im missing something. Thanks!
Omg the black n yellows! Literally what my yak looks like right now cause Amazon just came by! 😂
Ok. Rear mount vs side mount. Is the extra steering install and PWM worth the effort, extra holes in the yak? Stability should be good enough unless you need to zoom on the ocean. I’ve owned a Hobie which I installed a motor in the hull. I know the advantage of a motor and peddle drives. Not a fan of always using paddles. That’s old school! Much simpler side mount install utilizing the rod holders behind the seat on my Tamarack pro.
Interesting . I have a Hobie and your steering system somewhat mimics it. The taughtness is important to completely control. Even the Hobie needs adjustment every so often
Excellent vid. Is the PWM necessary with Newport 35 thrust? I just purchased it. Can’t you control power from the handle? I guess not…too bad if true
Great job.
What rods do you use I think I seen a ugly stick in there somewhere
I'm glad I came across your channel, brother! I have the same kayak and after a recent fishing trip with my wife and son I got really interested in adding a motor to my yak. Since my son is new and my wife can't handle paddling, I end up tethering kayaks to mine and pulling em. I love them dearly, but paddling for other kayaks limits how far we can go and how fast. I've been planning on adding a motor to help give my arms a rest without getting dragged back out by the wind a current while pulling them. Seeing this process done on my exact kayak has given me a lot more confidence and direction on the parts list. Fantastic video! Appreciate you taking the time to film this and put it up. 100% sub from me!
As a bouncer at a highly famous GAY club…. If you had any idea how “POPULAR” those bass pro hats are within the “community”……. 😂😂💀👍
So, what is difference in price and price "point"?
This is a fantastic DIY build! Thanks! I just finished a DIY wireless trolling motor build video for a transom mount minn kota and might modify my regular Tamarack using some of your tips!
Awesome I would love to see your build. Glad I could help out!
Well, I dislike you and your channel. I was set in my mind that I was NOT going to put on a trolling motor. You went and made some great videos on the topic and have changed my mind! Dang you! Great kayak, thanks for sharing all the info. That motor really scoots you along!
Thank you I appreciate it! Glad I could help! A trolling motor really is a game changer! Reach out if you have any questions! I am currently working on a review video of all upgrades after having a good amount of time on the water. Stay tuned!
Really on the fence about a trolling motor. On one hand, sure is great to have. On the other hand, it is a lot of extra stuff to take. I went from boat to kayak and it was liberating to strip down my tackle. Taking less and fishing with less. What a conundrum. Maybe the hot summer will change my mind. So far this year, we have not had hot weather yet
I’m gonna put out a video on how I transport everything and keep things simple and quick. Stay tuned
I travel a lot with one piece rods in a coupe/hatch I put a bungee cord on the “oh shi” handles and put the tips of the rod thru it and across inbetween back and front seats. Rests in the trunk or back of hatch. Works great in civics and velosters.
You're gonna want to plug the screw holes in that box so that water doesn't sit on top of them and rust away. You could buy plugs, but a dob of Vaseline on the screw and then blutac stuffed into the hole would suffice. You could even take a sharpie to it to make it black 😂
What ever happened to 1 battery and 1 small powered motor. Worked great for yrs in my jon boat
How is the fan going to cool in a sealed box?
Excellent job man. Thanks.
So from what I understand, this would let you go Forward and back only with the setup you have. What about turning left/right? Did I miss that part in your videos or are you relying on paddles for turns?
Check out my other video for the steering system! That would answer your questions
did I miss the wiring part .you talk about parts but not where the wires go
Stay tuned on upcoming review and clarification video
Lookin foward to range of use what trolling motor are you using. Thank you
Whats the total price of everything for this setup excluding battery and trolling motor?
Wiring only?
@@bassmanbobbin yes everything to make it plug and play besides the mentioned items
Thank you for making this video. I'll be building a modified version of your mount for my kayak. The issue I have is that my kayak does not have a perfectly horizontal surface at the ideal location for the mighty mounts. The surface is slightly tilted in just a few degrees. I'll have to use two L brackets on each side to mount the cross bar to.
Good day, I reached all three of my nearest Home Depot and Lowe Centers, and I was unable to secure a square tube@ 1/8 thickness. Did you order online? I really like this trolling motor mount, and I wonder if the cross bar @ 1/16 thickness will be strong enough for my kayak.
Yeah the 1/16 should work. My buddy used that thickness and it works great. You may or may not need to add a support depending on stability but it should work just fine
What size create is that ? Thanks , and nice video.
So what keeps water from going around the switches on the top of the box?
Locktite
Any feedback on your battery? Has it held up during you owning it?
Battery is awesome! It easily lasts all day. I am making an update video soon
Im wondering how this PWM is working now. I’ve heard they have issues burning out which is the only reason I’m considering building an ESC instead. I really like the price of the PWM though!
Never had any issues with it burning out. I’ve ran it all day many times with no issues
Hey man. Statement first, not a fan of the big box. Could you mount that box somewhere else hidden and just put a smaller box up by the seat for the switches?Just feel like that would be a cleaner look.
Yeah you could mount them directly in the yak if you want but I just didn’t want to cut into the yak more than needed.
Nice setup! I’m using this for my lifetime. I had something similar but yours is better and lil more simple than mine! I subbed! 💪🏾💪🏾
Awesome! Thank you! 🙏
Had this kayak for about 2 yrs. I live in florida and fish the intercoastal, there is always waves and current. I have flipped it oncce, standing up not paying attention and took a wave broadside. Longer stiffer paddle a must. You also donot have suppers, they are a big need for me. I dont carry a crate because i have a water proof hatch in the back where i store my fish inside the kayak, not bass fishing so my fish are between 2 to 3 foot long. But hey to each his own.
Good job!
Thanks! Appreciate it!
fan in a waterproof /sealed box is worthless
I agree. A fan inside a sealed box of that size will have little to no effect
It will circulate the air inside the box. The hot air away from the hot components will give off its heat into other components and into the external box (which subsequently dissipates), while cooler air gets moved into the hot components to cool them down. Linustechtips did a test of a computer stuffed with clothing and blankets, as close as you could get without halting the fans and it still worked well enough to not overheat. I will say though, that a pwm with a fan obviously generates enough heat to warrant a fan, so a little thermometer installed into the lid of the box would be handy to know what's going on (ambient operating temperatures are probably in the manual. One that would go on a BBQ hood would suffice, though you could get one designed to show both internal and external temps using a probe, and then just hang the probe in the box. Probably about the same price, and you get to complain about how hot or cold it is while out on the water LOL
Excellent video!
How do you tilt the motor. If you get in shallow water
This is how I did it: STEERING Setup for KAYAK Trolling Motor (How To) - on the water testing ruclips.net/video/ApeaH8iFFWQ/видео.html This is how my buddy did it: ruclips.net/video/ncCcZhWkVQE/видео.htmlsi=CAfaePwrzscJOUK2
I use the same pwm controller you're using I left the head on my Minn kota and just use the wires for the battery hookup to the pwm am I trolling motor won't run am I doing something wrong
Make sure the correct wires are used, the terminals match with the correct wires from the battery and trolling motor. Here is a good reference video: ruclips.net/video/NdA61Oh1OiM/видео.htmlsi=GaAZEmWXsPBdeLLU
@@bassmanbobbin thanks working now
How hot does that box get, any cooling louvers necessary? I realize it would compromise waterproofing but does it need to cool?
The built in fan helps keep it cool. I have ran it all day many times with no issues or signs of overheating
Great idea, but am interested to see if you change to the foot pedals after fishing for a while. I had an original tiller system that took my hands away from fishing. After connecting up to my foot pedals, it was so much easier to cast, retrieve, etc. while my feet did the steering stuff.
Yeah I looked a lot into the foot steering and thought about doing that. Might do it in the future but I wanted to keep the pedals for now. Didn’t want to mess with too much. Definitely a possibility though 👍
I assume you did not need to secure the back of your mount to your kayak? Thanks
No, no need to. The weight of the motor keeps it solid and as long as the rest of the mount was solid there was no need. That thing is solid and doesn’t move out on the water 👍
How did you secure your battery box to your kayak? Thanks
Dude..well done. You gave me a bunch of ideas
Glad I could help!
Very nice work, really well done, big thumbs up. I finally have time to fit my feelfree kayak with a motor. May I ask what pwm controller you used? I'm not sure if there is a difference between 10A, 20A, 60A or 100A. Can you advise which one to choose? Thank you very much for your answer.
a.co/d/1iDy96x This is the one I used. Thank you I really appreciate it 🙏
I’m looking at getting my son who is turning 14 this for his birthday. Great review!
Lol my son will also be turning 14 and I will be getting him this yak. I already have one and absolutely love it. Light weight, stable, great for fshing and kayak camping.
Saw one on marketplace, is it good for inshore fishing?
How many speeds does this control? I want to do this with my Newport 55lb that has 5 forward and 3 reverse speeds and wondered if this pnw would work
The pwm has a reverse and and forward switch. It also has a dial so you can choose what power you want 0-100%
I notice that you didn't vent the box(?) Any issues with over heating?
Nope haven’t had any and I have ran it all day many times in the heat
