Anest Iwata w-400 unboxing, review and test doing spot repair on Suzuki Boulevard gas tank #wetpaint
Good video, just wondering why you didn't make the Nov in one piece instead of all the pieces.... that's just more welds on inside from the outside that you can do nothing about.... I'm about to do this same repair. I'm going to try to video it. Hopefully.
@bigoldavey used this method for over 15 years and they are still going strong. Never had an issue ever.
What is the name of the undercoating you used with a paint brush?
i want to know exactly where the water is coming in from. fixing the pan and not fixing the root cause will just repeat itself.
I thought adhesion promoter was only used on raw plastic ?
@@daneloucks1274 it can be used for alot of stuff
Is the bulldog flexible bumper paint stripper ok to use on polyurethane?
I am not familiar with that product. Sorry
I have a 72 GS and will be doing a lot of this same work unfortunately. Would you share where you got your replacement panels from?
Haha, just read the comments and got my answer. Thanks tho
@@danielbuckner2167 anything you need just hollar
Is regular primer considered a sealer or is it different?🙏🏽
The sealer we use is also a 2k primer, you can thin it 20% with reducer to make a sealer. So yes some primers are sealers also, but not all. A sealer is more thin so it lays out flat with little to no dusting or orange peel so your basecoat will lay out slicker.
Do they sell a sealer in a spray can? I’m doing rain guards, and a spoiler kit. I’m in the scuffing stage. I was going to put adhesion promoter, then use a 2K primer I have in a spray can? Is that sufficient, or do I need some kind of sealer?
2k primer will work if it's smooth enough, out of a can it should be fine
@@bpbrestorations2093 Thanks👍
I have a question this is now my second car I’ve had to have panels replaced and painted from an accident. I had them both repaired at caliber collision, not sure if your familiar with them but they get there panels and bumpers from a place called Keystone. Both times I’ve had to have them repainted because of the paint just peeling off. They always want to blame it on keystone. Don’t you think they would know how to prep those parts properly like you do or do you think they’re just taking short cuts. They’re supposed to be professionals and do it right the first time I would think.
Definitely not a keystone problem. Peeling paint 99% of the time is improper prep or didn't clean well enough prior to paint/sealer. Or not following the TDS sheets and letting their sealer set to long before they put on their basecoat on.
USED BUMPERS OR NEW ONE ARE EASY TO PAINT PRIUS?
Used ones if the paint is good, u can just scuff and shoot. New ones need the extra sealer and material
Good video, Im getting ready to do this on my 94 chevy. Very informative and you take the time to explain things. thank you.
My pleasure
Great video. Would love to see the finish product. I do have a question. I used the upol 3253 primer.. and I was told that it’s a direct to metal primer. So when I follow people’s videos it is kind of hard because type all use epoxy primer first and then the 2k primer before sealer or paint.. when I’m sanding I hit metal instead of epoxy primer. I was also told that you cant put body filler over the upol primer so do I have to sand those spots back down to bare metal in order to use body filler
You can use a skim coat over the primer if it is prepped properly with 80/180 grit, and then reprime with the 2253
Also the final video on the impala is on the channel
235/50/18 on 7.5"x 18" rim 49 offset. no rub on stock Element LX
What would work like this coat from a shop?
$90 an hour plus $35 an hour material bill, for total of $125.
How many coats of epoxy primer did you use?
2
do you have a link for that flange, for the q.panel
Astro 605ST ONYX Straight Type Punch/Flange Tool a.co/d/2aCZsbo
Great job with this video! How do those chrome bezel come off the bumper? I have a black CRV and they stand out. I want to remove and paint them black. Thanks for any help! Robert
He said if you want to hate on me, I like that too. Tell your enemies. Loved it. Nice job.
Will you change out that brace the wheelhouse? The quarter panel brace, or do you have to have it in there when you change the fender out if you could let me know, thank you
You mean surfacer or a sealer!
I spent the same money and used truck bed coating on the underside of mine… seems to be a little tougher than the stuff designed for frames and undercarriages
Yes, you definately need to scuff them up good, and clean ALL contaminants off them.
Excellent job
Thank you very much!
Unfortunately without replacement of the inner fender you're working in vein.
The repair is nearly 5 years old now and still looks amazing and do work for this fella regularly. The correct way to do this is a full bed side and inner fender but not everyone has $4-$6k for that job. So we improvise, save money and our customers love us. Thanks tho
My very first bumper never looked this bad. And I did it with the little purple mini harbor freight gun😮...tisk, tisk, tisk...
Chill out and detail something ho
I thought after you spray epoxy sealer primer,,,your suppose not spray the base coat for 30 days to let all the chemicals in the primer disapate.
Each product is different be sure to check TDS sheets for the brand you are using
Looks awesome .you have a video of what parts you use motor mounts .and lines for ps pump etc thank you
Not sure about what all we videod it has been a minute. I know most parts came from brphotrods.com
Intake came from Amazon
Do you have a new video with new intake on
I don't think so, however on our Facebook page we do have pics of the completed build. Buckner Paint & Body
What do ypu suggest for guys who haven't got spray guns to apply that sealant ???
A local paint supply store can mix it up in aerosol cans for you
Do I need to remove the front bumper if I’m only replacing the grill?
You will have to remove 90% of the bumper
Hi I want to know where to go and put on front bumper led lights
What company made the back panel
I cNt remember the company off hand but they came from ebay
Can't beat Iwatas. I really like the LPH400 especially for clear. I lays it down slick effortlessly. And very low overspray. Good for DIY and good for begginers because of how easy it sprays. It will make you look like a pro😁 In the end its all about experience, prep, and knowing your materials and conditions. Any gun can spray well if you know how to use it. Very nice work and info👍
@bpb restorations does the front emblem come off with heat? Does Honda sell fog lights?
No and idk
Are you able to provide instructions to remove grill only?
You have to remove 99% of the bumper to get the grill off. The bumper just don't have to be completely taken off but almost all clips and screws need to be removed just like in this video
I'm a day late on this, just painted my new pre primed bumper and the paint slid off on 1 area. Now I gotta order more paint and sand it off. Mother #ucker.
Sorry this happened to you.
@@bpbrestorations2093 today I sanded back the affected area and applied quality primer and base coated the whole bumper again. Clear coated to finish (slight orange peel but I'm not a pro yet and went for the factory look lol that's what I tell myself anyway) and happy with my result. I also used a heat gun between coats to ensure warm surface and flash off was quicker before any runs could propagate. I think the combo of temp and a poorly primed surface created a surface which didn't adhere well and I over compensated to try and get the coverage even on a cool day.
Off subject, But any idea what the 'L' style brackets are for on the cab/frame mounts? Trying to figure out why GM put those on those theirs trucks of that era.
I'm not sure
Awesome job, I'm doing one the same color. Where did you find the paint?
Kokomo auto supply in Kokomo, Indiana mixed it up for me.
Can your shop repair my 91 convertible fox
Yes give us a call Monday thru Friday 9 a to 5p 7654803185
How much would a job like this cost?
If it comes to us as a roller roughly 4500 for the complete job, if we have to pull engine and trans it's roughly 5800-6000
Should you have taken the foam out so it would'nt hold water again and rust out again?
The undercoating on the bottom side of the toe boards on my ‘55 Chevy is at LEAST a 1/4” thick. Fortunately all the floors were replaced by a previous owner who never got around to undercoating the new sheet metal.
Ima be painting in 55-60 degrees weather in the morning that’s the time of my class u think I’ll be good ?

this video series is awesome. I have a 1995 k2500 that I'm doing rust removal on in the same spots. I bought all the panels but haven't had the guts to start. these videos give me confidence to finally start on it. thanks
