My Name is Kobe Prior. I am currently studying at Colorado School of Mines in pursuit of a degree in Electrical Engineering. On this channel I hope to provide a resource for future students learning difficult math topics. I want to share my knowledge of these topics in a concise and informal way to help people gain intuition for difficult concepts. It is a shame that a lot of knowledge about advanced math and physics is locked behind a paywall. I will be teaching concepts as I am learning them. I hope to cover lots of SAT/ACT math questions as well as upper division math classes such as Calculus I, II, III, Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Physics 100 (mechanics) and 200 (electromagnetism).
Maximum Power Transfer Resistor Circuit
In this video, we discuss how we can load a circuit with a resistor that draws the maximum possible power. With some math, we can show that the resistor that draws the most power is a resistor equal to the Thevenin resistance. So by calculating the Thevenin resistance we can have the resistor that draws the most power. The next step is to find the maximum power which is Thevenin voltage squared divided by 4 times the Thevenin resistance. An additional calculation asked in this question was to find the percentage of power delivered by the source consumed by the load resistor Best, KobeTutors.

How to Find the Thevenin Equivalent Circuit with only Independent Sources
Просмотров 64Месяц назад
In this video, I show you how you can calculate the open circuit voltage otherwise known as the Thevenin voltage as well as the Thevenin resistance to find the Thevenin equivalent circuit. In this case, we only have independent sources so finding the Thevenin resistance is as simple as disabling the sources, e.g. voltage sources become short circuits and current sources become open circuits, an...
Solving for Coefficients of Generalized Fourier Series with Legendre Polynomials

By utilizing the orthogonality of Legendre polynomials and clever u substitution we can apply an initial condition to find the answer u(r, theta). The boundary conditions essentially select the polynomial solutions. Best, KobeTutors.
Step by Step 2D Laplace (sorta) Equation on a Square Domain
Просмотров 282 месяца назад
In the following video, I describe how you can solve the partial differential equation Laplacian u = 16u on a square domain with a lot of homogenous boundary conditions. The idea is to solve the ODE with the most homogenous boundary conditions related to it. Then using the information from that ODE solve for the other one. Superposing solutions and using the final boundary condition we can solv...
What is the integral of cos^3x
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.2 месяца назад
In the following video, I give a step-by-step process for computing the indefinite integral of cos^3x. It involves using a trigonometric identity; specifically, the Pythagorean identity that states sin^2(x) cos^2(x) = 1. Then a clever u substitution allows us to reduce the integral into a polynomial which we should be very comfortable integrating using the inverse power rule. I hope this video ...

How to find the factor
Think of lambda like x and do it like algebra back in the day. What two numbers multiply to 18 that add to negative 11. -9 times -2 is 18 and -9+-2=-11✅
Damn, I never even thought of using vertex form as a means to solve x. We usually factor or use the quadratic formula now I can be a bit lazy when they want vertex form and the intercepts lol thanks!
👍🏽
Isn't it easier to just memorize the quadratic?
Yeah the quadratic equation is what I fall back on if I can’t factor. I don’t use completing the square unless it’s for certain integrations or Laplace transforms.
Oooooorrrrr you can see that: x² - 4x - 5 = (x - 5) (x + 1) = 0. So x = 5 or -1......
Yes that’s what I would do too.
If we replace negative five with positive five, how can it be solved?
Same way we would just get a complex solution with “i”
@@kobetutors oh , I'll try

Dude Worked Hard Enough😂You couldve just made this cos^3x=1/4(cos3x+3cosx)
Although in this particular case your method might be faster, but his method will work for any odd power of cosx or sinx and is more understable for newbies
@@khmzrun1 Newbies and substitutions? You sane dude?
@@khmzrun1 Also fyi, these substitutions doesnt work for negative powers and also cosx *sinx thingies, stuffs are more complicated here anyways.
@@psg7327im not familiar with many high school students who have a triple angle formula memorized

I solved it in 10 sec Americans have it in easy mode tbh
Hardest question in SAT:
Why do we subtract from both sides after, wouldn’t it be solved after adding the 19 to either side
P/N is equal to 19-C after our first division. By moving C to the left side it becomes positive and by moving the P/N term to the right we get C = 19-P/N. Adding 19 on both sides doesn't get you any closer to the answer. Since we are trying to express C in terms of the other variables P and N.
Hayaaaaa No need to do all that Just do it this way P = N(19 - C) or P = 19N - NC or NC = 19N - P or C = (19N-P)/N or C = 19 - P/N No need to add or subtract 19 on both sides We indians solve questions like these in grade 6 or something and this was asked in SAT!?
This is too easy . Is this the level of SAT
Instead, type it into desmos and click it. Much faster
That’s true! Thanks

I thought this stuff was real basic because I was taught the concept in elementary but I realized in middle school that it’s a highschool concept. ☠️I am in geometry now and I want to go back to algebra so bad 🙏🙏🙏
I encourage you to try and seek value in math as it will take you very far in life if you become great at it. Good luck with high school.

You have to take the negative reciprocal of the slope to get the slope of a line perpendicular.

Why is sat for toddlers, is everything this easy, if so I’d expect the whole country to get a 1600, what a joke.
The reading comprehension section is usually what gets people. Perfect math is decently common but perfect reading section is not as common.

Here in India this is grade 5 question
That’s cool! How even is the education across the country? Would you say some kids have better opportunities than others depending on their location and their economic standing?
For sure u will get the answer after reviewing JEE ADVANCED, which the higher school students attempts🗿🗿
@@kobetutorsno it is grade five question it's not about cross country
@@kobetutorsHere in Romania this is also sth you learn in grade 5 or earlier. I am shocked that students take SAT at 17-19 and this is on the exam. I chose maths and computer science for my last years of high school but even the easiest maths exam you take at around age 18 when u finish highschool has at least a quadratic equation. Before highschool around 13-14yo we take a standardised test to choose which high schools to go to and this sort of question might pop up there. Also, until 14yo the whole country studies roughly the same curriculum, after that u choose trades humanities or STEM. The next 4y basically prepare you for University.
@@andrada25m46 that sounds like a good system! Go 🇷🇴! Math and computer science is a great path. I wish you the best👍🏽
