    Dead Head miles are not FREE! They will eat up your profits BIG TIME! The before and after DH miles will make you Not Profitable. Too many Brokers take their 25% and want you to run for less than $ 1.50 per Mile! And then they woke up!!! The CHEAP CRAP rates has put a lot of Trucking Companies out of Business! It's a race to the bottom as the Cost of everything continues to go up! WAKE UP PEOPLE, WE are in a Depression Economy thanks to BIDO, and the Asshole DEMOCRAPS! Trump has some good ideas to turn things around, but it's going to take Years to undo the damage to our Economy!

    So I have my Class A CDL, but I plan on running a non CDL set up. Can you explain if I have any benefits with having my CDL or would it be like not having it? Appreciate any feedback brother. Love you videos and all the information you put out there! Thanks again.

    Driving is a very stressful job on your body. Sitting 3/4 of the time. Your legs and back aren’t being used much. This is more than likely the reason why you are short of breath and it wears you down easier than it used too.

    I was an Owner Operator for 20 yrs. Sold everything and drove Company truck my last 5 yrs before retiring after 44 yrs of Trucking. Bless you my friend as I would not move freight for 1.20 per mile. Even if it gets me back home. That Low Rate plus uncounted DH miles will eventually Bankrupt many guys! Parts,Tires and Oil Changes continue to increase. Nobody can continue to run and be profitable at these Garbage can rates going lower. It is a race to the bottom as JB Hunt use to say! How do you pay your House Bills? The 2 worst 4 letter words in trucking are "BACK HAUL"! Brokers know people will take those Garbage can loads just to get home. They think you should be able to run for 50% less!!! This Insanity is the Main reason Trucking companies are going Belly up every week! When I had my Semi-truck, I had to know what my CPM was. If you don't know then you end up running for peanuts Losing money while Dispatchers and Freight companies make a profit! My motto became "If it doesn't profit me, Don't turn the key!!!" NO CHEAP FREIGHT!

    Hey bud what do you average in a week after fuel food and if you stop at a hotel for the night what do you clear after expenses and taxes what's your average take home after everything is all said and done

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots Месяц назад

      It’s really hard to throw a number at you because I have other income due to another truck leased on as well as income from RUclips. Also, everyone spends different on fuel (type of setup and fuel prices depending on where you haul), how you eat, I never have stayed at a hotel I think it’s an expensive and unnecessary thing, and taxes will be different depending on how much you know to get around certain things to pay much less. Sorry I wish I could help more with that.

    Looking to sign on with you in January or February. Just got a nice 2020 big tex 25 plus 5 with mega ramps and put brand new 14 ply tires and brand new trailer brakes on this weekend, I live north of Seattle, 57 years old and have been towing and hauling heavy equipment for many years. Retiring from commercial masonry and going to hotshot, getting cdl and bigger setup maby next summer, any input for good people to try to sign on with would be appreciated if your not taking on anyone, thanks

      A heck of a lot better than the first one. Even the tires are significantly better, and these are 14ply and the others were 16ply. Having slight brake problems but other than that it’s a great trailer.

    How often do I have to stop at a weigh station? Do I have to weigh when I’m empty? Just once every time I get a load or partial? Once every state?

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots Месяц назад

      Anytime a weigh station is open (unless the sign tells you to bypass) you have to go through whether you have a load on or are empty. You usually don’t have to go over the scale itself when you’re empty, just follow the arrows and signs and they will let you know. Even if you just went through an open weigh station 5 miles prior, if it’s open and they don’t bypass you, you have to go through. This is the same for any state you go through.

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots

      I’ve had 2 level one inspections in California and been just fine. I’m in California more than anywhere else for the most part. You just need to be careful how much you want to put on your trailer, it seems they look closer when you’re maxed out.

    How much does your trailer weigh and what is the empty tongue weight? Is this RAM 2500 or 3500? If 3500, you don't want to install a slim diesel tank so that you don't have to refuel diesel at California prices?

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots 2 месяца назад

      Anybody running freight for hire has to have an ELD now and log hours. Same goes for weigh stations, we are under all the same regulations and laws as anyone else. I have an ELD in my truck and have gone through multiple level one inspections. I think it was about 3-4 years ago that they changed it.

    Nice seeing videos again. Love the 'on the road' shots, since it's all places I used to travel. Miss the Siskiyou shots, but it's all good (edit* I gotta remember to comment after the video, not during). Just out of curiosity, on an unrelated topic, I would think the time off when the truck was down would have been a good time to get the CDL. Would you say the CDL more of a bonus than a necessity in hotshot?

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots 2 месяца назад

      It just depends on someone’s situation I guess. I could definitely use a CDL and I’d prefer it, but I couldn’t afford it while also paying for everything while being down, it was just too much. I definitely thought about it.

    I’m from Northern California and I’m looking into getting into this field. I’ve been watching a lot of RUclips videos and it seems kinda confusing and a lot to start out to get trucking. I’m about a hour north of Sacramento and was thinking about going down to the ports in the Bay Area and southern California to haul containers. Have you ever hauled out of those area?

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots 2 месяца назад

      Ya we’ve run containers out of Oakland and Long Beach. They generally don’t pay enough for the extra fuel it takes, but if you can get $3 a mile or close to it for them then I’d say it’s worth it. Are you thinking about just getting a Cali # and running intrastate, or will you get an MC to run interstate?

      It’s a 35+5 LoneStar with 7k axles and 14ply tires. I prefer 8k axles with 16ply, but what I have is plenty for the weight I put on the trailer.

  • @ChrisJohnson-x3p
    @ChrisJohnson-x3p 2 месяца назад

    Nice load👍. I'd be curious to see how you secured it with chains and binders...I paused the vid but couldn't see the hook up points looks like bungie cords coming through the rims?

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots 2 месяца назад

      It’s secured to the axle, especially on something bigger and a bit top heavy, I don’t use tire straps on these. The bungees are just holding the excess chain tight so they don’t come loose.
