Very nice! I actually dusted off my k200d and found out why i left it a few years ago. It really struggles with blown out highlights. Shooting against a bright sky (white clouds or sunny patch) blows everything out. I a/b'd with my lumix lx10 and that doesn't have any trouble at all. Colours are spectacular though, going through my old photos. I'm actually debating on getting a KF.

Thank you for this great video, and for being to the point. There are many videos out there that are 20 30-40 minutes. It only really give you a small snippet of what should be the equivalent of what your video is. Great value information, straight to the point. Not too long. Not too short. Just right. In my opinion, you weren't a sub today

I have the 950 model, and it has a TIFF uncompressed mode (I used it for scan some negatives with the slides adapter) the 990 hasn’t the possibility of taking TIFF photos?

I've had my mint condition Canon Pro1 now for a while, and to be honest I love using it, I'm a landscape (mainly) and macro photographer. The results I get from the Pro 1 just take my breath away. Once you get used to the quirkiness of this one of a kind Canon camera, blessed with an L series lens, you too will get attached to it. If you can find one that is, prices are climbing up, but to be honest, what ever the cost, it's worth it.

If I attach the medium lenght of tripod mount at bottom of the camera will it hold the battery door after latch broken?

I have the 17mm prime and it is my favorite! Very hard to find.

I have just recently bought a K200D plus a 18-55mm WR lens for not a lot of money. The camera has just over 4000 actuations and the photos from it are beautiful, the colours are amazing

The recent popularity of these as collector cameras kinda ruins these for me. The appeal for me isn't the quality of what it can do - its the novelty and the current going prices are too much given the more functional alternatives. I already have a RX100 4 - that has a sharper lens, wider zoom range, faster aperture (even against the NX mini's prime lenses) and it has a viewfinder to boot.

I bought a new K200D in August 2008. Still have it, still use it. Rugged, simple controls and excellent images. I have been using Pentax since 1973. Have a number if screw mount bodies that I no longer use. But I also have a number of screw mount lenses that I still use. Before the K200D I had a K110D, after the K200D I got a K50 then a K70. I use the K70 mostly but I like to use the other cameras as well. None of them disappoint when it comes to final image quality.

Looking for my first Pentax, might suggest the Olympus E-500 also a ccd sensor.

I recently pulled out this camera from the drawer and was surprised of quality of some photos. Not every shoot shines but with good light some photos are really nice.

nice little review of the Pentax DSLR (and Pentax in general) cameras and lenses etc ... not only old Pentax lenses of any mount can still be used on the most recent Pentax DSLR bodies (via adapters) but also since the M42 and K-mount standards were used by quite a number of other camera makers (Ricoh, Chinon, Kyocera to name but a few) as well, the number of lenses and accessories available for the latest Pentax digital cameras is so large the average Pentax user would be spoiled for choice! 🙂and it's not just the 135 format lenses, but also the 645 and 67 format lenses too! and believe it or not, some old Pentax Takumar lenses for example, have lovers among other platforms such as Canon digital camera users as well ... they use them professionally in the video movie industry for example ... to be fair though, Pentax is not the only underrated camera make ... there are at least a few other ones that are now considered dead in the digital camera market ...

I have the coolpix 990, and for about two weeks now I have been buying and returning compact flash cards because they are either too new or too big, do you recommend any brands to buy for the camera?

Ive been shooting Pentax for nearly 50 years. My first was the MEsuper. My current is the K70.

Thank you for bribging up this camera even in 2020. The camera is worthy of others attention given its compact, practical and fun to use. I actually own 9mm and the 17mm and they are both spectacular in their own means. 9mm is compact and act like lens cap, while 17mm is sharp edge to edge wide opens. Instead of using one body, I now own 2x nx minis so i dont need to switch lens but carry at all. Sadly, the 9-27 is built poorly and was broke long ago.

have u tried it for astrophotography? the ccd censors at least have some reputation for it ..(subs😊

Macchina fantastica e file reali come solo il ccd sa dare , peccato che non si sa mai se il sensore si brucia o no e leica dal 2015 non le ripara più . Finchè scatta me la godo dopo si vedrà ..

My first DSLR was a new Pentax K10D. It was the more advanced Pentax camera in the same era as the K200D. 10MP CCD sensor, dual wheels and other more advanced features. I still use it from time to time. My main camera is the Pentax K-5II. Great camera. I use the M42 adapter with it so I can use my collection of vintage Takumar lenses.

Actually the last Pentax DSLR to have a CCD sensor was the 645D, don't forget it is still a DSLR, just a big one ;).

If u are really a enthusiast that is willing to put in a lot of effort to get the best quality magic lantern is the way to go. It's a firmware hack that is by far not a perfect stable OEM software but it it will give you really crisp results.

fun fact: it could shoot raw DNG via a painful diagnostic mode. Those files had very funky colors though which needed to be fixed in photoshop using the hue/saturation option

I had a canon A1 film camera for many years, and when looking at the lens options the L series were eye wateringly expensive and usually only bought by professionals. When I started looking for a decent digital camera for my sailing trip to the Med I stumbled across this and wow! it had that L series lens, so a snapped it up. Years later and after hundreds of pictures it works like new and that lens has proved itself against more modern competition. The colours and definition exceed anything I have used before. The meagre 8 megapixels is no hindrance. I view the pictures on my 32 inch TV and the quality is spectacular. The functions give an unlimited amount of control and the flip screen is invaluable. But oh how I hate that electronic viewfinder!!

5D Mark II is an amazing camera even today if one knows how to control it, it's all about the driver not the car that moves it properly. I'd invite you to take the photography classes perhaps to better grasp the intrensic workings of the camera rather than relying on the modern automatic easy features that won't be using 80% of the time. If you know how to use the tool then you're golden.

Just ordered one with the Pentax m42 adapter focusing to infinity, Pentax Magnifying Eyecup O-ME53. All weather body is very appealing with the CCD sensor. Looking forward to using it.

It was a fantastic form factor for candid shots... also it was built so well nothing later can compare ))) I purchased one in early 2001... was Canadian $1000 !!

I still think those photos look great, even by todays standards! I worked at Best Buy in 99 when this camera first came out. I wanted one so badly. But they were a little too expensive for me when I was a kid lol
