Daughters Wood Co

Добавлен 5 май 2020
Hi! Welcome to my workshop!
I'm fascinated by hand tool woodworking and over the last year I've slowly started collecting, building, and learning how to work with these tools.
I'm often inspired by watching other woodworkers and enjoy seeing the different ways they go about doing something. I want to join them in filming my process as I continue to learn, make my own tools, and explore the wonderful world of woodworking.
Please like, comment, subscribe, and let me know what you'd like to see me make next!

I made my drill press station better by adding a table and drawer
I've been wanting to add a drill press table and fence to my drill press for awhile and I finally got around to do it. While I was at it, I decided to add a drawer under my drill press table to store all the dress press things. As this was a shop project and I didn't want to spend too much time on it I just winged it and made everything up as I went along.
I really did this because I recently got the Kreg ACS and needed a project to try out using it. As someone who doesn't own a table saw, the ACS is such a nice luxury to have. I'm a big fan so far and really looking forward to using it in more of my furniture making!

This video is a low-detail straight forward guide on how to sharpen a hand plane and I guarantee it will teach you how to get a plane iron sharp enough to take plane shavings. I know a lot of videos on RUclips focus on getting the sharpest plane iron possible and I think those are great and I have learned a lot from them, but if you are just starting out I think those videos can be a little ove...

My FAVORITE Shop Upgrade...Mini Tabletop Workbench

If you do any hand tool work in your shop then I would highly suggest building a tabletop workbench. I was hesitant to take the time to build mine because I didn't think I'd really use it all that much, but boy was I wrong. I'm working on a small jewelry box and have found so many opportunities to use this workbench. One of the biggest advantages is that it brings the work closer to me so that ...

My most complicated project so far...making a wooden puzzle box!
Very helpful. I think the Seller's would be more practical longer and wider. Though a dedicated 45 might be the best option of all. The adjustable might be too fiddly. Cosman and Sellers hybrid?
Brilliant idea and tutorial , just earned you a new sub
It’s good but must be very limited to thin stock because the track the saw is on has lost you say 1cm of cutting depth and your not going to get material with any thickness under the track.. IMO
Nice job, a credit to you.
Thanks for the nice, clear explanation! I made this jig for my baby Makita (100mm/3.5"), after investing in a half sheet of 7 mm ply and a combination square (a wonderful invention that I had never previously heard of). I'm using the jig to cut out pieces of 6mm ply for drawers and shelves for my van build - and the drawers in particular need to be perfectly square and straight - something that was beyond my skill level until now. I did run into one big problem, however. Having a gap between the saw and the workpiece results in massive tear-out. I managed this by using some old pieces of thin scrap wood to wedge between the track and the workpiece, and as long as I do this, I get beautiful clean, straight cuts, nicely square. But am I missing something? Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, how to deal with it?
Perfect. Great job!!!
After a weekend project I just did I felt like I was missing something which would of helped out a ton. You sir, just helped me determine what that was. The Combination square, and this sled. Be building my sled in the near future.
Really nice
Clever. Tk u
Que design show
A very nice build. I love the use of shooting boards.
Nice jig! And thank you for explaining so clearly each step of what you are doing.
Wow that's great bro
Should have been "I *wanted* to build a grooving plane" :P Still, excellent tool, awesome results!
story is about delays that save time, few will recognize these irl
Way better than a SawStop
I would apply wax to the base of that jig so that the saw cuts better, nice jig 🎉
No matter what wood, what grain direction, how big or small, I've found that inlays will always ever so slightly warp the winding sticks around it after a few seasons. This is one place where the lines are just better off painted on.
I've tried tracks like the Kreg Accu Cut and lining up and using a straight edge. The Accucut belongs in the trash, and constantly lining up a straight edge and checking for square is just a pain in the arse. Cross cut sleds for a table saw are never long enough for crosscutting cabinet sizes. THIS IS IT! I'm making this for sure!
How about bevels
Definitely the drawer fronts painted, IMHO. I personally love the color, and it keeps the slightly mismatched wood tones completely unnoticeable. Also lots of practical advice and important points so others can learn from things you would have done differently.
And that's not coming back, it's out of the park! Great job! Love the choice of walnut, I believe for the tool holders. Classic and timeless.
What a beautiful testimony to your father. It is evident that he was and is a huge influence in your life. A man that led by example and with love. Those lessons will never leave you. The love he has invested in you will always be the greatest gift you will ever receive from him. I hope to see that Stanley # 3 appear in more videos, because I am sure that your legacy in video and furniture will be passed down through your family someday, like that great tool was passed to you. Many blessings to you and your entire family!
A beautiful bench and beautiful craftsmanship
show
Nicely done!! I haven't seen any videos with an explanation so simple and thorough!!
Whether it's a 2"x2" box or 8"x5", no one, unless you've done it, has any idea what it takes to make 8 45deg cuts to form 4 90deg corners.
Yeah, good idea and I made it following your guidance however the test piece when cut on all 4 edges is not square or parallel. Any good advice?
First thing lose all your ryobi tools😂
Someone, please bring a router into the chat.
Tri-squares are not a reliable 90 degree source.
Not sure about putting on finish before the glue.
Whoa, sharp tools never dissapoint, great work man
Dude! Such a great piece. Great work and I really like your way of thinking!
Verry nice! I liked how you only used basic hand tools.
Very good idea, thanks!!!!!
Superb video : I’ll be making one asap thanks
cool
Thank you, thank you, thank you for a practical guide on how to sharpen one of these. I'm a hobby wood worker/crafter and just needed straight-forward info. I picked up a vintage planer that is in mostly good shape and just needs a little refining and was reverting into fetal rocking by the multitude of overwhelming information out here -- interesting, but not of use for my purpose. Man. I also ordered the sharpening tools you recommended. Thanks. (again :) )
Thank out very useful. As I am not speak english person can you tel me the me asure os the rabbet plane? Thank you in advance
Nicely done. I might make one for myself.
I'm a veteran DIYer who loves hand tools. It took me years to come to grips with sharpening. I blame my slow progress on not having good YT videos like yours. Nice job.
I really enjoy the history of the Shakers. Visiting a few of their settlements in Ky, Mass, New Hampshire and NY , I learned to appreciate their life values. I ran across plans for a piece similar to yours. I think of all the pieces of furniture and boxes I have built this wall shelf has been my favorite. We have two in our home and I built a few others for friends. I used walnut with an oil varnish finish. I wish I had enough life ahead of me convert one room in my house to honor the Shakers. But, the sun is setting. Really nice video.
Beautiful work, dude! Really well done! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Love this build. As a shorty I need this. New subbie from Ireland.
Nice video ... great jig. Think I'll be making me one of those!
easily my favorite project from you so far. There's something so wonderful seeing you square up those construction timber. Really motivates me to want to practice more since its so inexpensive vs hardwood i keep thinking i need
Pan head screws won't cause a divot and make a 3/16 thick setting hard to set. The bugle head will want to fall in the 1/8" dent. Also, take shaving from both sides for that extra smooth feeling. Very nice.
I'll never understand Americans and they're horrible Phillip screws. Useless. In Canada we use Robertson screws. The screws have a square hole and it stays on the driver, doesn't fall off and very rarely strips like those horrible Phillips. any time I get a phillips screw I literally throw them out along with any slot screws - just as bad. But thanks for the jig. Cheers
Please will you make another one right handed?
