Lyme Disease and Your Dog
Welcome to our educational series on Lyme disease. Today, we'll discuss how to protect yourself and your loved ones, including your pets, from tick-borne diseases.
Let's start with a story. One of my patients took precautions by using DEET and wearing clothes treated with pyrethrum. He also had a dog that wore a tick collar and was checked for ticks regularly. Despite this, he woke up with a deer tick attached.

Help !!
Yep welcome to the world of Drs that can’t think out of the box ! I supposedly had an onset of anxiety and could not remember my regular clients that I had been caring for years! And still have fog that has never lifted and pain that is only going to really give me anxiety and depression and .. what was I saying …
EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE AWARE... THERE IS A TICK BORN ILLNESS CALLED BABEZIOSIS AND IT CAN KILL YOU IF THEY DONT IDENTIFY IT QUICKLY. IF YOU HAVE FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AND YOU LIVE NEAR THE WOODS AND ARE SICKLY AND WEAK. GET A BLOOD TEST FOR ALL TICK BORN ILLNESS ❤ I JUST LOST MY BROTHER TO THIS ILLNESS
There are cases of Babesia leading to hospitalization and death in the first couple of weeks. I see more problems with chronic illness if patients with Babesia as a chronic illness
I had the western blot done and bands 18, 45 and 58 showed up. The test said non specific and reactivated.
I have not found the western blot test as reliable as i would like. I have had to rely on clinical judgement if my patient had less than 5 out of 10 IgG western blot bands
I'm sorry to keep asking questions and mentioning stuff, but what are the 18 45 and 58 bands.
Hi Dr How are you? I have a question. Why does the full moon cause Me to become more sick, foggy headed and numb. Everyday is bad, but the moon changes are worse. This is just nasty stuff, I've been mostly immobile for yrs. I've seen a dr and have been on antibiotics for about a yr, I've seen naturopath drs and mold and candida was found and lyme like borrellia. But the treatments only help very little. I'm so very sick and tired of being like this. Yesterday the full moon I absolutely could not do anything, like everyday. How do I get rid of this massive foggy head, this makes me not move much. The supplements I've taken relieves a little.
I have patients who have an overactive sensory system who feel things that I might not. It may be an overactive autonomic nervous system. I hope you find a way to get better soon
@@danielcameronmd Thankyou
I've been sick for an entire year after a known deer tick bite. I have severe neurological problems, including constant dizziness with vertigo, along with muscle loss and weakness. I've taken a number of antibiotics, without relief. Need help fast here.
Thank you for the reminders!
Thanks
i was wondering the symptoms for dogs
I am not familiar with the symptoms for dogs. Some dogs can get lame. A few have had kidney failure. You should talk to your vet.
@@danielcameronmd I’m not sure either, but I’ve seen a few dogs that have Lyme, and they don’t look happy!
D ! All above 👆🏻 yay! I win !🥇 Ohh crap that’s me 😮 still
I be had the same happen with my pcp 😢. They write you off as crazy
I'm so sorry for your daughter, and you. Going through this myself, and have been for quite a while. Our medical system needs a big overhaul! I'm so sick of going to all these specialists over and over, not getting answers, and you finally research it your self and they won't listen. You probably know your own body. And North Dakota has been the worst!! Montana, and California has a much better health system.sad .
That‘s not correct. You can culture Babesia in Hamster erytrocytes. This can be successful even if the pathogen load is too low to be detected in a blood smear.
I hope they can adapt the culture approach in Hamster's to humans
@@danielcameronmd you can inoculate blood from a human into a hamster. After a few days to weeks you can microscopically examine the blood of the inoculated hamster. This method was first described in the scientific literature over 50 years ago and has since been repeatedly evaluated as quite sensitive.
What about bioresonance? My blood test came back normal, but i had all the symptoms- chronic lyme..all the best❤
I have used other modalities
Yes…. Wow and how do we know if it’s Lyme or Vitamin B12 deficiency in a patient who has both ?
😅
Theirs a vaccine for Lyme disease??
The Lyme vaccine was pulled from the market over 20 years ago by the manufacture. They cited poor sales. There is no vaccine for co-infections
❤
Hello 👋 Greetings, a question, can the treatment for lyme and leptospirosis be the same? My son and I have been suffering for years from lyme leptospirosis and its co-infections...I live in Mexico and despite having positive results, the doctors tell me. Lyme doesn't exist in Mexico I try but sometimes I don't know what else to do....
Yes. Leptospirosis is treated with antibiotics, such as doxycycline or penicillin that are also prescribed for Lyme disease.
My bite showed the ring on the leg. It developed more then one ring before going away. This was long ago before lyme was even found in my state so no treatment. Then had terrible pain in both heels that made it almost to painful to walk. This went away but it took weeks. Later more arthritis pains in other joints started. Was never checked for lyme even after it showed up in my state. Told it was just arthritis starting, in my early 30’s. Could my arthritis of started because of the most likely Lyme disease? Can Lyme still be detected after many years? 🤔
Lyme is a terrible thing...I know! Das 😎 all!
😯
❤
Nobody can't afford treatment!
😮
i know
I've been sick for a frickin year straight after a known bite from deer tick last summer. -- I've tried a number of antibiotic combinations, with no success yet. I'm in desperate need of medical intervention, as I have severe neurological and physical problems at present. I have constant dizziness and extreme muscle loss with weakness. Need help very fast.
go see Dr. Cameron or the Johns Hopkins Lyme Center.
@@zman3351 Thanks, I've been to several doctors, with different combinations of antibiotics without relief. I have dizziness and vertigo, 24/7. Also have severe muscle loss and weakness that I can hardly stand for a few minutes at a time. -- I was VERY fit, and highly active, and was still approaching peak health. This disease has quite literally stolen my life. Thanks for your help.
The Lyme always comes back a few months after the antibiotics stop. I've had chronic Lyme with multiple co infections for 13 years. I've tried every antibiotic and combination of 2 antibiotics for years. They all fail. Even rafampin 1200mg a day for 13 months failed. I also took biofilm busters and underwent ozone therapy, red light therapy, sauna. All fail.. The only thing that has helped was a relatively new S.O.T. Treatment.
Thanks for sharing the challenges. All the best
Could it be that it’s hard for some people to recover? Due to the issues that it caused for the immune system, could it take a significantly longer time for some to heal due to the long lasting infection that took place causing the immune system dysfunction to continue fighting and not allowing the body to return to rest and repair?
I have had patients who appear to have a continued immunologic problem as well as a persistent infection.
Thank you for doing this! It brings me a little bit of happiness while dealing with and still learning about this debilitating illness

Yep!
I would love to chat. Im from South Africa . I have Borrelia. Rickettsia. And shistosomiasis I would love to chat.
My dog contracted Lyme disease early this year. The effects on her are slowly wearing off, but her joint pain comes and goes, and it does not look comfortable, even though you can get rid of the majority of symptoms. The cure sometimes is worse than the disease itself as far as Antibiotics taking out all the good bacteria from her gut. It’s still a struggle for her
Thanks for sharing the difficulty balancing the bio with the possibility of a persistent infection in your dog
Antibiotics have saved my life with Lyme . The gut problems don’t happen for me but I take probiotics and anti fungals if yeast builds up. Lyme is hell!
Yep so true!!! Bullseye showed up 1.5-2wks ago, and out of no where today, my eyes became so foggy that I could barely drive. Had to stop every 5-10 blocks to put more eyedrops in just to make it home. 30 MIN DRIVE 😮😮. Got home and immediately ripped my contacts out hoping they were torn or dirty…. Nope. Only thing left would be my bite. But I haven’t had any fever like Sx so who knows
Alone here? Will u pleas help me ?
Pleas doctor share how to heal pleas pleas pleas
Pleas share more info about how to heal since in my country they say no chronic lyme diseas exist..already have bells palsy and so much more..i cant do it anymore started euthanisia traject because its so disable making and they put us in crazy home so no other way than suicide. Pleas help help help
There is more than one path to getting better with Lyme disease. There are also treatable illnesses not related to illness. I encourage my patients to keep hope alive.
@@danielcameronmdDoctor, I've been sick for an entire year after a deer tick bite that tested positive for lyme bacteria. I've tried various antibiotics and herbals, but nothing has worked. I was VERY fit, in the prime of my life, but have lost ALL of my abilities due to severe muscle loss, and CONSTANT dizziness with vertigo at all times. I can barely function, and am entirely house bound, sitting on my couch all day. I have to believe something like IV antibiotics may work, due to severe neurological problems and defecits. I am in desperate need of help. Thanks
😮
Always something to consider
It’s all about the money. If Lyme disease is a real illness. Ask yourself why is the testing not better more full poof. Why, because there is just too much money, in treatment.
Happened to me also. The drs kept saying I needed a psychiatrist and go on meds, but toward the end of the psychiatrist appointments, the meds weren't working, and the psychiatrist mentioned nuero lyme to me, and this was 6 yrs ago, but I still have very bad nuerological and cognitive problems. Don't know how to get rid of this. Wake up every morning very agitated, foggy head, heart palps causing shortness of breath, weak, achy, tingly, numb. It sucks.
R u seeing a Lyme literate doctor for Lyme treatment?
Thanks for sharing the challenges. I am glad Lyme disease was discussed
I chose incorrect
next time
@@danielcameronmd for sure
Pretty comprehensive, but there is MUCH more! Do you research!
I agree. MUCH MORE. I had to start somewhere to engage new patients, friends and family
@@danielcameronmd I think you did a great job! My therapist wants to learn about Lyme, so I’m going to send her some of your videos, if that’s ok! I’m at a roadblock with my health, and my Lyme specialist said I don’t have Lyme anymore, but I have chronic. complex-infections, because my autoimmune systems and latent viral infections resurfaced. I am also now stuck in freeze response after the trauma I endured from the medical system, and from my former fiancé and my adult son this past year. I’m trying to work through this dilemma, but I have pain and still crash every afternoon. I’m confused about her new diagnosis, and the plan she has me on, which is Samento and Banderol. I wish I could see you or someone who could get me over this hump in my recovery. I deeply appreciate the endless work you do and the information you provide❣️❣️🙏
How can I discuss my case with you?

It is hard to change
Don't ever go back it is the elixir of life.
I know that feeling all too well.
It is hard to understand this level of fatigue unless you have it
Omg it’s the worst it is debilitating!!!
As someone with Lyme, this disease will absolutely strip you of everything and disable you!!!! Its a horrible disease.... Please please use tick spray and be careful!!! Best to see a excellent Lyme doc instead of a infectious disease doc if u have Lyme or are concerned you may have it!!!!
It can be quite a struggle

Do you still suffer from Lyme?
No
What does it do to you?
There are a broad range of symptoms. Pain, brain fog, fatigue, poor sleep, neck pain, lightheadedness are a few issues
