    The BEST feature this game has is the fact that units keep the class abilities after they switch classes. I had a mean warrior/mage build that would wreck.

    i totally loved the game series back then :) i was very into anime and RPGs and when i read a magazine review of it i had to get it and boy i liked it :D the whole "anime movie plus game" was awesome even if i couldn't watch the series before (.haack//sign) and it really wasn't required (unlike for .hack//GU i feel). I actually didn't know that an anime series existed (i don't think that the series was shown on German TV) but again i really didn't care since i loved the "kinda MMO" game and all the story. Until now i never did get the 100 % completion of the last game (to get the final ending). Also while i liked it that you could use the japanese voices.... it was weird that you only could use that AFTEr you finished the game :( Sadly .hack//GU remaster was a little bit butchered since they increased the EXP gain making grinding or "side story stuff" quite irrelevant since you easily got overlevelled. I also got some starter decks of the .hack//enemy card game which is also kinda neat. I also found it funny when at the beginnig they try to read the german text...and while it's good the way they pronounced it and put emphasis on some words made it sooo bad xD

    Ivalice exists as a support for these kids to avoid despair. Despair that can be solved if they face reality and get over their insecurities. Ivalice also takes away any incentive from them to face reality as it solves their problems. Which means they dont have to face reality, making them more and more dependent on the illusion. The only way to develop their character is to make them understand their own flaws(what Marche does) and have them change themselves. At that point Ivalice becomes unnecessary as they have gotten over their issues. "desire is the thread that binds this world together" Since they have gotten over their issues, they no longer desperately desire Ivalice, causing an auto shut down. Its classic eastern storytelling.

    The backtracking critique is repeated a lot in reviews, but it’s not accurate. You can get everything and only have to return to a stage once to Tunnel Rhino. You just need to plan your route smartly.

    • @FiresideGamingReviews
      @FiresideGamingReviews 15 дней назад

      You can't do that on your first playthrough of the game. It requires multiple runs to get that knowledge. That means it's a valid complaint.

And, in addition to other games, I also put too many hours to feel OK revealing into GTA V, Skyrim (multiple re-issues, too), and Baldur's Gate 3... and this game trumps them EVEN WHEN COMBINED. Cosmic star heroine is really good and it's super fast paced. So it's perfect for someone who's really busy as a lot happens in an hours time from moment to moment. I haven't quite finished it but its about 15 hours or so.

  • @chrisjohnson9542

    As someone who has a severe illness causing me to spend 90% of my life to my bed or couch I'm having the exact opposite problem 😂 I keep burning through 10 to 15 hour games and need beefy 50 and 60 hour games. But at the same time, though I absolutely LOVE turn based rpgs, the battle systems can sometimes get reall monotonous and boring. Which is why I really adore the megaman battle network series and the mario and luigi series because they have a really active battle system. But I've been finding myself playing more and more metroidvania type games. But the downside is that most are pretty short or fall into that 10 to 15 hour slot.

    • @FiresideGamingReviews
      @FiresideGamingReviews 29 дней назад

      Hollow Knight might be right up your alley for a longer Metroidvania. Shadow Hearts on PS2 has a more active turn-based system as well. Not anywhere close to the Mario & Luigi games but moreso than most JRPGs have.

I gave it a shot, but with the first half being the most obvious possible suggestions on the planet and the last half being filled with random awful takes like the implication that Paper Mario is anything less than a masterpiece or, sickeningly, pointing new JRPG fans toward the complete embarrassment that was Lunar Legend just because you can't take a little silly humor in the original translations... I dunno, man. I think this kind of content is cool and I like seeing more retro game channels pop up but this one rubbed me a bit wrong lol.
