This short video explains how to create "Rigid Body Slider Constraint" in Blender. Slider constraint allows rigid body to slide only in one direction constraining motion in all other directions. i.e., It allows only one translation in the direction specified by Empty. In Blender, direction of sliding happens only in the X-Direction, So here Empty's X-Axis is oriented to align the direction in w...

seriously 1 minute to even start tutorial?
Was trying give intro.... Will reduce in future 👍
Hi, congratulations for the very useful, extremely clear and detailed video! I don't think you have time to answer me, but I'll try anyway: I need to create completely rigid springs in Blender (not elastic, just helicoids) which, when one spring penetrates the other by superficial sliding, as a screw penetrating the wood. It's possible? Or is it too complicated in Blender? I would like to point out that this is a physics experiment in which gravity and any other disturbing element, such as friction, must be completely eliminated. If you wanted to try your hand at this experiment, in the case of a publication I would obviously cite you for your help... Davide Longhi
Thank you very much for appreciating our work. Coming to your problem I can't understand spring penetrating the other. Can you please explain with little more clarity. Keep learning...
Hi, thanks for your availability! What I intend to create is a model in an environment vaguely similar to that of deep space, without the influence of gravity, but only mechanical interactions between objects that collide with each other without however determining inertial behavior: if one object collides with another violently , for example, the other object does not move away but remains attached to it, it simply moves because the two objects cannot interpenetrate. I know, it's an unusual environment, but the interesting thing is studying a context that is as elementary as possible, which precedes gravity and inertia, or rather is the cause of them. To test some hypotheses in this regard, I need to "play" with the springs (non-elastic and non-deformable), which have the only characteristic of interacting with other identical springs (all, for example, made up of four coils) partially inserted into each other. in the others, to form a chain. One of the first experiments I would like to do is to see what happens if I rotate the entire chain of springs together clockwise and move it laterally with an external object: I want to see how the springs behave, if they are forced to rotate on themselves to adapt to the movement, if waves are formed or similar... That is, the springs must be rigid bodies that interact with each other only due to impacts or screwing into each other, without any friction that limits these movements. Do you know the rack movement? I mean the one between a rack and a worm gear. Rotating the screw causes the rack to move longitudinally and vice versa. I intend to ask you if it is possible in Blender to obtain the same interaction between two springs partially inserted into each other (even better a chain of springs partially inserted into each other). I don't care if they are super defined or smooth objects, otherwise the calculation becomes terribly complicated and slow. In essence, what I am asking of you is very simple in itself: the model of a single rigid spring, infinitely duplicable, made in such a way that it interacts with an identical spring by rotating inside it clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the external stresses. If you can make a chain of such springs and make it rotate on itself, I'll try to see what happens by playing with it a bit. Thank you very much! Davide
Terrible tutorial: 1) has background music, the worst music in the world, like you are standing in an elevator. Why????? 2) does not show on-screen shortcuts (add keyframe menu, how?) 3) the timeline is like 15% of the screen while it is important for this tutorial 4) At 4:29 the keyframe magically goes away 5) my cube just resets after keyframe 4 to the initial position, it does not pick up velocity.
@@EngMorph thank you, the explanation helped me understand my issue better, it works now.
a really conprerencive tutorial, thank you so much!
Brilliant, thanks so much for sharing this. I'm trying to create a simple door hinge (constrained to 180 degrees opening), I'm wondering whether you've done a tutorial on that, or whether I can adapt this lesson easily?
Thank you for appreciating our work. You can adapt the same by adding upper and lower limits about z-axis of Rigid Body constraint under Angular option by checking the Z-angle radio button. This will limit the angle upto which your door is to be rotated.
@@EngMorph Thank you!😁
great presentation and explanation, would you mind prepare other tutorial ? thanks in advanced
Thank you for appreciating our work. Series of tutorials on PrePoMax are in our pipeline, will release frequently.
That was great!
I too am impressed by the quality and depth of the introduction. Looking forward to you future videos. I have been following PrePoMax for a few years now and can honestly say that it's way ahead of any other open source FEA software in terms of user friendliness and pre/post-processing efficiency. The software has also added so much functionality in the last couple of years. I really appreciate @MatejBorovinsek for his dedication to it and providing this to the open source community. I am sure he is attracting the attention of commercial software producers :) I look forward to next few releases of PrePoMax when features like beam elements or user coordinate systems or hex meshing is added without using Calculix keywords or external meshing.
Thank you very much for appreciating our teams work and as you said, many appreciations to @MatejBorovinsek for providing such a great tool to the community for free.
I really like the introduction and software presentation. Nice work.
"Open Blender". Ah, so THAT'S where I went wrong, lol.
ya
im pretty sure there is gonna be a major rise in the blender STEM community in the coming years and this is a sign of that. subbed!
As we all know, people remember 10% of they hear, 20% of what they read and 80% of what they see. Blender giving the creative freedom to the STEM community to create better content for everyone’s benefit. We thank you very much for appreciating our work. Keep Learning..
It is great tutorial ,but it would save you much time if you just join (ctrl+J) the two objects. Wouldn't it?
Thank you very much for appreciating our work. Ya we can join the two objects instead.
Tnx so muchhhh
Awesome guide! Damn Shame your channel haven't gotten the attention it should be getting
Great Video, But I can't get it to continue for like a 1000 frames, any ideas? I tried animating the gravity, at 80+ frames but it doesn't work.
Thank you very much for appreciating our work. To get animation to be working for more frames, may be you have to add more keyframes to animate the gravity at different intervals.
Thanks, I actually did later get it to work.
very nice and unique work!!!
Could you please make a version without the background music? I find it incredibly difficult to concentrate on what you're saying when the music is competing for my attention.
Sorry for the inconvenience, give us some time we will share you the silent version of it.
thanks alot! i needed this
Glad it helped! Keep Learning..
Can I do it in May?
u can
Beautiful I loved every minute of this Who is the music by I liked that as well
Thank you for appreciating our work. The track is from RUclips.
Thanks my friend. I have learnt so many things in this video. Can you share with me the source files, I want to animate these assemblies using bones to see if it's feasible or not.
Great sir 👌☺️😍
Thank you very much appreciating our work. Keep Learning 👍
Unfortunately, this isn't working for me. As soon as the "animated" disabled keyframe is hit, the cube seems to start its physics from scratch instead of using any velocity it had from the keyframing. Blender 2.93.5
@@Gillissie When you go to keyframe 4 and have your mouse over the un-checked "animated" checkbox, press I on top of the box so that the box being unchecked is also keyframed. Otherwise the checkbox value won't be saved and the animation will continue to be on.
Super scenario, neat demonstration, high useful. Thanks for your job
Could you make a video with earrings doing the same motion with rigid body constraint? I can't find a video on this anywhere, and it would be greatly appreciated
Can we not have music? It doesn't help and frankly silence is preferred for viewing in a work environment. Serious suggestion.
Thank you for your feedback and Will consider your suggestion.
@@EngMorph Appreciate this. Something without a strong base kick would even help. I am often in studio with a client and the music can cause disruptions.
@@huntercressall9610 Use mute....?
@@huntercressall9610 breaking discovery!!!! you can mute the video and put your own music in the backround
Thank you, but are you able to make this work with objects with cell fracture?
We have not used cell fracture, they are simple stack of cubes made from array modifier and then applied Rigid body.
It should have real not animated
It's a simulation.
Interresting.. May be we can apply this to golf swing !!
Partly true but The golf Swing is based on Double Pendulum Model.
@@EngMorph That' s why is so difficult. With lateral move..
@@golfolie64 Ya true
please don’t mark your videos as “made for kids”. They’re not made for kids, and it means us big grown-up kids can’t save them to playlists 😕
can you make spring constraints please
Soon we'll be releasing 👍
this is what i looking for... thank you for the explanation
Thank you for your great video,I learned much from your blender series. I have 2 questions: 1. Rigid Body Constraints series, it seems that it hasn't completed, eg, I can't find "motion", where I can get them?I can only find articles on your website. 2. Could you pls kindly tell me which software you choose to make this video, I mean, draw the circles, points, labels and animate them. Is that GeoGebra?
Hi, I watch your videos, they are very detailed, simple and easy-to-understand for an absolute beginner like me. I have a humble advice that you should write an ebook about Blender for beginners, I will be surely your first buyer. Also I am looking forward for your new videos about Blender. Regards
nice thanks
👌👌
Excellent 👍
Thank you for appreciating our work, 👍. Keep learning!
thank you 👍
Thank u!!!!
dude, you are an underated blender artist in youtube. you seem like having good experience in engineering. btw, already subs.
This is interesting! How do you make the deformable spring?
Thanks for appreciating our work. We did the Following to make the spring deformable. (Spring was not Rigid Body) 1. First a Screw Modifier was used on a single vertex to Model Helix (Spring Center Line). 2. Then, this helix was converted as Curve (Object >> Convert >> Curve). 3. Then Under Curve properties, Depth was increased suitably to show the spring wire. 4. Then with the Help of Shape Keys the animation was achieved. Keep Learning!
@@EngMorph oh it was shape keys. I thought it was physics based. do you know any other software that can simulate the spring physics? thanks for the information!
@@HuanLeVuong clearly it is shape key. if you want to simulate spring deformation you could use solidworks or autodesk inventor.
